I think the loot about service made by Skoda dealers in the brand's primary years in India is haunting them forever. The problem with India's car market that the number of enthusiasts is so low that can't drive the brands sales.
How do you know after they get some good sales. They won't repeat the same???? Wait for 2 years they will struggle to sell even 1000 units. Its a big blunder that someone is paying 17 lakhs for a sedan/suv and is facing AC issues and company says we will rectify. Whatever the company says I still felt ac was not upto the mark for a 17 lakh car. No one wants to rectify anything after spending such a significant amount. Also there is big time lag in 1 L engine in initial 2-3 gears at which most of the car is driven in the city. No one is driving car on Racetrack and not everyone drives at 120+ speeds either. So it all boils down to the practicality in which skoda/vw fails big time as compared to honda/hyundai which can be improved by such a big brand like vw So rather than justifying vw as a brand call for them to improve and put their best foot forward.

I contacted Maruti support and they asked me to replace some part from inside near dashboard which got rusted worth cost 26K. I consider it as part of maintenance also due to light metal quality or cheap paint. I still own this car and most of body part under dashboard near engine got rusted and even ready to break down.
Hi Paji, hope you are doing great, I am currently confused between Honda City ZX CVT and Virtus Topline 1.0 TSI AT as both are costing us at around 18.5 lacs here in Udaipur. I love Honda City’s executive kind of interior design as it feels classy and posh, also the seats are more comfortable and ride quality is great. On the other hand, Virtus has better looks/road presence, definitely feels better built than anything in it’s segment, has better ground clearance and torque converter felt more engaging to drive than City’s CVT during my test drive. I like Virtus more than city from driving perspective as ever since we owned Figo 1 gen diesel, I am sucker for cars with good driving dynamics. But as soon as I read some of the ownership reviews of Virtus on team bhp, I am having second thoughts. Many owners are complaining about inadequate AC cooling and mechanicals issues like steering alignment issues that needs a regular inspection. Furthermore, internet is plagued with horror stories of VW/Skoda owners about the service quality which is further alleviated by a general notion that naturally aspirated engines are more reliable and easier to maintain against a turbo petrol engine. I am going to keep one of these car for at least 10 years. We have babied and timely serviced our figo which has clocked around 1.6 lac km and is still going strong. I don’t want a car with constant mechanical or sensory issues no matter how good it drives. As far as maintenance is concerned, I have always ensured timely services of my bikes/cars at company dealership only. Please suggest, what should I choose?!
Dude I have the same confusion. If you are in 120hp category, I won’t think of 1.0TSI. IVTECH is much better. If 150hp, then I’m considering the VAG. But really hearing the horror stories from owners each and every day. I’m actually thinking of used vento/polo 😀 Between virtus and Slavia feel different due to different engine tuning. Slavia felt sluggish IMHO

They are keeping a quota of 8000 cars (VW Skoda) per month for India & are able to sell that. Their customer is upper middle class mostly & repeated customer so that cycle has worked for them. Last year was very profitable because their car prices start from 11.50 lacs, remember.

Childish comments. why are you unnecessarily promoting VW Skoda. You are saying they are selling low cars by choice ? “They are selling 1 lakh cars in India by choice”. Can you make sense of it. They are struggling. No car maker brings mass market cars to sell 1000-1500 cars per month. VW Skoda leadership said last week they are struggling and now looking for partner in India. They may close also. I am not talking about the quality here. But your comments way of course. These low sales result in two major problems for consumers which you, I am sure, will not talk about. First, because of low sales and therefore low parts procurement, the parts tend to be costly. No question about it. That’s simple economics. Don’t try and defend it now. Second, spare parts support is very poor. I can tell you 5 parts of vento and amea and polo which are not available now. Some as basic as floor mats were not available. Consumers need to be careful with buying these brands and serviceability will be a problem in 3-4 years. Problem is these brands lack mass market appeal and equity for people to buy them.
I spoke with my heart, some facts, it hardly matters what others think. Thankfully such videos has helped many customers to understand these cars in their purchase decisions and thousands of them tag me on Twitter where our reach on auto is #1 pan India. Will keep on doing irrespective of the sales number. Happy that atleast m not promoting poor products.
@@SunderdeepSingh maruti is also no 1. But you don’t promote Maruti. It means nothing. Again VW Skoda cars are good but ownership experience is terrible. See limited number of service points. If even one closes it means I have to go 15 km for service. Buying a car is not just a one time decision as ownership remains for years. To buy VW Skoda today is unintelligent. Be ready for ownership hassles in future. I am only bringing out these facts because these are not mentioned so consumers don’t get a 360 view while trying to make purchase decisions. You dont need to answer to this. Your point is taken.

