Well, morning, Captain. We have had two SxS utilities, a Kawasaki MULE that we bought new in 2013, and a Polaris Ranger 800 EFI we bought a year ago. The Kawasaki is in the barn, with the engine dead, the Polaris was sold to someone whose son was a Polaris dealership mechanic. Changing the oil was ridiculously difficult on each. We had the Polaris for about six months as a "spare" for the MULE on the ranch, and in that time, I spent close to 20% of what we paid for it in parts alone. The undercarriage was junk, all four wheel hubs, one shock mount, I forget what else. (I did all the work, I'm "retired" to the ranch, otherwise, I think it would have doubled the price of the SxS.) Of the two, I prefer the MULE, the damage was kinda my fault, because I didn't supervise the non-mechanically inclined person who used it daily for 10 years. I'll never buy another Polaris. (At my age, I can make those "never again" statements, since I probably won't buy one, but if I do, I will have forgotten all about saying I wouldn't do it.)🙄 Thanks for giving me something to watch while waiting for sun-up, take care!
2010 Polaris Ranger 800 XP and I also work the piss out of mine. Never had an issue or complaint. In fact I'm about to perform it's 3rd full service ever. Yeah, it's neglected and abused and it still keeps going and going. Helluva product.
In years past I worked for a company and my job was "procurements" and I worked with Polaris many times. If I hand wrote a section of a procurement and forgot to fdot one "i" in the word "it" they would cancel the order and scold us profoundly. Point is, we can't be stupid, but they can! Good luck.
I have an 2020 honda pioneer 700-4 and other than the transmission needing more then 3 gears I love it. The 1000 comes with a 6 speed transmission and it gets better fuel economy and goes a lot faster without sounding like the hamster wants to run off the wheels.
I'm a little late to the game, my run around UTV is a Polaris 800 crew cab and my work and winter snow plow is a 550 Ranger side by side, I enjoy them both with no issues.
Can-am Commander 1000. Don't like it, Selling it and buying a big boss Polaris 6x6. Easier to get on and off when working, but you do get wet. Thanks for all your vids. They are something I look forward to.
I so love your video attitude lol 😂 you make the video no matter what it’s about. I have a Honda pioneer 700-4 it’s a 2015. Love it have just over 3000 farm miles and roughly 700 hrs and just oil changes. Still has the original battery. I do wish I would have spent just a little more at the time and got the 1000 for the extra power and 6 speed transmission vs the 3 speed the 700 has.
2018 Kawasaki teryx 800. Love the thing. Dad has a 2012 polaris ranger 900xp. It’s been pretty good after some problems. He bought it at Newburgh power sports and damn near drug the service manager over the counter down there. Lol Ended up having to take it to the polaris dealer in jasper to finally get it fixed correctly and hasn’t had a problem since.
2016 Polaris Ranger XP900. Only issue so far has been the clutch and belt slipping causing a jerking motion when first taking off. Popped the cover off and using a abrasive sponge cleaned the insides of the primary and secondary clutch and she runs good again.
I don’t have a side by side but I wish I did Mike, I could do so much more with one! No Funds! 😞 I don’t have the property you have either! So I can’t justify buying one, my 4WD 300 Quad Runner was stolen three years ago and they can’t find it! So I do without now! Thanks for sharing my friend! 👌🏻👍🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸
Suzuki 500 atv and a tractor supply 4x6 trailer was my main woods “mule” for 15+ years & still gets the job done. I inherited a 2wd Kawasaki mule about 5 years ago & use it a lot these days. I’d want one with 4wd if I had to rely on it alone, though. No problems with either one, but they are utility tools much more than play toys.
Hey Mike, just a thought on those open frame rails... duct tape them closed and fill with low expansion foam? That would decrease the water/mud holding and not add weight... Always enjoy your videos! Keep 'em coming!
2001 Kawasaki mule. Had very few problems with it. The thing I like most about the mule is how quiet it is. You don’t have to raise your voice to talk to the person next to you
2010 polaris ranger 800 exp special edition, I use it for hunting. Its been a great machine i use dual batteries because I run a light bar and a go light. I will like it to be a little less noisey in the woods. Complaint number two is the heat from the fan, In the summer its unbearable.
Hi Mike! She’s Mint alright! So clean you could eat your dinner off the dashboard!! Oh and hang on a dog gone minute... did I spot that you were wearing “Safety Flip Flops”? I think you’ve got a secret Health and Safety advisor in the background crew!? Great vid as usual! Jerry...UK
We have 2 Side by Sides A 2005 Kubota RTV 900 and a 2016 John Deere 825i. The Kubota is best for spraying, hauling and general work because of the hydrostat drive and the hydraulic dump bed. The JD Gator is used to get around because of it's speed and is used for a lot of different task. I really like both.
I love my 2013 Ranger 800 6x6 ! Goes anywhere and does everything! I'm like you, its a utility vehicle! I'll hose it now and again, but it was bought to d a job!!! We do play as well though!
I got a CFMoto UForce 1000 back in January for work on the ranch. It runs a little rough and the transmission is a little touchy, but no problems yet. Going to take it back to the dealer and see if we can get it running a little smoother.
I use dark blue safety glasses as sun glasses. I fish two days a week in a country where a freezing day is in the teens Celsius. 1 my glasses aren't without a scratch and 2 I don't think they would survive being dragged through the dirt 😅
We run Honda pioneer 1000’s and the Honda big red’s. The big reds have their own sets of problems but their still a good work machine. We’ve been super happy with the pioneers but the oil change isn’t the easiest on them either… lol other than that, they’re a solid rig with tons of power and have pretty dog gone reliable.
