- Finally, we make it to Skopje, capital of North Macedonia! 🇲🇰
We had our doubts as to whether we would find a feasible parking spot but it worked out great and we LOVED exploring this interesting and characterful city.

I went there in 81 in a VW bay window camper van, it was great then also, very safe and friendly with great food and not expensive, good memories for me. 😊👍👍👍👍👍😀
City looked interesting .. I was in 🇽🇰 Kosovo 2004 it was in UN control and not on any map ..back then 😊

😊 Thanks Mike! Inerestingly, there is still almost no "streetview" in Google Maps throughout Kosovo.
Hope you enjoyed your stay in Skopje! Although i wouldn't personally call it our best city (Prilep, Bitola, Ohrid, Veles and even Strumica can take that spot), it's still worth checking out!

@@WeWillNomad Ohrid is truly a gem of a city! Veles and Prilep are def cities you'd want to visit. If you get the chance: when you get to Prilep, see if you can visit Markovi Kuli (or Marko's Towers).

Speaking of summit crosses, 500 km NE of Skopje bird flight (Romania) you can find the Guinness World Record 'Tallest summit cross' in the world *Caraiman Cross* - 40m high at 2300m altitude, built in 1928, all materials carried by donkeys, not accessible by car, reachable by cable car + 1h walk. Just FYI, I know your planned trip doesn't include RO. BTW I would have chosen Romania before Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary. I've visited all countries in the region more than once except Albania. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks, we'll mark that for when we visit Romania (with a note to rest up for the hour long walk)! There's so much of the world to see, but we're trying to visit the Western Balkans and some smaller countries that we haven't visited yet in this trip and leaving the larger countries for another time. Quirky city. It looks like an Ancient Greek style kind of Disneyland
It's definitely a bit of a mish-mash. Architecture aside, we could easily spend a few weeks there as it has everything to make a good base.
