This game wasn't even a full megabyte and yet it had more fun than most games today.
Benjamin Owuye Jagun I know, right. It's really impressive Matt can fit such high quality stuff in the cart and still leave enough memory for the game.
@@solarflare9078It's because the Genesis had a synthesizer in side of it. All Matt had to do is write the music and the synth played it. This is why Genesis games' music files were small compared to that of the SNES.
This is more memorable than most modern-day movie music.
perfect placer in form ost play aliens game.
Modern day movie music doesn’t have Matt Furniss
It's sad this type of sound and music had to dissapear. But i'll keep playing games from this era till i'm 90 so i'm taking the most out of this
@@VenusHeadTrap2
And one detail:
Furniss retired in around 2001 because he felt tired of composing music.
@vospominanie After The Dark Knight in 2008 it seemed every movie tried to capture that swelling Hans Zimmer style score for the next 5-10 years. It was so f'ing overdone.
These old Sega Mega Drive/Genesis soundtracks just cannot be beaten, wonderful stuff!
Very difficult game with very awesome music!
+MLG 007 Well, has that day arrived yet?
***** Fellow player... *stay DETERMINED.*
I've beaten it on Easy and Normal, after a lot of years ^^ But now, only Hard mode is left, the final challenge! :D
The problem with Alien 3 is that it requires a lot of level memorization, and great ability to deal with the purposetely clunky controls. If Ripley didn't have tank controls, the game would be much smoother :P
It's one of the most frustrating games I've managed to beat, that's for sure. But after you know every level's layout, it even kinda becomes predictable ^^
***** It's one of those games that is meant to be replayed over and over until you know each level welll enough to make it through ^^ But yeah, few things are more stressful in videogames than Alien 3's timer running out, Ripley moving at a snail's pace, and you just KNOW you're not gonna make it and have to sit there until you can restart the level :S don't forget to change to 9 lives in the options menu :P
Matt Furnis, the composer is a genius!! nice soundtrack!!
thank you. I was searching for the composer.
Loved the music and the game. But the music is just so good.
...the audio quality is pretty gosh darn good!!!
God, this OST is fucking kick ass. I'd never have expected a game based on Alien 3 -- of all things -- would have a soundtrack _this_ good.
IKR ^^ I remember noticing that some of sounds coming were amazing even as a kid. How could such a clear piano sound be coming out of my console, that blew me away back then :D
A testament to the power of the Genesis sound chip I never touched this game as a kid so no nostalgia goggles this ost hits and hits hard
snes claimed to have the better sound... I strongly disagree on all fronts
@@killhazardxI've seen that very thing argued on Facebook recently. Do people even have eardrums? The same (terrible) track on repeat the entire game, and inferior weapon sound effects. The SNES version was better in terms of gameplay, graphics and concept, but the Genesis version cannot be beaten for sound and music.
Oh how I wish could go back to the 90s and give my grandma a hug. Just one.
Stage Four is so haunting
My favourite by far.
It's in a fairly similar style to the Bram Stoker's Dracula soundtrack, also by Furniss.
I find the beginning strangely calming. Really wish the song had stuck with that quiet, ambient feel.
14:06 What a fantastic way to make a build up, by slowly adding note after note in a repeating sequence. Feels very satisfying to listen to for some reason. Matt Furniss is my #1 Sega Genesis composer.
@@ButteredToast32 I think the whole soundtrack is calming
stage 02.
fucking kick ass.
17:23 Stage Five sounds so good
My mom used to get mad at me for leaving the TV on and not playing the genesis because I just wanted this theme song on in the background. What a good song!
Wonderful and powerful game with a beautiful soundtrack.
Best song 13:37
leet
undertale?
heheh 1337
You are here for 17:23 even if you don’t know it yet
I'm here for 13:36 actually.
I love this soundtrack, oh the memories.
My goodness, that stage 5 track. Jammin
Game Over Man! Game Over. ..
haha
RIP Bill Paxton
RIP BILL
01:01 Main Title Part 2
06:47 Stage Two
Those are my favorite too.
me too :)
god forgive me.
I love this soundtrack.
wooowwww i cant get enough of level 4 music..its downright evil and gritty, yet beautifully composed with the tear drops as beats and other nice melodies..this is one the reasons why i love the genesis eons more than the snes.no disrespect the snes.but the genesis to me is supreme
When the tear drops synch in the game with the music... Gives you the chills!
