    Just beginning to look at buying my first bike, so watching videos like this are quite helpful. Spicy - I also like that you change up the camera perspective - you mount it on the back, mount on the front, and you show lots of starts and stops to let us hear the engine, the shifting, etc...brilliant. Thanks for making and posting this !

      Nigel Fisher I bought a hold over gsr 750 partly cuz of Spicy's review too. I would of considered waiting for a hold over of this model, but since this new model came out I got my for a steal. I got it new for the same price as a ninja 300 or r3. But in the US where I am the gsr was always called the gsx-s and only came out like a year before the 1000. I was a bit disappointed at first (I was and I wasn't cuz I thought I would want to gear it down before I would like it and was expecting to do that), but after about 700 miles on it, the bike really woke up. Some of the reviews I see where someone doesn't like a bike I wonder if it is because it isn't broke in yet so it feels like a dog. But yeah here it originally was 7999 US Dollars and I got the hold over for 4999.

      Similar thing for me too. The GSR750 has been available for a number of years in Australia. One dealer was running 1 out for $9990. The NEW GSX S750 are $12,990 ride away. So I nearly bought the GSR, but I wasn't sure after watching Spicy's video on the R. By the time this video came out the R that was on special was gone. Then one of my local dealers bought 3 GSX S 's that were used at the press launch, with around 400kms on the clock. They were selling these for $10,800 on the road, so over $2k saving. I'm 6 2"', the bike was everything Spicy said. The bikes, gearbox, suspension and that engine sound. I felt so at home on it. I've only hard it for 6 days, so I was using it for my daily commute, that was until this morning. I managed to get it out on Fathers Day. I did my usual mountain run, loving it more and more. I agree, it better now that I've got about 1,000kms on it (check your chain). Things can only get better. I've ordered a new muffler and can't wait to get this on.

    Great review Spicy, I recently bought a Gsr750 2012 here in New Zealand, only reason I didn't get the new gsx-s750 is that it was $5000 more, pretty substantial! It's a really fun bike to ride. 750 is a good size, can get higher up in the revs for some excitement when needed, has very nice feuling, no snatchy throttle. Also light and nimble, sweet bike.

    I rode the 1000 last year when Suzuki did their cafe tour thing and it was lovely. On the forums owners complain a lot about the throttle being twitchy but I never noticed it. I think even the 1000 I rode was averaging 53MPG being hammered on test rides. I almost bought one but decided I wanted something a bit more practical for touring.

    I rode this bike yesterday and have to agree totally with your review. Only picky thing I found was slight lack of initial bite from the front brake, but still very powerful. Much too good to be labelled a commuter bike, I liked it so much I bought it. The biking press need to stop comparing this to its competition and review the bike on its own merit like you did, it might not be as bonkers as an MT09 but not everyone wants that, this bike is a bloody good piece of kit

      @spicy110  7 років тому +5

      +Craig Halpin thanks dude I agree with you too. That's how I do all my reviews I don't read any reviews or listen to the media. I just swing a leg over the thing and ride it and say how it feels, and I really mean feels you get a feeling of a bike quite quickly as it tells you what it does and doesn't like and what it's best at.

      Here is the problem with your thinking, people are going to spend a lot of money on a bike, they would like to know how it fares to the competition, they would like to get the most bang for their buck. If bike A, B , C all look similar(Naked) and are priced similar, and make similar power, *THEY WILL BE COMPARED*

      Professional testers review bikes day in day out, and often just select the most exciting. At the end of the day they just hand them back and do not have to live with them. I tested the Suzuki, MT-09 and Z900 and of the three preferred the Suzuki. The MT-09 felt toy like, the fueling was not great and it was quite unsettled at speed. The Suzuki felt much more planted and really handled and turned in well. The Z900, surprisingly I found it uncomfortable and the leg room was too tight.

    Took a test ride on the GSX-S750 and there are just a few things I would've liked to see. Adjustable clutch lever. Increase the RPM limit by 250 because with the shorter gearing it can sometimes feel like you're running out of the revs too quickly. And reduce the weight just a bit. Oh and maybe adjustable rebound on the dampers.
    Overall it's much much better than the GSR 750.
    Oh and the "shouting" you get from the airbox at 5000+ RPMs is sweet.

    Hey Spicy. Four years on and still a great review. Thanks. Is it still the middle weight do it all bike to buy? I have test ridden one and loved it. Super smooth and quick if you ask it to be. Would get a small screen for the wind. Looking to trade and the base MT09 is about stg1450 more than an almost new GSX, stg700 more than new. The Mt 09 is hyped up with the new look, amazing tech, adjustable suspenders and one wheel salutes all the way. Still tempted by the simple thrashable steady through corners GSX. Classic GSXR growl under pressure. I mainly ride in the city and absolute speed is not possible. No intention to do wheel stands. Also get into some gnarly winding roads which are my favourite, pushing my CBR500R out of corners. MT07 an option but suspension too cheap for my needs. What are you thoughts GSX vs the MT09? Still a great little bike in 2021-22?

    This really is an excellent video. I'm looking to get my first big bike in the coming months. From your experience do you think this would be ok? The fact it has a smooth throttle in the lower RPMs, with nice handling and ride makes me think this is definitely worth a test ride.

