mm great .. seems like u can put the "zero" point anywhere and it still gives you the exact number of turns to split in half ... so any point in the entire "circle" turns the exact same number of turns after you turn it to one end. cool !! I'll double check by coming back from the other end, it should fall right at the 50% mark we just made. coool !

I CENTERED & LOCKED my steering wheel before removing the old rack. Took the new rack and centered it using this procedure, but once I tried insert the flat sides of the spline into the corresponding flat sides of the steering knuckle, they wouldn't line up! In order to get the respective flat sides to line up properly, I had to slightly turn the steering knuckle, but NOW my steering wheel is off center and I'm not sure how to PROPERLY correct it! I did carry over the exact same measurements from the end joints when reattaching my tie rods, but the wheels did not center when doing this UGH!!
🤔 SORRY TO HEAR THAT, SOMETHING MUST HAVE GONE WRONG IN THE INSTALLATION PROCESS, IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT IF YOU ARE OFF A FEW DEG. LT OR RT THAT DURING THE ALIGNMENT PROCESS IT WILL BE CORRECTED BUT I MAY BE WRONG ABOUT THAT, I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE ALIGNMENT PROCESS NEVER DONE THEM IN MY AUTO REPAIR CAREER, GOOD LUCK, TY FOR WATCHING MY VID.😊

So does it really matter where you put your first line to start? Meaning if it was not centered when you first started the centerline does it matter?
Any R / P will center if done correctly, I centered this one from scratch new out of box so if you count the turns and deg. you should be bang on or very close.
Man I wished I came across this two weeks ago! Unfortunately, I didn't center my rack and pinion and now my steering wheel is all sorts of crooked. It's currently upside down when I drive!!!
Is there any way to center the rack & pinion without taking it off? Or do you have a tutorial on how to center my steering wheel?
Sorry to hear that! I feel bad for you man ): sorry for that. Eric the car guy has a video on this exact same thing. I will see if I can find the link.
Don't know if you got this fixed, but one method I've used is to get my wheels straight, and just pop the steering wheel off adjust accordingly. At least that's how I've approached that situation.
@@Plazmattack I'm just not sure to do this just removing the steering wheel and making it vertical again; wouldn't the clockspring be off too to begin with? I think that rack n pinion would be straight according to the wheels but the clock spring would'nt be quite centered. maybe I'm wrong.
