    I wish i had seen this video before i started on my project! Definitely gonna use the trick for the rounder corners and get a staple gun. I just used packaging tape before i watched this video lol. I ordered more contact paper and might have to redo some sections. You live and you learn! Thank you so much for the tutorial. Thank you, I'm so glad to have you here! It's all a learning process, I wasn't sure what to do in the beginning either! That's the nice thing though about the contact paper, it's easy to replace if you mess up or just want to change it. I hope yours turn out well, good luck!

    Hi New Sub here! 🙋🏻‍♀️ I love this video. I'm so glad I came across it. I was thinking about doing this in a double wide Mobile Home I'll be renting out in FL. I was iffy about trying it. After watching your video, I'm gonna do my kitchen.... then tackle one of the bathrooms too! Your video is so detailed. I really appreciate the time you took to make sure everything was thoroughly explained. Thanks a bunch. 💐

    I have a "back splash" wood block type situation where the counter meets the wall. Should I do one continuous strip or should I cut its own strip and caulk it ?

    Hello. Thanks for your video. Have you ever tried using a heat gun or blow dryer to warm and stretch the contact paper over the rounded edges?

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  3 роки тому +1

      I haven't. I did see other people use that method but it looked wrinkled to me. That's why I did the slits and wrapped it around the corners the way I did. I think it's just personal preference.

  • @JoeTakagi00

    Can you use white caulk on black marble contact paper or would that look bad? Also, do you caulk the back lip of the counter? Not sure what it's called.

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  2 роки тому

      I'm sorry I'm just now seeing your comment! You can just any color caulking you want but I would say clear might work better with black marble contact paper. As far as caulking the back of the counter it just depends on your counter and backsplash. Mine has that metal lip so I didn't need to caulk it but if your counter just goes straight up to the wall or the backslash then I'd definitely caulk it. I hope that helps!

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! I had someone comment on my first contact paper video saying she added a layer of clear contact paper over her marble contact paper. I think that would probably give you some extra durability. If I was ever going to redo my countertops I'd probably give it a try!

    Hi question can you put contact paper over contact paper?

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  2 роки тому

      Yes you can! I haven't done it myself but I've heard from others that have layered clear contact paper over the decorative contact paper.

  • @trinabelt1580

    @The Nifty Nester, would liquid nails work for underneath the counter tops? I live in an apartment with crappy particle board “chunks” under my counter tops an my contact paper didn’t stick...I had to take it all off throw it away and cried lol

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  3 роки тому

      Oh man that had to be frustrating I'm sorry to hear that! I've had someone else comment before with a really similar issue and I honestly don't know what the best solution is. Using some type of adhesive would probably help keep it stuck to the counter but would also make it hard to repair if you have more issues with it and if you're renting it'll damage the original counters and the landlord might have an issue with it. Can you staple it to the underside of the counter edge like I did, would that help? Also if the landlord doesn't care maybe you could do an epoxy countertop? It's tough to work with damaged surfaces, I hope you find a solution that works for you.

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  3 роки тому

      Yeah it is a lot more expensive than the contact paper... what kind of material is the counter? Is it like a laminate countertop with the composite wood underneath?

    • @trinabelt1580
      @trinabelt1580 3 роки тому

      @@TheNiftyNester I wanna say it’s composite wood underneath… it’s basically your typical “crap” cheap “I don’t care” apt countertops and cabinets! I don’t even have a dang vent in the bathroom for the shower to suck up the steam. I’ve been here since 5/21/21 & already had to clean the bathroom ceiling as it looked like moldy spots…and I shower w/the door open

  • @ashnti
    @ashnti 3 роки тому +1

    Hi! How many rolls did you use to complete this project? My kitchen counter is shaped like yours but I also have an island, I see there’s an option for a 4 pack.

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  3 роки тому +1

      I believe I used 4 or 5 rolls. I did my counters including the island and the backslash. I did have some waste where I cut a piece the wrong size so I had planned ahead and bought more than I needed, maybe 6 rolls? I think I had one full roll and one partial roll left at the end

    • @TheNiftyNester

      I just replied to your other comment then I see this one, I'm glad you found this video! Did this help answer your questions about how it's held up? And as far as cleaners go, I use anything and everything on these. I usually use a vinegar water solution for all of my general countertop cleaning needs but I use a bleach cleaner sometimes when it needs a really good scrubbing.

    Are the seams very noticeable?

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  3 роки тому +1

      They are barely noticeable. I didn't tell anyone what it was and every single person that came over right after I did these thought I had put in new countertops. No one noticed the seams or even that it was contact paper until I pointed it out. I think the pattern makes it harder to see them.

  • @nikkihuds4265

    Thanks so much for this video! Question - do the instructions tell you to overlap the layers vs placing them down side by side, or did you choose to do that yourself?

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  4 роки тому +3

      You're welcome, thank you for watching! When I watched other tutorials before doing mine I noticed a few having problems with different things and that was one of them. Someone had laid them down side by side and was having trouble getting the lines perfect without leaving any of the original counter exposed and I just thought it made more sense to overlap them and avoid that issue entirely. Then I realized how well the contact paper stuck to itself and that kept it from lifting or anything getting in underneath the paper or where the two pieces meet. So it's not really a must but I think it works out better that way. I hope that makes sense.

    Can u put a hot pot on top of the counter top

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  3 роки тому +1

      You have to treat these like you would laminate countertops. You really shouldn't put anything hot on them, but I've broken that rule when I've been in a hurry and haven't had any burns spots so it's been pretty forgiving.

    Great detailed sharing, the rounded sides edges are what I was worried about while thinking to diy with contact paper.. 😊 Btw, will using penknife be the same as a exacto knife ?

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! I'm glad this was helpful. So a penknife is like a pocket knife, right? The exacto blades are really thin and sharp which makes it such a good tool to use right up against edges and corners and to get clean straight lines. If the penknife is thin and sharp like that I would imagine that would work fine, but if it's a thicker blade like a pocket knife then it might not be as precise.
