most straw curl videos are people doing it more as an experiment or something fun and kinda crazy but I loved how Kaley took it seriously and actually taught us how to do a hair style with straws
That moment when your natural hair is just like the final fixed version but you just straighten your hair every single day so it looks like kayley’s natural hair No one likes what they’re born with 🤦🏻♀️ Update: a year later, I enjoy and love my curls more than ever! I rarely straighten my hair anymore now that it’s a bit longer (past my shoulders)
@@taylorgayhart9497 more than likely you have curls too if your mum has curls and your hair is a frizzball/"naturally messy" try looking up the curly girl method to see what i mean
Hege Valle I’ve done it! It somewhat works, but it depends on the humidity, what products I use, how my hair is feeling that day, and if mercury is in retrograde. Every time I wash it my hair does something different.
@@taylorgayhart9497 feel you 🤣 i have the type of hair that if i wash it like a regular person and just let it air dry you kinda see floff and a bit of waves, but if i try and do the scrunchie method and the plopping i get a tiiny but of definition.. and then i touch it when its dry and its gone.. i did try a range of products from a hairdresser (i told them what i wanted) but it was just so insanely heavy on my hair i never felt it got clean.. so i figured i probably dont have curly hair... but having seen a few more videos, ive just realised that my white bleached hair is probably just too dead to hold a curl even with legit 100 dollars of products..
The head scarf thing!! Yes!! I used to be a curly girl, but my hair has become less and less wavy. I only need to wash it twice a week, but that means that after 1-2 days, what little is left of my waves is gone. I'll try the headscarf!!!
I'm so glad you are already up and making videos! You are so brave and I know all of us as your subscribers are proud of you for being so transparent through all of this! I love you!
Hey Kayley! Please could you do a video on styles to prevent getting kinks and bumps in straight hair (preferably for out of face looks)? Whatever style I do, I always get a kink where my hair band was!
With a scrunchy you get a lot less kinkage! For me, it's usually enough to slightly wet my hands and run them through my hair. Brush, and it's back to its natural light wave.
I am completely amazed by this. In the past I have tried many ways to get this curly hair that looks natural. With heat and without. Nothing helped. Until this straw trick. Thank you so much for sharing!
I love your new format where you narrate as you do the style instead of doing a voiceover! It makes the style and the steps seem even more manageable and approachable.
Hi Kayley, thank you for taking the time to list the alternatives to plastic straws for this type of curl. I found that the flexi-rollers worked better for me, and I'm reluctant as you to use plastic straws due to environmental issues. Love your work ❤️
I have 1A hair ( SUPER straight hair ), and I've been trying to find out how to get tiny curls like this for months! I tried it, came out a bit iffy, but still gave me at least some curls! Super thankful for this, TYSM!!!!!
It looks great and natural! Please do more naturally curly hair styles! I have naturally curly hair and always get bored with just wearing it down..I need more ideas on how to wear it.
You're a mind reader! I'm sitting with mini flexi rods in my hair and you uploaded this just in time for me to style them like you did lol Thank you for the great tutorial and tricks!
I have tried straw curls before and I absolutely loved the tight curls and I couldn't stop touching my hair. But I didn't get close enough to the roots, so I'm especially thankful for the tip for that problem. My hair is very thin and naturally very straight, so I had like two inches next to the part that were completely flat and then my hair became super big. I did this weird half up-thing so that I didn't look too dumb when I left the house. Idek why I told this unnecessary story, lol. The way I slept on them was that I basically did pigtails where I twisted the curls around each other and that gave me a much softer curl the next day.
I have watched SO MANY videos on this and yours is BY FAR the best! I'm a curly hair girl and you just gave me so many ideas of how to work with my hair on its own and to give the straw curls another try! THANK YOU!!! 💖💖💖
Yess!!! I missed your tutorials so much lately! It seems that you’re the best, most helpful hair style UA-camr (and you make all your tutorials so simple and explain everything so well, you’re like a god tier beauty guru or something)
I’m so excited for this! I hope it works in my SUPER long hair. I find curls usually fall out very quickly which is frustrating because it takes forever to curl in the first place!
Kayley, another (sustainable) option for getting these kinds curls is "rag" curling: folks in the 18th and 19th centuries used clean 6"x1" strips of old cloth to use a similar method you used in the video: with damp hair, instead of starting at the roots, you start with winding the end of your hair section around the cloth and then twisting it upward 'til you reach your scalp; then, you tie the ends together; repeat until all hair is in "rags." I've found that rags from an old clean towel works best if you don't want too tight of curls.
You can get those flexible hair rollers at the Dollar tree. 6 or so for $1 just FYI! May not be as nice of quality but you could definitely get a few uses out of them
You look SO adorable with those curls! This looks shockingly like my natural curl pattern hahahaha, at first when I saw this video recommended I thought it was from one of my curly girl method channel subscriptions lol.
I have naturally curly hair but I love the tips that you gave us! Definitely going to try the silk scarve because my hair is always a mess when I wake up!😭🦁
I would love to see a weekly progression of how to style these curls. Since my hair holds an AMAZING curl whenever I curl it, these would last literally all week and id love to see different ways to style these curls through out the week and on dirty curls.
I thought you couldn’t get ANY CUTER - but this vid proved me wrong! I always check out your videos but especially when I need to feel cheered up. Thanks, Kayley Melissa!!! This girl luvs yu!
Kayley! You look absolutely adorable(as usual) with those curls! Could you wedding hairstyles for short hair? And a tips and tricks videos for us people with dark brown or black hair?
Thank you SOOO much!!! I have really straight, fine, hair with no volume at all, and am constantly looking for efficient and easy ways to get some texture to it! The straws had NOT occurred to me yet! 😂 but I think I'll try it tonight
very very informative and even included an educational info about disposing straws. good host, easy techniques, straight to the point. great content all in all. so glad i found this channel 🌸
So happy to see you back. Could you do more videos of work hairstyles for us girls that HAVE to have our hair up? Ive tried the ones you’ve showed before but they don’t handle the 36 hrs shifts very well...
Are you a nurse? Anyway, whatever job you have to 36 hours at, YOU ARE MY HERO ❤ Missy Sue has many bun hairstyles, and if you don't make them "messy", I imagine they'd be very longliving 😊
I really like curly hair but haven't been able to find the time using a curling iron while having a two year old. I am definitely going to try this. Thanks
2nd day curls, heh. I’ve done these curls a couple of times and each time the curls stayed up 7-10 days, a bit different with each passing day but still very curly and fun :)
It is soo nice to see you back Kayley! I´ve been following you since your green backdrop days! And your videos are always my first option when I´m looking for anything hair related. Also, this video was great!
I sent my husband to the corner store for straws specifically to curl my baby hairs into ringlets. I told him I wanted plastic, but all he could find was paper. I’m just happy to see that you tested paper straws with this method. My hair doesn’t respond well to hot styling methods, but does wet set nicely. I’m guessing paper straws will actually help the hair dry a bit faster, as the paper will absorb some of the water.
Ooh!! I love these curls I’ve been doing them for about 2 years now and love it😍 they’re super easy and it’s so nice that they’re heatless but still look good too. Love you girly so glad your back💛
Super cute hairstyle and I love that you give the sleeping tip with the scarf! Always great to know how to preserve a hairstyle that you've spend lots of time creating :) And super random for me personally, I love how you're rocking colourful lips! I'm often a bit self-conscious about my thin upper lip, but seeing how you rock lipstick nonetheless, is really an encouragement.
Love you so much Kayley! All your side comments have me laughing and brightening up my day! I was wondering if you would be able to do a Kayley's Closet video? Kind of go through all of the products you have, what each would be for, why you chose them, and when you prefer to use them? I absolutely love the Herbal Essence Shampoo and Conditioner that I picked up after you mentioned it a while back and would love to see more!
I have naturally curly hair that looks almost exactly like this! I would love to see some hairstlyes done on your hair after curling it like this. I think that it would be great to see you do some styles for girls with textured hair and that would be a great way to do it!
Would love to see a part 2 of this where she does different styles with the curls. As a natural curly girl, finding easy but cute styles is hard. 😊
She actually has a curly hair wig that she uses. Go to her channel and search for them :)
Go and look up for sarah angius tutorials, she has beautiful curly hair and often makes tutorials on how to style them
I know right!! I just leave it down
most straw curl videos are people doing it more as an experiment or something fun and kinda crazy but I loved how Kaley took it seriously and actually taught us how to do a hair style with straws
“...tight curls show off any dryness in your hair...”
Us naturally curly girls know that one!
That moment when your natural hair is just like the final fixed version but you just straighten your hair every single day so it looks like kayley’s natural hair
No one likes what they’re born with 🤦🏻♀️
Update: a year later, I enjoy and love my curls more than ever! I rarely straighten my hair anymore now that it’s a bit longer (past my shoulders)
Embrace your curls! Its so gorgeous (as someone who needs a lot of hepp to get their curls to show up at all)
Sabine I am SO jealous of you!!! My hair has no shape, and is what my mom calls “naturally messy”, but she of course has perfect curly hair like you!

