How is a tetris movie even foing to work? Theres no story to base it on. Whats the movies premise? do you sit there for two hours watching blocks fall? Honestly id rather have a documentary on it and how it helped shape the game industry or something.
Bullet Proof Software had exclusive rights to Tetris in Japan, which is why there's a separate version for North America (which they also co-developed with Nintendo).
***** Although if you look into the history of Tetris, they first acquired their rights through Mirror Soft (or Spectrum Holobyte) and found out from the Elorg boss those rights were not legal so Henk Rogers had to pay upfront for those rights, and got Nintendo squared away with getting Tetris on the Game Boy.
Lord Karnage, the later BPS Famicom game "Tetris 2" is actually a much better game. It runs at 60 FPS, I believe, and the controls make a LOT more sense (in the one played here, IIRC, up and down rotates, and A or B drops). It's very disorienting to play this original Famicom Tetris. Also, even though it's called "Tetris 2", it has no gameplay connection to our "Tetris 2" although I believe it has a version of Tetris Blast on the cart as well, called "Bombliss."
I'm ok at Tetris and I have OCD about fitting the blocks together so I love it. I'm not good though I can't plan ahead worth a crap... I don't even bother looking as it would probably screw me. ;P
I like they allow you to change the music in this version. I am not sure if this one does it, but in the NES version if you do very well, you can launch a rocket into space. Not even joking about that. With how well I saw you play, I am guessing you never got to launch a rocket in Tetris before, haha.
So that someone can ask why he reuploads the same videos... or maybe he just felt like it... or something... sorry, I don't have a good answer for you there.
A movie about the invention and licensing of Tetris would be good because it was an interesting story in real life. I don't think that's what's happening though...
It's a pretty good version, but honestly I prefer the other two versions - the US/Euro Nintendo one, and most particularly the Atari (well, Tengen) version. There was also a very good version of Tetris for the Amiga, named Twintris. It was quite similar to the arcade version.
don't forget about tetris 2+bombliss (not to be confused with the US Tetris 2 which was called Tetris Flash in japan), probably the best one on Nintendo's 8 bit hardware
Weird feature of the Bullet-Proof Software versions from Japan, including the Famicom version. They're more like continues that allow you to start at the same level with your score intact instead of having to go all the way back to the beginning if you top out.
The controls on that version of Tetris is nothing like the GB version. This version has horrible controls, which is a real letdown because the game is otherwise a fantastic handheld to console port.
Your still one of the reasons I started my you tube and collecting and seeking sold few systems just this week getting hard to find stuff we Nintendo stuff I still will start making old school videos also as that was my plan to start with but I went in different direction for now but start maybe this week end I will make at least one video a weak from my collection I made few videos of games but not many but in plane to do one a week at lest take it easy in the El Camino of yours lol
It doesn't play like Tetris AT ALL! For turning the pieces you have to press UP. Pressing Down does nothing. Your have to wait for the piece to go down. Yes, it's BAD. And I love Tetris!
I bet you didn't know that even though this was an official Nintendo release, this is an illegal version of Tetris. Watch the Gaming Historian's video on Tetris to find out why
It was (unintentionally) illegal until BPS head Henk Rogers helped Nintendo swing the exclusive worldwide console rights. They then allowed it to continue as the Famicom version while Nintendo themselves published the NES version in North America. This isn't the Tengen version which was pulled from North American shelves.
1:02 Aw come on! In outer space and in the world I am THE worst tetris player! not mark! 1:23 Ok maybe you are the world's and space's worst tetris player
This is the worst version of Tetris for the NES/Famicom. Looks and sounds OK but boy, they sure f*cked up the controls for this one. That makes it unplayable. Tengen Tetris is the best. NES version plays well but doesn't have the Tetris russian music and has a limit so f*ck it as well.
Huge shout out for playing MINISTRY! Also, never knew JPN Tetris was different. Awesome.
Tetris was a phenomenon of a game, forever will it live and be played by countless people.
I'm not sure if many got the ministry reference but I LOL when the stock music started playing.
Mark is the most awesome game reviewer ever!
looks like tetris but plays like top gun... that thought terrifies me... can you imagine having to guide pieces in like the carrier landings?
I still can't believe that they're making a Tetris movie. I hope it won't be as bad as Battleship.
How is a tetris movie even foing to work? Theres no story to base it on. Whats the movies premise? do you sit there for two hours watching blocks fall? Honestly id rather have a documentary on it and how it helped shape the game industry or something.
Darkrai110 *going
Is that some sort of sick joke? Nothing compares to the atrocity that is Battleship: The Movie
Its going to be a blockbuster hur hur
SparklyHyena hurr hurr zurr oi be a gurtly ol bowl
Tetris(with the r backward) from tengen (1988 arcade and 1989 NES) was the best version you could get back then!
I'd disagree if he's doing famicom which he obviously is, Tetris 2+bombliss is better still. Unless you mean in 88
I thought there was only two versions: the Tengen version and the Nintendo version. Had no idea there was a third one.
Oh hey, I just saw you on The Daily Byte comment section. I guess you have a good taste in you tube channels as well, lol
Bullet Proof Software had exclusive rights to Tetris in Japan, which is why there's a separate version for North America (which they also co-developed with Nintendo).
tengen version was the best, the others should be forgotten :P
***** Although if you look into the history of Tetris, they first acquired their rights through Mirror Soft (or Spectrum Holobyte) and found out from the Elorg boss those rights were not legal so Henk Rogers had to pay upfront for those rights, and got Nintendo squared away with getting Tetris on the Game Boy.
Christopher Sobieniak Thank for the history lesson! ☺
I love VIDEO GAMES!
I still play Game Boy Tetris. :3