Thanks for sharing, from the easy access design of that almost makes you wonder if there is some planed obsolescence going on by encouraging people to not perform proper maintenance. Was wondering if it was designed by the same people as DPs previous skid steer. Was thinking you might want to buy a filter socket to use with your ratchet and a few extension shafts for the future. Seems like that is the only way to easily get anything in it, that is if they haven’t blocked that path either. That and maybe a new drain plug. Wishing you and your family the best.
I’ve got a 2010 Polaris 400 with over 800 hrs. No milage meter. Up here in the north country of NH it goes just about everywhere a man would want to go. Pretty rocky country up here in the White Mountains 60 miles from the Canadian border. They don’t call it the Granite State for nothing.
Hilarious! That’s me with my 2012 Ranger 800 xp, still kickin down in the Big Black River swamp in Yazoo, MS. Waiting to get something else, whenever it finally stops raising hell …..
Been looking at a one-off, one of a kind fubaru (heard that one might be hitting the market soon) ….not sure if it qualifies as a side by side. It’s one of those I know a guy who knows a guy kind of thing.
You’re having way to much fun, you should share some of it! Well sir, at least it got an oil change, I’m betting there are some that never see an oil/ filter change in their life because of locations, just sayin! 😊
I like my 825 Gator. It's for work, not play. Most of the time I've got a 65 gallon sprayer in the bed but I've had a little of everything in it or hooked on the back or front 2" receivers. Only pain on it is you have to drop a skid plate to change oil (well.......). Otherwise, for it's rated payload and what I want it for I couldn't be happier. 4 wheel drive with diff lock and good payloads, walks on water almost, what more do you want for a working sxs?
That filter is just slightly less handy than the one in my 2002 Chevy with the 8.1L engine. The engineers in their infinite wisdom decided to wrap the exhaust pipe completely around the filter and locate the front driveshaft directly under it.
That’s kind of a necessity when you stuff 8.1 liters under a hood that normally holds less than 6 liters. Things get a little tight. That much power has its consequences. 😉
We have a kubota RTVX900 at work that is really nice. Built like a mule, but it will only do 25 Mph. Never had any experience with polaris sxs, but I had a sportsman 500 atv. It was the biggest piece of crap I ever saw. I will never touch another polaris because of it.
If you want more information on side-by-side to check with Stoney Ridge farm. By the way, technically you were pressure washing your side-by-side you just weren’t using a high pressure machine. If you were to change the setting on your sprayer you would get a much lower pressure then the stream you had, which is simply caused by giving a small opening for all the water pressure. It would normally come out of a half inch to three-quarter inch line.
Do you think the designers and engineers looked at a John Deere and said you know what, we can do worse. 😂🤣😂 You'd be better of with a willies Jeep or a light weight Defender at least then you'd be able to work on them if needed, plus they both go anywhere off road. 👍🤗
Watching this video today (24Aug2024) after Mike posted the video titled "I've Neglected This Machine for Years - Time to Pay the Price!" on his main channel two days ago (22Aug2024)! 🤣🤣
The side by side I have is my better half.... in 14 years we have not needed an oil change, or had an argument 😁 Although, Im not sure this is the sort of information that will be helpful to you !!! 🤷♂️😂
They all have lots of good and bad points…CanAms have notoriously poor diffs that are both weak and always spin the tire with the least traction and have overheating problems across most of their UTV line. Polaris SxS’s and atv’s have always been plagued with terrible quality control at the manufacturer and super weak reverse gear designs. I’ve seen new $25K Polaris SxS’s with stripped or cross threaded fasteners…and a zero miles XP pro turbo with a cracked air filter housing..Imagine trashing a $10K engine in the first hour of use! Honda , Kawasaki and Yamaha all make pretty decent products but these three brands are known for lacking in power compared to the first two I mentioned. They also have been unwilling to improved models year after year and seem to just rerelease products that can’t keep up with the first two above. I’ve owned all 5 brands and I guess I’d have to say Polaris was the one I’d buy again if ever got in the market for a ridiculously overpriced golf cart.
I had a Mule it was the biggest POS ever. I have had my 2010 Ranger 800 since 2010 brand new. Haven't done a single thing to it.... other than batteries.
I might be as biased as you are sarcastic but I don’t think you’d regret getting a Honda Pioneer. You don’t become the largest engine builder in the world if your engines aren’t reliable.
Oh Mike those cliff hanger endings, reminds me of a time when I was sat on a plane when,
"Looking for the thread locker" was a beautiful moment. Neat.
Well, morning, Captain. We have had two SxS utilities, a Kawasaki MULE that we bought new in 2013, and a Polaris Ranger 800 EFI we bought a year ago. I have a mule that I have completely abused other than oil changes. Still starts, first hit. Runs Strong
We have an '08 Ranger, and we absolutely love it. We are super happy with it - the power dump bed is huge for us.
My side by side is a 91 Jeep Wrangler. Cheaper than most all "side x sides" and has A/C ,go anywhere ability, easily serviced etc.
You are so funny. Thank you for making me giggle and laugh!!!😂
2010 Polaris Ranger 800 XP and I also work the piss out of mine. Never had an issue or complaint. In fact I'm about to perform it's 3rd full service ever. Yeah, it's neglected and abused and it still keeps going and going. Helluva product.
That is a ridiculous design flaw for an oil filter position. Brilliant as always Mike 👍🇺🇸🇬🇧
Ok so the ending thing is gonna be the trademark of this channel I see........ I like it😂
My Side by side is a 1990 F150 8 foot bed! It starts every time and it only cost me $1,000 bucks ! And she has heat baby
In years past I worked for a company and my job was "procurements" and I worked with Polaris many times. If I hand wrote a section of a procurement and forgot to fdot one "i" in the word "it" they would cancel the order and scold us profoundly. Point is, we can't be stupid, but they can! Good luck.

