  • The Best View in Hong Kong
Join us as we hop over to Hong Kong to explore the bustling city, and tell you some tips and tricks that the locals won’t tell you. 🤫
This is the second vlog in our latest Hong Kong series and covers the second day of our travels in the vibrant mega city. Today we are checking out the best views and photography locations in HK starting with a hike up Braemar Hill. This hike is a hidden gem- where most tourists would recommend Victoria Peak, the locals recommend Braemar Hill and it is easy to see why. This hike has the best panoramic views of the city and mountains with hardly any tourists: if you want to get the views we got, be prepared to climb over boulders and head off the beaten track.
Another great photo location is Kennedy Town- with its colourful buildings, basketball courts, and views of the sea, it’s a great place to capture the pastel colours of the trams in a Studio Ghibli style vibe. Near the metro station, through a basketball court, you’ll find the best place to take photos down the street into the sea. There are some cafes and restaurants in the area too which makes it a great place to stop for some lunch. For coffee, we recommend %arabica on the waterfront, however this was very busy with fashion photographers so we gave it a miss.
We can’t mention the breathtaking views of Hong Kong without visiting the famous Victoria Peak. To get to the top you can get the bus for just. Over $11, or you can take the tram: be prepared to wait at least an hour for the tram so I recommend the bus. The hike here is fairly flat and the paths smooth, making it a great alternative to Braemar Hill for those with lesser mobility.
The nightlife in Hong Kong is just as vibrant as Shanghai, with a famous bar street: Lan Kwai Fong. We then took the Star Ferry across the water to the waterfront promenade to see the nightlights of the skyscrapers reflected in the water. We used this location to redeem our 100HK$ gift cards at Kbar in the stunning K11 mall. This was a highlight of our trip.
Whilst in Hong Kong I recommend stopping by the sculpture at Golden Bauhinia Square which is an import symbol for Hong Kong people after the handover.
If you have WeChat, you can claim HK$100 gift card upon arrival into West Kowloon Station. From SIM cards to Octopus cards and more, there are lots of little tips and tricks to save money here in Hong Kong.
If you’re new to our channel, welcome! We are Natt and Miu an AMWF couple living in Shanghai and sharing our daily adventures across China and the world. Thank you for joining us on this adventure ❤️

    📍Kbar

M & S for breakfast in Hong Kong, dear oh dear! Breakfast or brunch in Hong Kong are rice congee or dim sum. And pizza 🍕 in Hong Kong, dear oh dear! Hong Kong's Cantonese cuisine is a must when in the city, and yes, every lunch and every dinner.
Very pleased to see lives in Hong Kong have returned to normal after those turbulent few years.
Love your channel, always enjoy watching your videos.

Hahah I know it’s bad 😂 We eat dim sum and noodles and congee and Chinese food all the time in Shanghai and this day we were both really missing English (or western) food. Where we live in Shanghai we can’t order western food because we are too far out of the city so the pizza and M&S were a holiday treat for us. Don’t worry, the next travel vlogs we eat lots of local foods ❤️

Those neon lights at nighttime are always so cool to view! As much as I appreciate what they do to control the mosquito population, I probably would've gotten both spiders out of their webs with a rock then stepped on them lol. The fries you've shown in past videos always have looked so appetizing. This time, though, and for that price even with everything else included, I hope they tasted much better than they looked 😂

😂😂 These spiders were bigger than my hand, there’s no way I was going to get close enough to step on one hahaha. Enough to make me run in the other direction 😂

Hello from Oamaru Sth island New Zealand.
May i ask what is required to enter Hong Kong for a 5 day visit?. How much money do you need?

    • @ExpatNatt
      @ExpatNatt  8 місяців тому +3

Hello! I’m not sure about a NZ citizen but for the UK I didn’t need a visa, just my passport. I recommend checking your government website for entry requirements for HK. Our whole trip cost just under 3000 HKD for two of us for two days including accommodation. We didn’t do any paid tourist attractions for if you plan to visit Disney or take cable cars etc then your budget would need to be higher. Also we tried to stay in a cheap Airbnb rather than a hotel to keep costs down and ate simple meals rather than at top restaurants to keep to our budget. We also walked everywhere or took the bus rather than taxis as that can increase your costs quickly. Over the next few weeks I will post a full itinerary video including all the costs of our trip. I think 1000HKD per person per day is a good amount of money, you may be able to save some money to splurge on a nice dinner on the last day but accommodation will be a big part of your budget. We only took 1000HKD as spending money for the two days and ran out on the last day (we had to have McDonald’s for dinner because it’s all we could afford hahaha).
