VW Taigun .
Its a non-nonsense car , its basically still a CAR . Its easy & fun to drive , also navigation is easy through its infotainment system. Just a better value at the price point . Moreover it atleast looks a crossover/Mid Size SUV , Astor doesn't even come into a category of crossovers, looks more like a botched up hatchback ...

Cars like Astor pushes other cars to have more features & creature comfort at a value for money price point. And for people who are swayed by the build quality of Volkswagen, do check out Astor because you are in for a surprise, do not make perceptions based on China’s investment in MG. Do take a test drive, it might change your views about Astor.
Took. Test drive still taigun and kushaq build quality is super. Back seat tight support is best in vw cars. Compared to mg. Interior is so luxurious in MG. Driving is fun comfort and uncomparable in vw cars. Booked kushaq

everyone said that.. I took TD and didn't find its build any special but I do remember a lot of reviewer pointing that out .. my XUV3OO doors felt at least twice as heavy
If you hide the MG logo, and that AI bot, that car from the inside looks very much like a VW. All the parts like the AC vents and all looks very much like a VW.
The Taigun is a panoramic sunroof and 360' camera away from being a perfect offering.
As for the Astor, the only thing British about it is that it's name is written in English.

I've bought an Astor CVT with ADAS and like the host says, for me, it's a complete package. My kids just love the panaromic sunroof and playing with the AI Bot. The parents and wife love the interiors and the comfort. I personally enjoy ADAS and feel confident while driving. Also get an avg mileage of 14 to 15 kpl which i feel is a great mileage. Looks wise and build wise as well, its a solid car. Yes it's not a driver's car, fun to drive etc. but me and my family are totally satisfied with it!

You get 14-15 in city? The sellers in india say you only get 10 kmph in manual variant...can you please clarify?
I did a tank to tank test last week where i checked the mileage exclusively in city conditions. I got a mileage of 12.5 kmpl with ac. On highways i get 16 to 17. The figure that i quoted was the average when you look at both city + highway

@@raunakbhagwane1259 True, with all the downgrade from a German CBU car, it is still levels above the competition. And one thing which very less people know, you keep these current German and Korean cSUVs in sun for few days and you will notice the plastics will start smelling in the Korean cars. The quality is not visually low, but they are very low, and everyone just thinks, ahh its a 4 year old car, what do you expect. Check any 10 year old polo and vento and you will know what quality actually means.

Astor 1.5 CVT is super laggy and has a very progressive pickup. Taigun 1.0 AT has a very clean pickup with minimum lag and feels much more powerful. However, interior and exterior are better in the Astor in my personal opinion. I’m unable to decide on which one to buy unfortunately.

Taigun GT is the SUV for enthusiasts and petrol-heads! The rest can pick whatever they want!
MG Astor is pure luxury, particularly the top end Savvy Turbo AT trim. No other car in its segment compares to its build quality, luxurious interiors, tech and safety. It's an international model quite popular in UK and Europe too. Its ADAS too works perfect and far better than the competition. Great job by MG!

1:55 I appreciate the edit but this split screen setup is kind of confusing and failing to highlight a lot of details that you're trying to show. Well, the comparison was to decide which one is from Heart and which one from Head.
Obviously, the winner is which you buy making a mindful (Head) decision.
If you make decision based on where your Heart goes, you would've bought already before seeing this vid :).

Mg Astors suspension is overly soft it feels plush at low speeds but feels like it will literally tip over and roll in corners

Taigun any day if u r a enthusiastic..
Astor will be limited to usage in city confines due to soft ride but Taigun will be absorbent at low speeds and will have great high speed manners and handling and as an added plus you can power through the biggest potholes you can find.
Install taigun 1.5 DSG engine in Astor.. it will solve the problem.. 😜

I have went through the test drive of both vehicles on same day. If you drive Volkswagen you cannot like any other. The driving comfort and we feel the German car. VW build quality, first we have to consider safety. If you want superb driving experience , safety and build quality go for taigun. If you need features more astor. Even seat comfort also vw taigun I felt best.

