I've already invested way too much, in controllers and mounts. IF and WHEN DJI does warm up to the idea of making a bigger size controller, such as the " 8" RC Pro ", I would buy it..after the battery on my current RC Pro no longer holds a charge :)
I bought my tripltek 8 pro a month ago in US and what I can say is that it is much better than my expectations ! I love it. I use it every days at 30 percent battery left. I charge it every days. Franck from France
Great comparison as usual. I have the Tripltek and love it (I also have a sim card in it 🙂) The freedom of not using my phone and I'm able to fly all my drones is priceless.
Great comparison of the these devices, you bring up so many great points. I went with the RC Pro, mostly because of the ease of use in the field, no wires to connect, no tablet mounts to deal with. But I understand why many choose the Tripltek, or just get both. Thanks for sharing.
You can always add a monitor to the RC Pro and choose whether you want mirroring or extended settings. You can leave all flight performance data on the small screen and the video feed on the monitor.
I pondered on both and went with the RC Pro, gimbal, zoom, 5 custom buttons and the range were the selling points. Another great video Xavier, now I want the Tripletec as well
Good honest review Xavier! I had the Smart controller with the Air2s. Just sold it on EBay and purchased the Tripletek 8. But you are correct you cannot Beat the pleasure and ease of the DJI Smart/Pro controller. But I wanted to get the Autel Evo LP, so needed a tablet. Here in SFL brightness on a screen is king, you can’t fly when IPhone blacks out. Peace.
I love my rc pro because of its convinience and portability ,plus its bundled with the air 2s so its more than half less the price of it if purchased alone and now its compatible on both m3 and the a2s👍🏻
Sold me on the RC Pro. The all in one solution. I bought the mount and used an iPad Pro for the Mini 2. You're right, the cables, the mount, etc. Ordering the A2S with the RC Pro.
Never thought about the rc pro, was using my phone or iPad to fly Air 2 and Spark until I saw a review of Tripltek 8 Pro. Bought it because it can do everything but I only use it for my 2 DJI drones. I'm recreation only and don't even mess with the lens controls for photos and videos.
I bought the original 7" Pro a while back now, and it does all that you have pointed out and more. The best available tablet for flying any drone and the best decision I have made for enhancing my drone flying experience. I bought the original Mavic Air 2 Fly More Combo when it launched , a decision I do not regret, and have no intention of upgrading to another drone, as it does all I will ever want it to do. Couple the two together and you have perfection.
Great video as usual, but really a comparison of the RC Pro vs the limitations of the standard DJI controller. Of course, if you pay $1100, the RC Pro should be a lot better. I upgraded to the Tripltek 8 pro from the Tripletek 7 pro and I really like it. The versatility is unmatched and it is faster and thinner than the Tripletek 7 pro plus you don't have to have a special mount to account for the thickness. As you stated though, if you plan to fly more than one drone, you must have the Tripletek 8 pro. Good Job!
👍👍✌️. Picked up this tablet a few weeks ago. Best money I’ve ever spent. Perfect size for me and the brightness is awesome. I would highly recommend it.
I have both, but lean towards the smart controller and Air2S for convenience and smaller footprint. I would die for a larger screen, though. With the SC, no more forgotten cables or worries concerning the tablet holder falling out.
I went with the TripleTek 8" since I fly my Mini 2 just as much as the Air 2S. And I'm waiting to see if the Autel Lite+ gets 10-bit log to purchase it. I just can't imagine a cinematic videographer noticing the difference in latency. Those numbers are so close that it would take a racing or freestyle drone to notice the latency difference. The penetration with the RC Pro is impressive and perhaps useful on some rare occasions relative to the standard controller. But we've seen Dustin use the standard controller to take the Mavic 3 out over 9km at altitude while apparently limited only by the battery life for RTH recovery. So it's stretch to find a reason to skip the TripleTek for the RC Pro. Particularly if you use the OriginaldoBo mount which doesn't require a bulky mount at all. It's flush with the tablet.
I have both and because of the screen size I always fly with the Tripeltek. You can tell if your subject is right before you take your shot. I have missed shots that weren’t composed like I wanted because of the short comings of the Smart Controller. I do however miss some of the buttons on SC but have adapted Nicely.
Great comparison of the two of which I have both I use the RC pro for my mavic 3 and I used the triple Tek 8 in for all my other drones I love both of them. Thanks for taking the time to put this together it was an excellent video.
