- One of the Stars of our recent Montée des Légendes Top 10 Video and requested by a great number of subscribers, today we remember Fabien Bourgeon´s impressive performance at the wheel of the TracKing RC01b at Col de la Faucille.
The diminutive Prototype with aesthetics based on the Mercedes C-Klass DTM (although in quite smaller scale), powered by a 200Hp/14.000Rpm GSX-R1000 Engine and fitted with a spaceframed Chassis, it about the lightest thing with a roof doing hillclimb Racing nowadays. At only 450Kg, things really doesn´t get any more lightweight...or frantic for that matter...
But nothing better here then observe the French Race driver driving this purpose-built little Monster to the Limit both from outside and Inside...
Basically a fully caged shifter kart with suspension. Looks like super fun.

Nothing seems out of the ordinary until you notice the roof line is barely higher than the barriers. They've got the DTM proportions nailed!

I just posted about this, the car must be incredibly small given it’s height relative to the barriers. Those walls are waist height or lower for a 6 foot man, so the car must be barely over 3 feet tall!
I do not care if that body is made from paper, that weight is SHOCKINGLY low
At that point you need to plan your bathroom break before the race or else it can mess up your balance.
The car's as big as a Lotus 2-Eleven, and its weight is even lighter than that car.

Well, if you compare it with normal Cars its really light weighted, but it would be interesting to see what is possible, for comparison, one of the lightest cars build for hill climb is the Porsche 909, a car build in 1968, that weigh 430kg, and they didnt have carbon fiber back in those days
@@CJBoreas that car also has zero safety equipment, no roll cage or anything! Certainly impressive, but this RC01 needs to meet some kind of regulation
You can say many things about this car but for me the incredible thing in this hillclimp is the driver and his driving skills, from inside you can see his I dare to say perfect driving

I recently just stumbled across one this past weekend at Sebring. It was powered by a 1300cc busa motor that made 220whp and weighed 1000 lbs. Thing was super cool. Very well put together car. I would've loved to have driven it. Super tiny in person.

Who ever built this car you have done something not even words can explain, i would LOVE to see them do this same build but using a H2R motor with 280whp.... that would be absolutely insane!

Always the motorbikes have great sound when they are over 600 cc and there exhaust is small so you can hear them almost like the sound as it comes out of the engine

I'm very interested in how they make a motorcycle engine work with a automotive trans and rear diff , keep the chassis light yet strong, gearing....it's all very cool.
On a GSX-R the transmission comes integrated into the engine. They call that "unit construction". I would guess they keep the bike transmission and run a driveshaft or chain to the rear wheels.
Engine:
You need to alter/change the oilsump to match the new circumstands in a car.
A stronger Clutch is also needed, maybe a Turbo
Diff:
Quaife sells all kinds of Diffs for this application.
Who said that small engines are not awesome in every light car.

Easiest is most likely a Citroen 2cv with a BMW Motorcycle Swap. Check with Sparrow Automotive

For the ones who know about bike engined cars, are the gsxr1000 and hayabusa engines the most suitable, for some reason, or are oter bike engines also suitable? For a new build so to say. And anyone know where to source brand new units from?
The easiest is probably the BMW motorcycle swap to a Citroen 2cv
@@MrRourk Im only interested in the engine and its ability to cope with G´s in a car etc. I think some engines have dry sump and that would be nice to have. But since I´m not going to compete, and I want to take passengers on track (weight) I think a K-series is more suitable for my application.

This is a really well put together car, you can see it trying to slide but the aero and the driver are working so hard to keep it planted! The proportions to the DTM car are incredible as well! But, it really makes you wonder how small that car actually is because if the roofline barely makes it above the barriers, the driver must be sitting an 2 inches off the ground!!!