ABSOLUTELY! LONG LIFE GENESIS!
I'd put the best Genesis OST's, like Alien 3 and Mega Turrican up against the best SNES OST's like Donkey Kong Country and Super Metroid.
matt furniss is my favorite composer for genesis
Guys, the name is Matt Furniss - the composer this great game!!!
Stage 4 theme is what that makes me remember this game for years many many years until now.
Thank you Matt Furniss for your genius and hard work. Same goes to the heroic HR Giger (R.I.P). Who entertained, inspired and frightened countless lives across the globe.
2022 and i wanted to say my mama had to play this for me growing up i was so scared she and i were listening to this together earlier and i wanted y’all to share this with me i hope this music touches a spot in you like it did us
why did she have to play it if you were so scared of it?
This game was very difficult, but also great! I go back to childhood listening to those songs!
Ahhh the late night hours I would spend playing this game.
I can somewhat recall lvl4, alien hive, beautiful blue and purple fog, the lights, all that crawling in vents…
It is indeed a beautiful looking level, accompanied by one of the best 16-bit tunes ever made.
Great soundtrack, stage 2 rocks, stage 4 is very atmospheric, and the level complete theme is just awesome.
stage 4 music is good and great i liked it . wowo nice music
Stage 2 is my favorite one! I absolutely love to play that stage !!!
That intro music makes me go freezing cold.
Stage Four. The level fades in and you realise you really are in trouble. The track opens with crushing despair - you're going to die here. Is that a chill wind or the alien's breath in the background? You can never see well in this area, so you'll never know. Then the track builds, slowly at first. One foot in front of the other. Let's go...
One of the sickest soundtracks on a somewhat side b of a game for the Genesis. Truly Awesome!
Matt was technically the MASTER of a High Qualitiness for Sega Genesis. He also wrote some conversions from the Game Gear and Amiga.
Such an amazing soundtrack, thank you!!
I love this soundtrack, the memories.... T_T
Brings back so many memories
2:04 ... that growl in the middle of the melody reminds me that almost 25 years later, Sega again resurrect one of the worst nightmares in which every time you play seems that never will wake up...
THIS GAME HAUNTED ME when i was 7 years old and this game came out...
yeah. While aliens themselves did not scare me what frightened me were two things. 1. Game over scene with hand showing itself before disappearing and of course failing to save prisoners chest bursting
I remember playing this excited, and then as soon as I died and got the game over screen, the music scared the living day lights out of me.
Nice. Thank you. Stages 4 and 5 were awesome.
Excellent, thanks for uploading :D
Memories of happier times...
Damn my mum played this game and when i was a little child i played this game and its still one of the hardest game ive ever played, thats a masterpiece. And this game over music , damn this game over music make you feel you really loose this game and its OVER😂
Combined with the hand reaching towards what seemed to be an exit before sinking back down again… geez…
Matt Furniss is amazing.
Yea, to think he was only 19 or 20 when composing for this game.
that little diddy at 22:36 is fabulous. this soundtrack was a masterpiece.
you can break dance to some of these songs :^)
Epic Music for a Epic Game. Alien 3 kick ass
Matt Furniss is like the genesis version of David Wise.his mortal kombat soundtarcks are untouchable
did Dan Forden not compose the mortal kombat music?
He did... in the arcade original. Matt Furniss did the Genesis port himself.
@@solarflare9078 Since when did you start uploading videos??? Do you have an alternate account? Or did you just change your profile picture
Sebastian N. I started since near the beginning of this account (Around 2015. Maybe 2016, and they are pretty bad though, and most of the videos are related to a group I once was in). In fact, this account used to go under the name of "SSB4 Replays".
And yes, I did change my pfp (and name), if that's what you only wanted to know.
i would love to see a version of "meets bass" from this song, also thanks a lot for the upload!
the songs i meant mainly were the main songs at the start.
The megadrive really did have some of the best music.
Killer tracks!
I remember this well, this game gave me chills as a kid lol. The soundtrack is better than some movies
Epic score for a 16bit game. Unforgettable. Every single track nails it. Atmospheric AND catchy. Must be my favorite game, or at least one of them, from that era!