Excellent comparison, X! I have the Tripltek8, which is so much better than using my Iphone(!), and on verge of getting the RC Pro! You made my decision process much easier!! Your wealth and depth of drone experience comes through loud and clear! Thanks!!
Good comparison as usual. Short and sweet. Downside -- way too expensive. I have been really happy with the performance of the TriplTek. It is the best. BTW, your other videos prove safe flying from the inside your car. Which is super helpful. Remain totally anonymous and unobtrusive.
I am purely a recreational flyer sooo I did purchase the TT8. I do a lot of 4-weeling and love to get lotsa usage with it..Truthfully I originally bought it for the display...@ 73 my eyesight/display usage on my iPhone/sunshade was a negative experience and now it's nice much more enjoyable.I go for weekend/week long trips and with the cell phone options, download some gps Maps, movies and long battery life It's kinda a one-stop tool for me. It was a good comparison of controllers though, as you pointed out the difference of the controllers for a pro are probably a decision maker. Thanks Again, Mike
Great review, thank you. I have just placed an order for the Tripltek 8 Pro from Canada paying CAN$1114 plus $40 customs clearance but I’m sure this tablet will make a huge difference in producing real estate videos.
I have the TripleTek 8” tablet. I bought the Air 2S with hopes of going to the DJI Pro but the timelines never lined up. At that point in time, there was no word whether or not it would hook up to the Air 2S. PLUS… The first generation of the smart controller had range issues and latency issues. I wasn’t sure how much improvement the newer one would offer us. I really dislike the way I have to hook up the tablet. it takes too long but once it’s connected and up and flying, I’m not having any issues with the older controller and the tablet.
Great video! I have the Tripltek and while I do love a lot of things about it - it just makes the controller awkward to handle I'm my opinion (either really top heart or bottom heavy). I used the original Smart Controller for a while with my MP2 and just had to many connection issues so I sold it and switched to the Tripletek. Worked really well with the MP2 controller - but now that I have upgraded to the M3 - I just can't seem to find a comfortable way to mount it to the controller and missed some of the controller functionality from the MP2 controller. Made the plunge and ordered the RC Pro after watching your video. Very glad to hear its a better version of the old smart controller!!
Excellent Comparison. The only thing I didn't hear you mention is that the rc pro gives us no microphone and camera and the tripltek gives us no hdmi out.
Did you mention the controllers also charge the Android tablets? IOS tablets have an option to turn it off. There used to be cables available that would reduce the charging of Android devices but I haven't seen them in a while. It would be great if they were available again. There's no need for the RC to charge a tablet with such a long run time. Another great and informative video Xavier!
Hi I've got the tripltek and the only things wrong that I've experienced is it won't play video that's been done with D-log and the weight it's dam heavy lol. Great video mate
Like the Tripltek heavy though don't own one, bought a Samsung TAB A7" Lite works pretty good light too. Now the review for me both are too pricey for the average recreational flyer? You can buy a Mavic Air 2 for those prices. Great review on both for the people that are interested in one or both.
Awesome comparison. I went with the TripleTek since I prefer to have a bigger screen with it above the control sticks. Also I tether it to my phone so I do not have to have 2 phone services to pay for.
nice review! I have the 7" TripleTek (older version) and the RC Pro myself it's useful to know the TripleTek 8 Pro has better (2.7k) resolution than the older ones
Thanks brother! I've been doing my homework about the Tripltek 8 and I think I'll be getting it. It sucks that my Air 2S RC is not compatible with the iPad Pro 11" iOS 15.
Tripltek hands down for me..as must as I like the rc pro it will be obsolete way before the tripltek…it’s already limited to 2 dji drones only and not backwards compatible for older models…the tripltek can be used for any drone make or model and it’s still a tablet that can do so many other things…not to mention it’s cheaper and future proof
Thanks again.... as they say Price Performance Convenience Pick 2 🤣Following your earlier video i jumped on that Air 2s RC Pro combo and lovin it and i think i have all 3 PPC.

Hi, good review video. Sky Fire Aerial sells controller enhancement kits for both the DJI and Autel controllers. No floppy tablets with those kits. The Tripltek tablet is second none for battery life and for use in bright sunlight. I also like the convenience of Smart Controllers. Each has advantages and disadvantages.
Good presentation as always. But I am confused. A few months ago you were very enthusiastic about the tripltek. Now you are saying that there may be a problem with latency responsiveness of the tripltek versus the RC controller. Otherwise, the tripltek does seem to be quite in advance. Very few UA-cam presentations actually discuss the pros and cons of the triple tech. Most are sales presentations -- only focusing on the NITS brightness. We want to know all aspects of the performance versus a newer iPhone. Your comparison is the best yet. Maybe one more follow-up.
