We have a local burger chain in Toronto called The Burger's Priest, it was founded by a guy who dropped out of seminary school. They've got a burger on their menu called the Vatican City, it's a double cheeseburger but the buns are grilled cheese sandwiches.
Any self respecting burger joint in Winnipeg had a fat boy on their menu and you definitely did it justice. However, the nip holds near to my heart. Patty, Cheese and fried onions. Simple yet delicious.
George, I've been waiting for you to hit FatBoys of Winnipeg. My favourite is VJ's drive-in! You're burping that thing up for hours and you can smell it on your hands for hours.
It’s 2022 and two people who aren’t in a shared household or a relationship or whatever have just taken bites from the same burger. A truly momentous occasion.
Calgary especially has become a definite Burger Mecca. My three sons and I have tried over 35 different burger places here in the city. We have even created a burger ranking list.
Tuned in just to see if you'd cover the Winnipeg Fat Boy and was so happy to see it! Couple things: the chili should be thick (ie. not runny), small crumble on the beef, and is a basic Coney style but with oregano added (Greek). Second, if you dress the lettuce in the mayo before going on the burger, it works out nicely. Anyone hitting Winnipeg should check out New York Burger on Notre Dame; best fatboy in the city for my dollar!
Lived in Winnipeg all my life. The Fatboy here looked pretty good and we do have some newer places serving it with smash patties and good buns. All of the greasy spoon style places that have been around for years and years however either make a "meatloaf" style patty that's loaded with breadcrumbs, eggs and who knows what else or they've switched to a gross frozen patty. George was right that they don't toast the bun and while the one he used looked pretty nice, they typically serve a standard white bun (with or without sesame) that is often kinda dry. All that being said though nothing hits the spot quite like a greasy spoon Fatboy!
I live literally 25 minutes from the first dic ann's dinner that is still open to this day! Fun fact about it.. you have a conter with stools and a bit of room for.people standing in the back.. so tou sit down, order eat and leave beacause people are in line behind you to take your stool and eat! This video was the intro of Matty to me. I have since subscribed to his channel and went all the way down.....and I mean ALL the way down into the chaos and wow......what a journey. I know things now.....wonderful, dark, chaotic, weird, delicious things.... I always thought George was chaotic in his cooking but then comes Matty, lol. What a duo!
The Fatboy burger has a really interesting pedigree in Winnipeg, as it is a recipe that ended up splitting off from the original creators, to show up at a few distinct locations. Juniors Burgers is the original home of the Fatboy - but there is also VJ's drive through that does a burger and a hotdog in the same style, and then a place called George's submarines, that also does a burger that is an exact replica. The key is the chili - which is the one component of George and Matt's burger that was a little off. The Fatboy chili is very fine, quite smooth, with no big ground beef chunks. Also cheese isn't typical. I also liked the mention of the Salisbury House style burgers known as cheese nips, or regular nips. Salisbury House also has a signature pie for dessert that is weirdly unique.
Like if you want to see more of Matty and Motz!
So much more please, let these two have their own show together

i was looking for this comment bc i thot i forgot french when i couldn’t understand that
Motz!!!! I love the Motz. This man has changed my entire burger lifestyle.
George, I've been waiting for you to hit FatBoys of Winnipeg. My favourite is VJ's drive-in! You're burping that thing up for hours and you can smell it on your hands for hours.
My friend, a chef, loves VJ's burgers. I went once & it's the definition of a hole in the wall. A good burger.
Kilgore Trout, my favourite author. And what a wonderful surprise to find he’s living in Winnipeg!
It’s 2022 and two people who aren’t in a shared household or a relationship or whatever have just taken bites from the same burger. A truly momentous occasion.
I'm all about burgers and this video is awesome as it has a great combination of humor and information here and I enjoyed this a lot!!
The iconic, satisfied Matty smile made the whole episode ♡
Calgary especially has become a definite Burger Mecca. My three sons and I have tried over 35 different burger places here in the city. We have even created a burger ranking list.
Love that. Glad Canada still has families theyre going extinct here in USA because of greed
You can’t just tell us a list and not deliver!
@@The.Original.Potatocakes it's in excel I will do another video as it's been updated.
Please make this like a weekly show with both of them!! Two best first we feast host
My Go To place to have a Fat Boy is from Dairi Whip on Marion
I'm partial to George's but they make theirs without pickle.
these two are treasures and must be protected at all times!
I was so excited to see the Fat Boy!!!! I loved going to George's
Ah, the few things I've missed in Winnipeg, like family, friends, bars and food.
Effective! Montreal treasure! 👌👍♥️
I got to remember these Burgers if I ever step into Canada especially knowing that I have a Canadian relative
I love the chaotic, but positive, energy Matty brings to every single video he's in
Right up there with one of the best videos! Fun, Funny, Educational! Nicely done 🤘
I don' t know that I can handle all of the chaos energy that is Motz AND Matheson. Wow.
Proud winnipegger as if the fat boy was made by matty and george was a historical moment thank you so much it was perfect besides no ketchup other than that wrll done 💙 ✈️ 🍔
What a duo!
When I saw Canadian burgers, my first thought was "ahh, they're actually going to cook the meat all the way through, eh?"
That smile after he took the first bite of the Dic Anns burger. If that energy were harnassable, it would power a hundred homes