87 Suzuki bought new never repaired a thing used weekly still super reliable start’s easy runs strong
Have a Cam-Am Defender 2016 with 3000 miles
So far still working great
Can-am Commander 1000. Don't like it, Selling it and buying a big boss Polaris 6x6. Easier to get on and off when working, but you do get wet. Thanks for all your vids. They are something I look forward to.

Iam old school Bud still running and working my 2004 400 Bombardier has been a beast as well still runs like a Champ 👍👋🇨🇦
Not often you hear a piece of mechanical equipment emit a sighof relief! 😋
2016 Polaris Ranger XP900. Only issue so far has been the clutch and belt slipping causing a jerking motion when first taking off. Popped the cover off and using a abrasive sponge cleaned the insides of the primary and secondary clutch and she runs good again.
Get a durclutch.... trust me, its the best thing you can do for performance.
I don’t have a side by side but I wish I did Mike, I could do so much more with one! No Funds! 😞 I don’t have the property you have either! Ill miss the fubaru! 😥 glad to see you doing oil changes on the everyday side by side though 💪
We have a John Deere RSX 850 i gator. We have had it out to Az. and rode in the desert a few times. we really like it. Our's is a 2012.
oldschool john deere 626, cant beat them. had the same one since 88'
Own a 2020 Yamaha wolverine x2. Wonderful machine and never had a problem one with it. Workhorse that you can take on the trail of you like.
Hey Mike, just a thought on those open frame rails... duct tape them closed and fill with low expansion foam? That would decrease the water/mud holding and not add weight... Always enjoy your videos! Keep 'em coming!
I have heard other mechanics say "junkyard digs" for one that foam will trap water.
2001 Kawasaki mule. Had very few problems with it. The thing I like most about the mule is how quiet it is. You don’t have to raise your voice to talk to the person next to you
Mike you are in your own world, nice job.just keep doing what your doing.kudos 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks for your help I have a 6x6 800 efi. My dad passed away. Never showed me how to really oil changes and such. Thank you for the help.
2010 polaris ranger 800 exp special edition, I use it for hunting. Its been a great machine i use dual batteries because I run a light bar and a go light. I will like it to be a little less noisey in the woods. Complaint number two is the heat from the fan, In the summer its unbearable.
I bought a 1994 Daihatsu HiJet to use on our farm. Titled and street legal here in SC .
2016 Polaris ranger 900xp. Been used very hard for most of its life and has held up very good. Nothing to major yet besides normal maintenance items.
Well done Michael. Why not use a 10lb sledgehammer an 8lb seems a little light.
Honda pioneer 1000 I love mine 2 seater r unfold the seats n the bed n bam 4 seater lots of power vary nice
Jerry...UK

