    Nice. I want to build myself an ICF farmhouse this next year.
    Saving money now to buy property in the spring.
    Live in a cold climate, either going with Amvic R30 Blocks or the nudura XR35.
    Still gotta get quotes etc.

      Sounds like a solid plan. Where about's in the world are you? If you're in the US or Canada thetre may be a cost advantage with Nudura?

    You need to install WWHR system. You’ll save loads.

      Hi Cameronloggenburg2867, you know what. It seems like a great idea, I'll do a bit more research. Thanks for the advice 👍

    Seems odd to install waterproofing under the slab and then construct a cold joint between the bottom of the wall and the top of the slab.

      Hi. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. We still have to install the internal floating waterproofing system and then PIR insulation on top of that. I’d be interested to hear your ideas on how it could be done in a different way though 👍👍👍

      @@Boxplanet Oh ok. That makes sense to add more waterproofing now.
      Since you were already going to spend the money to waterproof under the slab though, you should have put the cold joint below that waterproofing. I would have poured the footings and walls at the same time as mono pour so there is no joint and then poured the slab inside the walls. That way there would be no intrusion points and any water would be channeled down directly to your drainage system.
      Having the slab inside the walls would have also greatly increased your houses energy efficiency as well. If the slab was inside the walls, you could have insulated under the slab instead of on top. You could have really taken advantage of the concrete's thermal mass to regulate your homes internal temperature since the the slab would be contained by insulation on all sides.

    Were you required to use separate scaffolding, rather than using the build-in platform with the bracing system?

    • @Boxplanet
      @Boxplanet  Рік тому

      The bracing system we used didn’t have the platform system unfortunately. We used scaffolding as an easier way of building the ICF, although it’s not mandatory use it. It’s certainly more convenient although that comes at a fair cost. Thanks for watching 👍

      @@Boxplanet interesting. All the brace systems here have a walkway. There is also the zont zuckle system which you build yourself from lumber. I'm enjoying the videos thanks

      @@cyoungso The bracing system shown in this video has u-channel strong backs. Which means it is in fact capable of holding walk planks. It just looks like they forgot to install the brackets that hold the walk planks.