The latency is not related to the display , it is related to the controller. He means the RC PRO vs the regular controller , the RC PRO has faster video feed on the specifications chart, although in the real world it is not appreciable by the human eye 0.15 milliseconds vs 0.18 milliseconds
@@AerialImg The TriplTek is wonderful. No problems Soooo much better than an iPhone. Would recommend without no hesitation. I can get hot but never dims like an iPhone even in hot ambient temperatures
@@FangsCPO no .. The guy said that the 1600 nit screen was a momentary value and that is normal screen brightness was about 500 nit. He told me I would be disappointed in it's performance for drone flying
I was disappointed the way the display is blurry when you scroll or swipe the screen. Words and images are crazy blurry! That's annoying enough I can't deal with it. Kicker is, I put my phone SIM CARD in the Tripltek and it shut my service down due to compatibility issue for 36 hours. Why has no one else commented on the blurry effect when you swipe the screen?! I haven't even got a chance to fly and see the look of the screen in the dji app yet and still ready to return it anyway. Please give me your thoughts on this.
I just ordered the Air2S/RC Pro combo. If I have the Fly app on my iPad, can I plug it into the RC Pro and use it as a standard controller with my iPad as the screen? Or alternately, could you use the Tripltek tablet with the RC Pro for those times when you need a larger screen? I'm not concerned with mounting either of those screens to the RC Pro, as I usually try to sit while I fly.
No RC Pro has HDMI output if you have any devices that can take that. Alternatively you can pick up a stock controller for 60 bucks on eBay to fly with your tripletek or phone. Happy Flying 😎
Can you fly the mavic 2 pro or zoom with the RC Pro controller. Was going to get air 2s with the RC Pro fly more $1700 but have the spark , zoom so maybe the Tripltek would be better.
Great comparisons. One important to me view of using a this tablet is having to use Android. I’m a avid Apple user. I tried out the galaxy 8 when it was new, I could not get past how different the apps contrast each other on each platform. The Apple Maps on Dji’ s app look amazing, on android I feel like I stepped back in time. Just my opinion. I attached my ipad pro 12.9” its too big. Feels good in the hand, but i can not see everything that is going on the screen at once while flying. I smaller tablet like the new ipad mini is on my wish list.
I just got my Rc Pro controller and charged it. It stopped charging and I tapped the power to see the battery power and I'm getting max 3 green lights and it's turned off. Any idea why?
Hey Xavier, can you tell me if the charging brick from the Mavic 3 charge the Rc Pro controller? My local dealer wants to sell me a charger for the Rc Pro for $80 Australian dollars, my Mavic arrives next week via Australia post but I have to drive a fair way to pick up the Rc pro controller separately. Just wanted to know if I have to shell out $80 for the charger while I'm there or will the Mavic 3 charger do the job. 🍻🇦🇺 Andy B.
Any idea if the rc pro bundled with the air 2s will be unlockable to other drones down the road? When I chatted with b&h that offers the deal they mentioned it's tied to only the air 2s currently. If you buy the $1100 version I believe it is "unlocked" and will work with other drones it's compatible with but the bundled version is unable to or at least that's what I had heard currently.
I thought DJI was bundling the RC Pro with the Mavic 3 Flymore package early this year for a good discount and another purchasing option. Any idea when that will happen?
Wanted to ask u, I have already ordered an RC Pro and it’s on it’s way , but what I am curious about is , do I need to fly the RC Pro with it tethered to my phone’s data everytime I fly for getting the maps loaded onto the RC Pro? Would love to see a video on tht if it’s possible , thanks 🙏😊
@@xavier_arthur thanks so much for explaining this, I was always curious when I saw a random video on YT highlighting that it ddnt have maps, cheers mate 👍
The 8 Pro is a tablet after all so, it will depend on what app you use. From experience, 4K playback stutters. Their support stated it had something to do with the resolution. As a work around, you would need to download their suggested app or, film in 2.7K. The DJI app has a built in editor.
Today I updated my fly app. (to Version 1.5.10) I was very hopefull that the issue that the Tripltek 8pro will not write the Videos in the cache is eliminated. I tryed and, yipie, it stored the Video in the App in a lower resolution. I tried it the second time and it was gone again. It was not cached. Oh dear Tripltek engeneers what can I do? Perhaps my comment would give you a hint. I use a air 2s.