It's also one of the rare cases at which the game was way better than the movie
Watch the Assembly Cut version or read the Novelization by Alan Dean Foster. It's much better than the Theatrical cut, to the point It seems another (and superior, thanks to David Fincher) Alien movie. I have a better impression of Alien 3 now, but I think they could do much better in terms of script. Killing the crew was an unforgiven heresy.
Those guitars @ 2:58
Incredible.
it's keyboards!
@@thesoundlikechameleons2082 I swear they sound like guitars to me.
Best wishes.
This game “back then” was hard as fuck. Didn’t help that the Xeno terrified me as a kid, so I played it in small doses and would end up getting spooked out. I finally beat it on an emulator in my 20’s and loved every moment of it.
Not to forget the scary as hell *Time is Up* cutscene with unnerving music and captives screams...
Great catchy music 🤩👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
also got this game , awesome music!!
"Get Ready" is also an unused track on Mega Drive.
Nice Soundtrack!
Freaking epic game. Specially the soundtrack
Oh cool, it's a YM2612-exclusive version of the Master System version. Matt Furniss is such a genius to make his soundtrack sound good on both the YM2612 and SN76489. Though I do prefer the SN7's rendition.
Stage 4 is one of my favourite VGM tracks
Stage 4 all the way.
I like stage 4 😍😍😍
Ah sweet, I love this game. :) I still can't complete it though... I always die on the First Round of the Second Level... I remember being a kid and messing around in the sound test, to the point where I found a glitch. :V If you continue to try and play a song, one of the sound channels stops playing.
Awesome soundtrack. Used to play for hours after school...and i hate it whenever i got to restart the stage after failed mission.
Stage 2
Amazing. I'm getting so many ResQ vibes. Which is a good thing. I wish the genesis had a longer lifespan so it could show everyone what it was made of. That ball is in the court of content creators now, I guess. It's in good hands, at least. ;^)
Nintendo fans don't care. They would proclaim that SNES is better than Dreamcast in every way possible. 😄
@@overnightdelivery Last time I checked, 3D was still all the rage by the time the Dreamcast showed up. The worst that most Nintendo fans could have said at that point was that the Nintendo 64 was better than the Dreamcast.
This is like a Depeche Mode b-side
Suena a Infancia😁.
Spooky as hell. The NES version went for a more energetic beat but was still pretty melancholy. Matt Furniss chose his instruments well - I can't imagine an SNES conversion of this.
I stand corrected - the later stages are super catchy, too!
***** Jeroen Tel's Nes soundtrack is good too
E Oyibo Especially considering that during the gameplay songs one of the 4 channels used was reserved for sound effects only.
I have both versions, this one and the SNES. The music on SNES was beautiful and scarier but this one has a kick to it.... different but both are nice for the respected systems
Level 4 is just the best one.
So unique and so fucking good.
This game was alot of fun, despite the film itself being questionable at best. I highly recommend it to anybody who hasn't played it yet and can a genesis or emulator to play it on.
whoa this is fantastic ! Many praise the Dune game soundtrack but i must say this is more enjoyable to me
I bought this game new while visiting Florida in 1996 :-) IT works fine on my UK Megadrive :-)
I loved this game. wasn't the best but fun. thanks for the soundtrack
In a galaxy far, far away...
On old old chips...
How nostalgic...
Art!
good man
Awesome, i would like to request Alisia Dragoon ost if it's possible.
I played both in my childhood. Awesome taste, sir!
20:34 Pretty badass tune!
OMG. Yeeees! OAO I was hoping to find a video with the whole Alien 3 soundtrack in one-go. Thank you for posting this! I broke many TVs playing non-stop on my Sega. Like three of them. -_- I kept burning them out by playing this game a lot, always beating it in 30 minutes or lesser time.
Ah, the memories... OwO
(jams to this music during a late-night art session)
wow, that's sick. gg wp
yes right.
the title part 2 is awesome i like is my favorit
J'adore
I remember when I saw this on display in a games shop just as it had come out. I thought it was a Megacd game the music was that good.
Sweet nostalgia...
Man I loved this game (once upon a time). Never completed it, level 4 defeated me
songs from a future that never came
i can't help but hearing the shots and the girl screams along with the music.
Stage one is my favorite, its creepy af
Stage 4 reminds me of the end credits of Escape from New York
