Thank you Mike Morgan. Today, August 22nd will be forever known as "Tractor Day" in my household. At 7am my Rural King opens and my RK24 is ready for me to pick up, complete with loader, backhoe, grapple, box blade, and brush hog. I will be box blading a gravel parking lot today. Thanks again Mike.

I can't sing the praises of these small tractors enough. I have a compact Kubota B2650 and I absolutely love it! I was worried that it wasn't a big enough tractor to take care of 20 acres but I was wrong!

Hi mike , my name is Brian. I live in Cambria county, PA in the Mt. a hope area. I have been watching your videos for a while now and really enjoy them. I have a John Deere x728 ultimate tractor. 27 hp with 4wd. I have 3 acres that keep me busy with maintenance. I enjoy deer hunting especially archery. Keep the videos coming! Thanks

Very good video. I purchased my sub-compact tractor just a few months ago (John Deere 1025R) and was searching for videos like this just to get acquainted with the controls and what they were for. The features on both tractors are pretty much the same though some of the controls are located in different areas. I have been so happy with my little tractor and the back hoe has been SO useful for what we are doing (clearing 35+ acres of woods in Florida).
With that being said, I really like the features on the RK series of tractors. I am looking at purchasing a larger tractor for other needs, and the RK is definitely going to get a look from me. The fact that the rear remote hydraulics is standard is a huge selling point.

just got my RK24 home and re-watched this video to make sure everything was working correctly. I had the 3rd function kit installed and thought it was more intuitive for the loader to go up if you pushed the lever up and down if you pushed it down.

Very good Mike. I just got a new J.D.3025e and from watching your UA-cam video's i knew i wanted the rear remotes. I have dual rear remotes and pretty much had to figure out how to use it. They don't teach you at yhe dealership. So then you have to go to the manuals that comes with the tractor. I really appreciate your video's as they are very informative. Thanks Mike.
I got a rear sickle bar mower and a box blade. After seeing your video's i have learned a lot, especially on box blades. Tha ks again buddy.

Another great video. And there are indeed so many things that can be confusing to a new tractor owner (as I experienced, buying my first one late in life). People might soon propose more and more intros that you could do, like how to attach 3-pt implements, or safety features that can unexpectedly prevent operation, or things that can break in the field, or how to sharpen brush hog blades, and so on. And perhaps you will want to get into all those, but perhaps not. :-)
In that case, I hope you won't mind if I refer folks to the youtube channel for AskTractorMike. He does a WONDERFUL job of covering all such bases, focusing mostly on introducing things to newcomers tractor owners. but since he has many years in tractor support and sales he also has gret bits of wisdom even for long-time operators.
Anyway, keep up the great work and thanks for it.

Thank Mike. I was just thinking about buying a small tractor this morning when I realized that I can retire from my full-time gig in 4 years. RK looks like a great deal, but it looks like the nearest dealer is your dealer in Butler. But that’s okay since I’m looking to retire in either SW Pennsylvania, or northern West Virginia.
The pricing was very reasonable. I can get an RK24 with tiller, mower, front end loader, and a trailer to carry it all, for much less than a similar orange tractor.

  • @brianworley7705

One other suggestion is for someone shopping for a new tractor to see if one of the model they are considering is available to rent. Trying it out with a rental allows time to try the controls a bit and see if it fits your liking before committing to a purchase. May not always be an option but worth asking before buying.

One of the best PTO attachments around is a PTO driven generator. It hooks up to the standard 3 point hitch and you want to size it for the horse power of the tractor but it lets you have power where you can get the tractor or emergency power without an extra engine to maintain.

Very informative video for the first time buyers and users of small compact tractors. RK sure puts some good stuff on theirs as standard equipment. Something I did not see on this tractor and not sure if it is needed - - a leveling bubble for when you use the backhoe. Just wondering..might - if it needs to be - use a torpedo level on the metal casing top of your controls. Magnetic side on some of them.

Well, shoot! Now I have to consider the RK 24. The hardest thing is trying to decide if I really NEED the RK 37 (how great would that ac/heated cab be!) or if the 24 would suit my needs and then some. Of course, I could win the lottery and this whole Cost vs. Function would be a moot point! Thank you for the video, I will have my better half watch it for sure!

    • @jeremyhussey4645
      @jeremyhussey4645 6 років тому +1

I will leave the cab decision up to you but my experience has been buy the biggest tractor you can afford. I bought a 35 hp and traded for a 45 a year later. You won't upset about having more power than you need. Also you can pitch it to the wife that the cost per HP gets cheaper as you go bigger ;)

This would be a great topic for a video. I too would like to know if a rk24 or rk37 would better suite me. I need to work in wooded and hilly areas. It seems to me the rk24 would maneuver better; but like you said, a cab sure would be nice. I am concerned about any added clearance a cab would require when working in wooded areas.

My issue, too, Scott Z. Both mountainous (a ridge in the Cumberland Mountains near the border of Virginia with Kentucky) and forest that is raw, no work done on a good portion. We have acquired a pasture-like area that I will be turning into large (to me) garden plots as well. So I need to be able to work the land for growing and then hopefully be able to work some up the ridge. Also have to look ahead to winter and thinking on what can help us move a bit of snow, too.

Mike, additional thought for another video, Yesterday a friend called, hole in oil pan. He admitted that he had not memorized his warning functions on his new tractor. BUT, the tractor shut downautomatically when he did not. The low oil warning went off but he did not hear it over brush mower. Many newer tractor have these safety functions and thought it may be a topic for you.

Mike, I have called a couple of different stores, including the one I bought my RK24 from, and can't get a solid answer. I'm hoping you or RK Tractor Guy may have some knowledge on this. I’m late to this video, but I have a question. I am going to buy a sub compact and have been looking all over the internet. There is a youtube person with a LS tractor. On his , if you remove the backhoe, in order to go to a 3 point implement, you have to take off one of the rear tires to put part of the 3 point hitch on. Then you have to do the same thing when going back to the backhoe. Do you have to remove a tire on the RK24 when going from backhoe to 3 point attachment? Thanks.
