If you're worried about having too many Earth-based episodes, the Heart of Darkness-inspired story could probably be set in space, with Earth Empire forces on an alien planet. What I don't get is why change something if it is going so well? If the term has been heard 'if it is not broke, don't fix. Also how does one lady determine what is allowed on tv? Does she have incriminating evidence against the higher ups at the time which made them look into alternatives. How many other shows has she destroyed I wonder. If Philip Hinchcliffe stayed on one more year, it is a possibility that when the Doctor regenerated, that it might have been a grimmer storyline for Peter Davison to fill the shoes of Tom Baker. Hence another story editor might have been in mind that possibility would have made the suspended year nonexistent. I get if the Key To Time stories are a pivotal point of DW, I am sure that The Armageddon Factor would be caught up in the writer's strike but because it closes off the storyline, they will finish it later than expected of course maybe condensed into a 4-part story instead of 6 to make room for the next series.
Tom Baker would’ve still done his 7 years. And it wouldn’t be very likely for Hinchcliffe to stay on for that long, so he wouldn't have to worry about the regeneration. Even if Hinchcliffe did have to cast a new Doctor, I doubt he would’ve gone with Davison. Davison's casting was more JNT's idea.
@@1000guy1 It would be a second time as Destiny of the Daleks wouldn't have been made yet. I mean, you could go with Hinchcliffe’s idea for a Dalek story that I mentioned in the video. It would just need to be changed a little to work more with the show’s then budget.

I think the season 15 finale be a dalek story
Why a Dalek story? 🤔

I don't think they'd have a TV campaigner as a producer if that's what you mean.