I have a Honda Pioneer 1000-5 and love it except the oil change on it is a bit of a PIA as well..
Good Morning. great video. Awesome looking side by side. love watching your videos. :)

I'm super happy with my mule 610
For little cost you could apply spray-on undercoating from Harbor Freight (IRON ARMOR $6.99/ can last time I looked) on the frame to protect it more.
RETIRED 80, USAF, VFW, FREEDOM. BUY ONE TOMORROW. BUTS DON'T HAVE PLACE TO KEEP IT.
Been looking at a bobcat toolcat, don't own one yet.
Has the advantage that different implements can be mounted at the front.
I run a 3 wheeled 1961 Bonser Truck.
If those sunglasses survived without a scratch...I want a pair!
I use dark blue safety glasses as sun glasses. I fish two days a week in a country where a freezing day is in the teens Celsius. 1 my glasses aren't without a scratch and 2 I don't think they would survive being dragged through the dirt 😅

I like my 825 Gator.
It's for work, not play. Most of the time I've got a 65 gallon sprayer in the bed but I've had a little of everything in it or hooked on the back or front 2" receivers.

Honda Pioneer 700. It has been bulletproof so far.
good morning i hope everyone has a great day
I had a 2012 RZR 900xp, never really used it, sold it to buy old Honda 3 wheelers.
We have a Kawasaki Mule Pro Dx. The biggest bed on the market and hauls a lot of stuff.....😮
Any equipment should have adequate hand clearance to work on it.
Awesome video MIKE🤘🏼‼️
hello mike it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks friends randy
That filter is just slightly less handy than the one in my 2002 Chevy with the 8.1L engine. The engineers in their infinite wisdom decided to wrap the exhaust pipe completely around the filter and locate the front driveshaft directly under it.
That’s kind of a necessity when you stuff 8.1 liters under a hood that normally holds less than 6 liters.
Things get a little tight.
That much power has its consequences. 😉
Have you considered getting a small waste oil burner now that you're herde of vehicles is getting so large?
We have a kubota RTVX900 at work that is really nice. Built like a mule, but it will only do 25 Mph. Never had any experience with polaris sxs, but I had a sportsman 500 atv. It was the biggest piece of crap I ever saw. I will never touch another polaris because of it.
I have 2012 John Deere gater is good and I have a 2012 Polaris ranger diesel is good
Comment should be, " Its just that easy, (laughing), I kill me".
Why not pressure wash before serving it? Less likely of having dirt falling in face and contamination.
Bobcat 3400xl here (Polaris)
Kleeman you need to buy Dirt Perfect Taco skid steer were he can buy the DL550
I have no need for a skid steer
@@Kleeman1That sounds like something someone that did not own a skid steer would say.
Andrew Camarata has done a long video explaining why he thinks the Yamaha side x side is the best. It's very similar to the style of your's.
👍👍👍
Might be easier to unscrew the engine, rather than filter.
If you want more information on side-by-side to check with Stoney Ridge farm. By the way, technically you were pressure washing your side-by-side you just weren’t using a high pressure machine. Howdy Captain
The side by side I have is my better half.... in 14 years we have not needed an oil change, or had an argument 😁
Although, Im not sure this is the sort of information that will be helpful to you !!! 🤷♂️😂
You have your own dirt funnel...lol
Could use a new nozzle 😊

Old school John Deere gator is best in my book
I might be as biased as you are sarcastic but I don’t think you’d regret getting a Honda Pioneer.

just gotta give her the ol reach around!!!! lmao
go faster with the weight reduction of mud!