Just curious, can you connect the Tripltek 8 Pro to the IRC Pro, and turn off the IRC Pro screen? If I get the Mavic 3 Cine I get the IRC Pro included, but the battery life concerns me. Right now I'm still using the Mavic 2 Pro with the 2,000 nit large CrystalSky (with removable battery). It feels like such a gyp to have spent so much on that "universal" monitor and now it's no longer supported. 5.5" screens aren't enough for me.
DJI or someone should just build a simple 1600 nit display like DJI used too (crystal Sky) but at a decent price ..it would sell like hot cakes heck even hubsan used to sell simple display for there hs501 drones back in the day cheap
It’s a shame that a flag ship unit like this comes without preloaded maps like any other GPS navigation units these days. I don’t see a purpose of this if I still have to have a phone with me every time I fly.
I've had both SC and Tripltek 8 Pro. 8Pro; loved the bigger brighter screen. But, it is heavy and clunky to use, plus, you've got to get mounts for it, an extra expense. No HDMI out. Smart Controller, although slightly dimmer and smaller, it was lighter and had all the buttons I need, plus, it had HDMI out. Got rid of the SC because video broke up at the same distance where my previous DJI FPV drone, with Occusync 3, performed flawlessly. Decided to get the DJI dumb controller because, supposedly, it was backwards compatible with the A2S O3 technology. Same result as the SC, video broke up. I am now in the process of selling the dumb controller and getting an RC Pro. Hopefully, third time's the charm!
Nice review! But people should know, that Tripltek are liers! You mentioned, that resolution of Tripltek 8 display is 2.7K max. But it is only in theory. In real life it runs 1280x800 constantly. Display PPI is not more than 188 - so you get bright, but ugly hd picture. Hardware of Tripltek 8 is so weak that it can't run 4K videos - choppy playback. Benchmarks in any testing app are awful - 5 years old devices do better job. Sound is poor due to IP68. So unpleasant, that you will mute it forever. It is brick with good battery and bright display but it is impossible to use it like tablet due to low performance.
Tripletek 8 pro don't work correctly with the Air 2s. The Videos will not be stored on the Tablet. It's verry annoying. If you want to see them on the Tablet you must download them from the drone. This costs a lot of batterie. I do not understand this issue because Tripltek says it only happens with the Air 2s. If you watch the Video in 4k30 it will also studder all the time.
Much too long to say that the Tripltek is an excellent tablet, unbreakable, waterproof, is a phone with a SIM. THE DJI One is smaller and lighter. That's it.
Do you want DJI to make an 8" RC Pro?
RC Pro screen is 5.5" Vs Tripltek 8" Screen!
Yeah but it would cost $3000

True. Any good mechanic will tell you the right tool for the job is essential. Different jobs require different tools.
Great products, but I like the big screen in a compact body, so I'm looking forward to the Lenovo Legion Y700 8.8".
Brilliant review thank you. Would love the RC pro, but damn, that price is too high, and like you say, it can only be used with a couple of DJI drones
You got to use the dj printed holder for the stock remote to hold the tablet ..easy set up...stable...and ergonomic imo
I always fly with an iPhone 12. Does the tablet improvement worth it?
Looks like I HAVE TO use the sticks if I get the RC Pro. I was hoping I could continue to go "commando" like with the stock controller.

Very informative video... decisions.... decisions...which shall one choose?
Like you said no one knows you better than you 🙂
Getting both👍
Good presentation as always.
Great review! I just wish that Apple/iPad made a1200 nit tablet, then I'd be all set!
The iPad Pro 12.9 is 1600 nit. The iPhone 13 Pro is 1100 nit.
@@FangsCPO I am told that those are peak values, not sustainable for use in the field
@@novicefpv874 Why not?? Battery consumption?
@@FangsCPO no .. The guy said that the 1600 nit screen was a momentary value and that is normal screen brightness was about 500 nit. He told me I would be disappointed in it's performance for drone flying
Xavier, where did you get the felt bag for the RC PRO Controller?
No
RC Pro has HDMI output if you have any devices that can take that.
Alternatively you can pick up a stock controller for 60 bucks on eBay to fly with your tripletek or phone.