    Personally i think theyre a great looking bike, i like this one in the blue colourscheme myself.
    Only thing that puts me off is the fact of it being an inline 4 compared to a twin. Are the levels of powere and torque still there at mid range rpm, or do you really have to wring its neck?

  • @shustyrackleford7356

    Nice ride review, man! Just got back from a demo ride on this one. I loved it! I even preferred it to the 1000, even though the 1000 has really nice components on it. I just wish you could get ABS on the red one. (The Suzuki reps told me that only the black Z model gets ABS...) I think that with some basic mods (exhaust, shorty levers, tail tidy, integrated signals, frame sliders, etc.) this bike would be the perfect streetbike. I'd probably pick this over the MT-09, actually. Even though I love the triple sound and character, I found the 4 on the GSX-S 750 to be just fine for street use, and plenty fast when you wind it out. I bet you could get 130HP out of these with basic mods!!!

    • @spicy110

      +Noble Mullins if it's 2017 it must have abs so that's a bit odd. 🤔

    • @shustyrackleford7356
      @shustyrackleford7356 7 років тому

      Yeah, I thought so. It was a 2018 in red, btw. I even noticed the sensors on both wheels...(These might be TC sensors that measure front/rear wheel speed) They said "Oh, we swap out wheels all the time on different bikes, so maybe these wheels are from the one with ABS." Kinda irritating... Why would it only be an option on the black one? I hope that they make it an option, otherwise, I'd get something else. ABS has saved me so many times and I'll never get a daily rider without it.

    I own two bikes that have been out of the market for a few years now... 2009 Yamaha fz 6 n and 2012 honda cbr 600 f ABS. I like both very much. The engine of the fz6 is quite smoother, without any sort of vibrations, and also gets less hot in the traffic. The Honda on the other hand, has a more refined handling and brakes, and also is much more beautiful. I do not know if you have riding experience with these bikes but if you had to give away one of them for the Suzuki, would you do it? Which one?

    Now in 2023 there's a lot of talk about the BMW M1000R , The Aprilia Tuono, the Ducati Streetfighter V4, etc. I'd rather have this GSX-S than those for a lot of reasons. Obviously, the highest end nakeds are marketed to people with more wherewithal than me, but I think I'd be able to enjoy the Suzuki more since I mostly just commute.

  • @ndperson1

    Was kind of hoping when they updated the gsr 750 that they would have put in slightly more aggressive cams. No, not like the gsxr, but somewhere in the middle between the gsr and gsxr 750. I think it would have really helped it be competition to the fz 09 in that it would be providing something different than the fz 09. The mild cams they use for torque don't exactly make the most sense since the fz 09. You are gimping the top end of a 4 cylinder, which is what they are good at, and trying to compete with the fz09 in an area that it will always be at a disadvantage being a 4 cylinder instead of a 3 (meaning torque). But just a thought. I still like it and would get one down the line. I just got a hold over gsr (called gsx-s always in the US though) for an absolute steal. I got it literally for half the price of a base model street triple new. Love motorcycles, but I will always try to get hold over and if possible, models that just got replaced by a new model, since you can get great deals. It does also mean though that you tend to get the slightly less popular ones though to get the best deals. They dropped the price of street triple 675 since the new model came out, but not near as much

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  7 років тому +1

      +Melvyn Kirkpatrick I have not ridden the 2017 1000. But I have ridden a couple of 2016 Suzuki bikes claimed to have "starchy throttles" and tbh I think people were being a bit picky and making it out to be a bigger deal that it was. Any snatchyness is only in take up and can be accounted for. As for this bike it's not something that stood out and defo less than the 2016 bikes.

    Great review, you talk about things that are important to me. New subscriber here!
    I had an MT-07, a Street Triple 675 and now I have a 2017 Suzuki SV650.
    I'm a little obsessed with slick gearboxes and low vibration engines.
    For me, the SV650 has the best gearbox of these 3 bikes. And it has a smooth engine for a twin, even better than the Triple, because of it's lower frequency vibrations.
    Could you tell me how this new GSX-S750 compares with the SV650 in confort (position, suspension and seat), engine vibration and gearbox quality?
    Thanks!

      Thank you for the reply Usman!
      I'm from Brazil.. Suzuki does not offer test rides here... Here in my city, I can only test drive Triumph bikes.
      My main concern about the GSX-S750 is comfort. You wouldn't believe how bad the roads are.
      If it's stiffer and sportier than the new SV, like the Street Triple, it would be a deal breaker for me.
      But miracles can happen.. If Suzuki offers me a test drive, (maybe because I bought the new SV650) I'll let you know.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  6 років тому

      +Antonio Tostes Jr I have a review of the sv650 but what I would has is this is far better it just feels like so much more bike, the suspension on the sv is fine but not as refined feeling as this. Still love the sv depends what you want from it really. But if it was be money no object I would have the 750

    • @usmanmohammad7417
      @usmanmohammad7417 6 років тому

      exactly what spicy said. GSXS750 feels more like a real motorcycle where the SV650 is just like a learner kind of bike. I can assure you that you're not going to regret your purchase if you bought the gsxs750, the suspension and comfort is all tuned to street use so it should not be really that much of a big deal. Lastly that sound tho, everytime you find something negative about the bike, rev it up and you're gonna forgive it.
