Canyon Matka is 30 min. drive away from the center of the city and it's the most popular recreational spot for the people of Skopje. Here, you can go hiking, kayaking, fine dining, take a boat trip across "Treska" lake/river (±3,5 EUR) or see "Vrelo Cave" - one of the deepest flooded pit caves in the world, home to 200 endemic plants. At the canyon, you can see vultures, bald eagles protected by extinction law, and species of butterflies that can be found only here. Also, it's a hot spot for world championships in kayaking.

City/Central park (since 1905) is spread across 4361 hectares of land and is 12 min. walk away from "Square Macedonia"/the center of the city. The park is home to the Skopje ZOO, The Museum of Natura History, "Rabotnicki" Football and Basketball Clubs, "Vardar" Football Club & "Toshe Proeski Arena, Jug (South) Tennis Club, and a lot of bars and restaurants.

Vodno Mountain is 3 min. drive away from the center. Multiple spots along the main road are convenient for the start of your hiking journey. You can travel by car until "Middle Vodno" where you can have a picnic under the shades or take a cable car to the top.