Happy Flying 😎
You can use the Tripltek with the RC PRO , you can see a video here ua-cam.com/video/zt4sWqbhtKg/v-deo.html
The charging brick isn't powerful enough maybe, try a bigger brick 🧱
@@xavier_arthur thanks! I used the mavic 3 and it charged it fully
💪💪💪
Hey Xavier, can you tell me if the charging brick from the Mavic 3 charge the Rc Pro controller?
My local dealer wants to sell me a charger for the Rc Pro for $80 Australian dollars, my Mavic arrives next week via Australia post but I have to drive a fair way to pick up the Rc pro controller separately.
Just wanted to know if I have to shell out $80 for the charger while I'm there or will the Mavic 3 charger do the job.
🍻🇦🇺 Andy B.
Yes it should charge the RC Pro 💪💪💪
Any idea if the rc pro bundled with the air 2s will be unlockable to other drones down the road? When I chatted with b&h that offers the deal they mentioned it's tied to only the air 2s currently. If you buy the $1100 version I believe it is "unlocked" and will work with other drones it's compatible with but the bundled version is unable to or at least that's what I had heard currently.
I thought DJI was bundling the RC Pro with the Mavic 3 Flymore package early this year for a good discount and another purchasing option. Any idea when that will happen?
It was recently posted that package has been cancelled. NO GO!!
Thanks man
Great video as always. I always carry readers with me because its hard to see the screen
Will the RCPro fit in the original air2s bag
YES 💪
@@xavier_arthur thanks I still cant make up my mind LOL
LoL 😆
Take your time 💪
Wanted to ask u, I have already ordered an RC Pro and it’s on it’s way , but what I am curious about is , do I need to fly the RC Pro with it tethered to my phone’s data everytime I fly for getting the maps loaded onto the RC Pro? Would love to see a video on tht if it’s possible , thanks 🙏😊
Tethering is only for the maps to load.
If you don't need fully loaded maps then you don't need to tether.
@@xavier_arthur so for the first flight it should have a map of where I am? And I don’t have to keep it on the phones data right? Thks
It will have a map but no details on the map, if you want the full satellite map with all the details, then you will need to tether to your phone!
Check out this video explaining it with the Mini, same principle with the RC Pro:

@@xavier_arthur thanks so much for explaining this, I was always curious when I saw a random video on YT highlighting that it ddnt have maps, cheers mate 👍
Thank You, JMo Spg Hill
I have never owned a table.. is the tripltek 8pro able to handle photo and video editing?
The 8 Pro is a tablet after all so, it will depend on what app you use.
From experience, 4K playback stutters.
Their support stated it had something to do with the resolution. As a work around, you would need to download their suggested app or, film in 2.7K.
The DJI app has a built in editor.
I take to admit it but the RC pro is the bomb and DJI knows it. Now I've got some range 😎
DJI doesn't have app in Google play.
Today I updated my fly app. (to Version 1.5.10)
I was very hopefull that the issue that the Tripltek 8pro will not write the Videos in the cache is eliminated. I tryed and, yipie, it stored the Video in the App in a lower resolution. I tried it the second time and it was gone again. It was not cached. Oh dear Tripltek engeneers what can I do? Perhaps my comment would give you a hint. I use a air 2s.
It is not a Tripltek issue, it is a DJI Fly APP issue, Tripltek can not do anything about it. DJI has to solve this bug with Android devices
You can only use the rc pro on a couple of drones there are plenty of better mounts so the tripltek wins hands down.
I found a similar type of tripletek for half the price and its the the same for as i like the rugged
Hey I love ❤️ and would rather have the Dji RC PRO instead of the TriplTek. Nah #RCPRO. Thanks 🙏 for sharing brother.
Best review on the net! Going to the Trip pro8, DJI lied said that smart remote would work with future drones, WRONG! RC Pro prob out of date already.
I want both
I have the the Tripltek 8 and it is great. I fly DJI and Autel drones and it is perfect, as a tablet it is fantastic.
@@lawrencecummings4426 How do you mount the TripItek to the Autel controller?
Good Bro
"It also feels more ergonomic in the hands" Even though the design of it is ergonomically incorrect.
Well you've changed your mind they must be paying you ☺️
Changed my mind on?
I hope mini 3 has rc pro combo
It’s a shame that a flag ship unit like this comes without preloaded maps like any other GPS navigation units these days.
I don’t see a purpose of this if I still have to have a phone with me every time I fly.
S O L D. thanks gud bud.
And the DJI cannot be used with Autel..
How can you possible compare a rc-n1 controller with limited function buttons, one wheel to a rc controlller…you can’t
That's it.