The sleep scarf trick is what my hair has been needing, thank you!!
you look STUNNINGGGGG with curls
"Boing" is now my new technical term for ringlet!
Lol, i have multiple natural boings all over my head!
I have long red hair, and this would be perfect to recreate a Merida from Brave hairstyle!
Or black widow!
This is exactly what I came to this video to do 😂
that would look beautiful!
Lol your profile picture is Merida

I'm a curly girl and I needed this, especially that sleeping turban tip! Thank you!

I missed you so much Kayley! With prom coming up, would you be able to make a prom hairstyles video?
I think she already made one.... you can search it up
PLEASE DO
She does have some formal and prom ones! And some for short hair!
Luxy also has prom hairstyles
Rip 2020 prom💀

Try the invisbobble hair ties. They sell them at Target & Kohl’s. I had the same issue and it’s all I use now.

You go girl. Sending lots of love and positivity your way ♥️

LOVE that you're thinking about the environment- so different to other beauty gurus
Curly hair is gorgeous 💖
This looks sooo good on you 😍😍 I could imagine you in Mamma Mia, you look like young Donna 😍

LOOK WHO'S BACK BACK BACK, BACK AGAIN GAIN GAIN. We missed you love! However, take your time getting back and please don't overwork yourself!
This has to be the first UA-cam video in years I've been able to sit through all the way without skipping or looking away. Love it!
I loved your TED talk on straws! So informational and fun to watch!
You're a mind reader! I'm sitting with mini flexi rods in my hair and you uploaded this just in time for me to style them like you did lol

Thank u so much! I was born with natural curly hair but then my mom started to brush it alot so now I have wavy hair🙂
My hair does this naturally in a less structured way, so I find this very interesting as an option to touch up frizzy parts of my hair.
I love these curls! They look so natural! I'd love more videos about styling this type of hair both with these curls and with your curly wig.
You could also definitely use perming rods which I think are fairly inexpensive and you can vary the size of rod x
Yes! 80’s Kayley! Love this video.

Kayley Melissa Yes! They don’t require a lot of prep time so I can do it really quickly before bed and have great curls in the morning which I love
I am going to try this on my daughters hair! Nice look!
I've been subscribed for years, but I have a great tingly feeling watching this because I feel like I'm meeting a new you. Keep at it, Kayley
Love the silk scarf idea - I'm going to try it on my natural curls!
