IPv4 - Calculating the network, host and broadcast addresses - Part 2 of 2

In this mini lecture you are introduced to the procedure for calculating the three address types for cases where the IP address prefix length is not 8, 16 or 24. The procedure is demonstrated via two examples.

At 3mins 5secs you begin working out the number of hosts. You say we have 16 network bits but you write 32-16. Where does the figure of 32 come from?

Simply trying to show that if we have 16 network bits, then number of host bits is (32 - # of network bits) as the sum of network + host bits must always equal 32.