One thing to note is peoples fancy of panaramic roof . People don’t understand what happens when the car turn turtle even at a speed of 30 k mph and as most of the rare seat passengers don’t wear seat belts.. it sure is a tough situation.Not to mention the heat it brings and a burglars delight . Will u sleep peacefully in a tough neighbourhood. Total fancy.

Nice review, both car are great in their respective way but Astor is little better IMO, as it is slight better in terms of build quality and preimmunises of the car.

Does Taigun has ADAS? If not, what driving dynamics does it have? Oh, a stiff suspension which feels bone rattling on Indian roads. Corner carving isn’t the only way to judge a car brother. And looking at the overall package it is actually Astor which is galaxies away from Taigun

Comparing two extremes
Taigun is compared with Seltos segment. But in real world it looks very small and narrow. Feels like it is as small as sub 4 meter segment. With so many reliability issues and Unreliable DSG, the VW customers are going to suffer in long term.
It just feels that way. But it isnt! Sit inside the car you will know what Im talking about! The legroom on offer is better than Creta and Seltos. And about the reliability issues. There is nothing of a deal breaker! DSG has come a long way, there is no point in cribbing about the past issues it had. It is still the better automatic we have in the country today at this price point.
I took the test drive of both cars. The Astor interior feels very classy and luxurious, and also, the outlook is too awesome. I feel VW should concentrate on appropriate pricing and high volumes. Breaking was also of the same calibre in terms of performance. If you are a techie, then this car is for you.

I had the same thoughts. Good quality hard plastics will last for a lifetime. Moderate or substandard quality soft touch materials will wear off in 5 years time.

Definitely a no brainer…we also have the 1 liter at and it’s just pull and revs so nicely even engine noise is not evident once u begin driving

I don’t know why all the auto journalists fail to address the cabin ambiance ie. smell & engine heat insolation .. you all will agree to me if one will drive a polo Gt tsi Dsg (2016) & a Honda city petrol . The instance difference will be notable and then all this comparison will become more fair . The Germans build nice cars but trust me when I say that those cars are not the best place except the drivers seat just becz of a suspicious foul smell that it constantly throws into the cabin.... it’s unbearable even after putting ac on .

Taigun best looking? Well it's a personal choice. But wait wait taigun comfortable? Kidding right? 3 log bhet ke dekho bhai, 10mins mai uncomfortable lagta hai. Adas and sunroof kaafi hai taigun reject karne ko. But of if u are in 20-25 age bracket and want just pickup and race then maybe taigun is for u, other than that in every , i repeat every scenario, Astor is definitely a better choice.
The rear seats in the Taigun are more comfortable than the Astor in general ... perhaps not for 3 but undeniably so for 2.
I think people have not actually sit in Taigun after checking out Astor ....
Its fabric seats are just more comfy and the space is a step ahead than Astors , 3 Slim adults can very well sit in the real, but two is the best with more space & roomie feel than that of Astors .

Trust me, Astor ki bhi bohot jyada Full size suv jitni comfortable toh nahi hai, but definitely much better than taigun, also uski width jyada hai, toh woh naturally hi todhi jyada spacious hai

And same 3 log dono gaadiyo mai bhete the, and Astor was much better than Taigun, much much better, plus leather upholstery ki toh baat hi alag hai, ekdum rich feel hoti hai toh impression bhi aata hai. Ha, hector/xuv 700 jitni nahi thi but taigun se toh much better thi.

For 20 lacs buy a XUV700 ax3 , the best is class spacious and it also comes with the fun of diesel engine
Not everyone likes the bullish looks of xuv as it caters mostly to politicians, rogues, young bloods trying to show off. ..power is good , size is huge, practicality will be great for 6-7 passengers but a small 4 member sophisticated family might go for small so called pseudo suv. That's ok....
If I have 20 lakhs i ll never opt for Mahindra rather put my money on Germans 1.5 or tata if needed a bigger space..if could shell out more then there is a real big boss that's Jeep compass...
