I rebuilt the front differential on my 2012 Ranger 800 Crew. The splines on the output hub were stripped on the right side. Afte the rebuild, it made this same noise. I may go back in and replace the sprague rollers. I debated on replacing the rollers while I had it apart, but $433 for the output hub and another $350 for the sprague made me choose to reuse the old rollers. After getting it all put back together and hearing that clunking noise made me rethink. I also found just the 20 sprague rollers for $25. Hindsight is always 20/20. My rollers were a bit rough, but their job is to grip the output hub on demand. Now i'm thinking they are gripping full time. The popping noise is probably when they release, since the front wheel assist is not engaged.

Great info, thank you for sharing this info. I have not torn my completely down yet. Although after some regular maintenance on mine. It got so much more quiet. I have ran mine and just kept an eye on it and ears listening.

I just replaced wheel bearings, drive shafts, carrier bearing, and diff input shaft bearing. Still making the same noise. Blows my mind.

Is there a salute to the problem then? Just leaving us hanging man. I have a 2017 crew 1000 also and has the same noise but it is constant. Havnt done nothing to it.

The chatter I hear, you have to replace the front diff fluid often with Polaris fluid, it reduces clutch chatter.

I flushed mine twice and after the second oil change mine got much more quiet. I have put about a hundred miles on the newest oil and so far it has been good. After making this video and talking to others like yourself it seems that some of these Polaris diffs are just noisey from the factory. If I hear of any better solution I will absolutely make a follow up video. Thank you for watching and thank you for sharing your experience.

What did you end up doing to fix it?

After the oil change the noise went away. I can only figure that the level may have been low or either the wrong type of fluid was in the diff.

Lord Motorsports Thanks for following up. I’ll change mine and see if that solves my noise problem too. You had the rear wheels jacked off the ground, right?

@@rayw7217 yes, I jacked up the rear and anchored the rear.

I think Polaris wants you to change the diff oil every 100 hours while using their demand drive fluid.
