Great info! The steering stops are on the wish-bones and you never want the rack to be the steering stop smacking up against the bushings, seals and hyper extending the rack boots.
Love the videos your getting more technical on you vehicles love that messaged you before about getting more technical you responded you don't remember probably you doing a great job keep it up
Haha thanks Petr.I went through this about a year ago on my 2000 Taco.i got the 800$ rack from Toyota dealer, and yes it was beautiful! Bad part,I paid local yocal 300 to install uncentered.Had to pay,yes 300 to get corrected.Hope that guy fed his kids at least.
I just recently changed my rack and pinion and it wasn't centered when I bought it and forgot to double-check it totally sucks my left turn isnt as sharp as my right turn anymore
The rack on my 09 Camry has started leaking. It seems to be very small now and has only partially covered the outside of the boot, and the level is still good in the reservoir. I suppose it's wishful thinking that changing the fluid(never been done) will stop it? Should I try a stop leak? or just wait until it's bad enough to replace?
Uhh changing the fluid really won’t do anything might as well try stop leak I would think and just get a little bit of extra life out of it but it will need replaced at some point.
How many miles? Feels a tad early for the rack to go... I'd try a small hint of Lucas power steer stop leak first, see how that goes. It could also be an oil leak from the engine blowing back onto the boot, since the reservoir level remains good.
@@waynes.2983 Service specify flushes tontos the system of contamination. The system is not 100% sealed. Water and dirt enter the system and those hoses break down due to age and heat of the pump and atmosphere. This ends up saving owners money in the end. Otherwise, Toyota would not sell new and remanufactured rack and pinion units.
I sincerely appreciate your can-do, positive attitude and infectious smile, your videos always put me in a better mood. Thank you my friend.

Well.. I'm asking if the rack and pinion is O'Reillys??
Where is he located at?

This looks like a Masterpro from O'Reillys. Just wondering if it's a worth it??
👍👍👍
Is that a Toyota(NEW) part or a quality rebuilt unit? If it was rebuilt, what brand? Thanks!!
I was wondering the same thing, and damn I hope he springs for some new rubber, I can't believe anyone would even drive on those things.
I watched the video again to find out. At 6:00 you can see the box and it says Master Pro. Peter called it"A brand-new unit"
Remember to flush your rack and pinion units every 30-35,000 miles. Using the proper fluid or high quality synthetic fluid.
On my tacomas like this I never flushed the rack. It never leaked, never gave me any problems at 233,000 miles. Still filled with original fluid.