@@SunderdeepSingh Yeah, saw it now. Do you think if the Japanese wake up in India, then people will switchover from the Koreans to atleast the Japanese (Toyota/Honda/Mazda, if it comes to India) as it offers better overall reliability over a long long time (Toyota's 10 years on Hillux being an example) with very affordable service cost as well as good performance and driving dynamics (in terms of Mazda, Honda)? And will that further dent the VW group numbers? (As some of their service centers do loot the customers by adding unnecessary maintenance check-ups and whatnot, as you've posted in one of your videos) We do understand that Cars are being sold in the Razor-blade model, if you don't have the volume, you tend to jack up the prices of the parts and service costs! Well in that case, it is really disheartening for Indian budget car buyers to have this sort of “either or” situation.
@@sunnywagle8995 This situation made by Govt. by imposing exorbitant taxes.
I agree with you Sir, VW cars do last long but like you said the parts are expensive and I feel if overall maintenance cost is something people can afford then they should surely go for it.

I want share my ownership experience about my WagonR 2008 Model. I shifted to Mumbai in 2013 (before this it was under shade in Delhi), in Mumbai rains water started coming inside the car (Jul 2015), whole car started filling of water and I was very surprised that from where the water was coming then I came to know that it was coming from car's dashboard. I contacted Maruti support and they asked me to replace some part from inside near dashboard which got rusted worth cost 26K. I consider it as part of maintenance also due to light metal quality or cheap paint. I still own this car and most of body part under dashboard near engine got rusted and even ready to break down.
@@SunderdeepSingh Now, I am proud owner of Slavia 1.5 DSG.
Go for 1 lit TSI AT .. done with 19 k kms with slavia.. same 1 lit AT style .. it puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it ..
@@atuln.2438 how is the AC performance in hot summer? Have you faced any other issue with the Slavia?
AC is adequate.. improved after software update
Dude I have the same confusion.
If you are in 120hp category, I won’t think of 1.0TSI. IVTECH is much better.
If 150hp, then I’m considering the VAG. But really hearing the horror stories from owners each and every day.
I’m actually thinking of used vento/polo 😀
Between virtus and Slavia feel different due to different engine tuning. Slavia felt sluggish IMHO
if u want no nonsense car go for city , more reliable than than virtus any day . I still feel VTEC is better that 1L TSI

Did you see waiting time of skoda and vw more than 2months?

As far as long term ownership nothing beats Honda ...Honda is the epitome of long term ownership ...

The Japanese are not in this discussion?!
Took questions on the service video
@@SunderdeepSingh Yeah, saw it now.
Do you think if the Japanese wake up in India, then people will switchover from the Koreans to atleast the Japanese (Toyota/Honda/Mazda, if it comes to India) as it offers better overall reliability over a long long time (Toyota's 10 years on Hillux being an example) with very affordable service cost as well as good performance and driving dynamics (in terms of Mazda, Honda)?
And will that further dent the VW group numbers? (As some of their service centers do loot the customers by adding unnecessary maintenance check-ups and whatnot, as you've posted in one of your videos)
We do understand that Cars are being sold in the Razor-blade model, if you don't have the volume, you tend to jack up the prices of the parts and service costs! Then will VAG group move upmarket to justify the initial costs?

@Sunderdeep Singh my honda brio still runs like new..I had fun in old Maruti 800 too. I think nowadays technology has evolved to such a level that we just need to maintain the car they will make you feel you are driving it just like new. And even if vw cars are above than others then there is just 19 20 differences for which you can go for hyundai , tata, mahindra. I won't suggest Maruti just for their poor build and poor feel good interiors.
But toyota has beaten vw as well
In what? Not in global revenue & safety though
VW should work on falling sales numbers, no use of 5 star crash test rating
You didn’t watch the video

Maruti also can give u peace of mind and is way more better then ur useless polo...I hv driven polo bento they are just dumb cars wt diesel clutter they can't beat the feeling which u get while driving Maruti Hyundai. That's d reason VW didn't sell much.
Ford fall because of venture with Mahindra
Skoda is fun to drive but hyundai card are more practical
Because no one is going for race everyday ,build quality is also good for hyundai and better milege and now turbo engines also come so hyundai gives better value for money
Safety & dynamics are needed everyday. This is where the real research goes in. Precisely why Virtus & Slavia eaten into City & Verna.
Hyundai is craap. It will fall apart after few years