Nice Psalm69 vinyl, Mark
You know that the original name of the main theme of Tetris is "Песня Коробейников"? I just want to say that
One word for you mark, Vectris! I think you would enjoy that more.
Ah the dulcet tones of Uncle Al and Ministry go great with Tetris.
Jesus Built My Tetris
so funny, was just listening to Ministry today.....!!D
That's how Ministry sounds to me too.
1:08 Is he implying that his suckiness at Tetris transcends space and time?
Hell yeah. Ministry.
What's with lining up all of the blocks?
Yes Ministry and Tetris = EPIC!
Wasn't this already uploaded?
I love tetris. I've beaten it both on Nintendo and gameboy. I still have my original gameboy and tetris lol
i need that opening music
love tetris i have over 80 hours on my brothers 3ds on the old gameboy one from 91
I'm ok at Tetris and I have OCD about fitting the blocks together so I love it.
I'm not good though I can't plan ahead worth a crap... I don't even bother looking as it would probably screw me. ;P

i see you have a decent needle on your turntable, nice job
Psalm 69 ftw! Good call!!
Psalm 69 on vinyl!
Imagine if they made a movie about this...
I think they did in 2023
Why does he sometimes reupload the same videos?
So that someone can ask why he reuploads the same videos... or maybe he just felt like it... or something... sorry, I don't have a good answer for you there.
Wanna feel real bad about your Tetris prowess? Go to the search bar and type in "speed tetris".
2:42 man if I heard "somthing went right...kind of" from space I'd be worried.
Ministry! \o/
I think you can play the music as long as you review it.
A movie about the invention and licensing of Tetris would be good because it was an interesting story in real life. I don't think that's what's happening though...
There's been a couple of documentaries, including one from the BBC. It's a fascinating story.
Under 301! yes!
It's a pretty good version, but honestly I prefer the other two versions - the US/Euro Nintendo one, and most particularly the Atari (well, Tengen) version.

There's going to be a movie, a big budget, and I quote, "Sci-Fi epic"... why?
Do you want them to make something based off an original property? Are you mad? They're just scraping the bottom of the barrel basically.
I look forward to TETRIS the Moive the Game.
This game is 34 years old today! Wow... I'm old.
Music type C rules!
Of all the nes/famicom tetris versions you had to pick the single least approachable to beginners of them all right there.
4:34 Since when did Tetris have a life counter?
Weird feature of the Bullet-Proof Software versions from Japan, including the Famicom version. They're more like continues that allow you to start at the same level with your score intact instead of having to go all the way back to the beginning if you top out.
LINE PIECE! LINE PIECE! LIIINE PIECE! LIIINE PIIIECE!
Are you playing a Famicom game on a North American nes top loader?
A glitch on the matrix!
Psalm 69!!
Line piece....Line Piece....LINE PIECE....LINE PIEEEECE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deja vu.
Psalm 69! What an amazing album! And on vinyl, too!
It's painful to watch someone play Tetris badly. I can't help but yell, "Put it there! Put it there!!!"
thats what she said :P
To be fair this version of Tetris I employs the most asinine controls ever for a tetris game.
You should give Ministry credit in the description for that track sir!
im so good at tetris. i used to play online on the ds version via wifi
The controls on that version of Tetris is nothing like the GB version. This version has horrible controls, which is a real letdown because the game is otherwise a fantastic handheld to console port.
How can you mess up Tetris Controls!??
They managed it. By god, they managed it.
down is rotate a is hard drop no soft drop
Your still one of the reasons I started my you tube and collecting and seeking sold few systems just this week getting hard to find stuff we Nintendo stuff

If he does a review of tetris on the av famicom, then why not also review the av famicom, (unless he alreadi dit or gonne do it)some day.
Hi. Thanks to Joseph Saelee. I'm trying Tetris again.
God bless, Proverbs 31
I bet Uncle Al wouldn't mind you playing that awesome record.
Tetris is okay, but I like Pac-Attack, Puyo Puyo, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche.
I feel so cheated on my Ministry... :: Goes to listen to Jesus Built My Hot Rod ::
Reminds me of the Atgames re-release...
Yep both great taste played sold it really sold it played it lol
It doesn't play like Tetris AT ALL!
For turning the pieces you have to press UP. Pressing Down does nothing. Your have to wait for the piece to go down.
Yes, it's BAD. And I love Tetris!
Is tetris strategy really complicated? Like is there a program that can beat any human in tetris?
I think Jennifer Love Hewitt is hot.
Welcome to the under 301 views club. How tough are ya.
I ate cereal with spoiled milk.
(No seriously, that actually happened to me once.Unlucky me.)
I managed to NOT pop a single bubble on the bubble wrap of my package. Greatest challenge of my life so far.
THOSANDJosh LOL I do the same thing.Like always.
No gives a shit
I watched A Serbian Film, and I only threw up five times.....
I can't believe I just watched a review of Tetris.
derp..
Yeah because stock Classical music is "similar" to songs like "Jesus Built My Hotrod", "N.W.O.", and "Just One Fix", lol.
I bet you didn't know that even though this was an official Nintendo release, this is an illegal version of Tetris. Watch the Gaming Historian's video on Tetris to find out why

360p!!!!!
"I am terrible at Tetris. So I'm going to start out on the highest difficulty. OH I LOST!!!" Um, DUUUUUH!!!
I had a better game of Tetris. once I got all "I" blocks, except for 2 "z"s and one "o".
Second
Woo first comment!
1:02 Aw come on! In outer space and in the world I am THE worst tetris player! not mark!
1:23 Ok maybe you are the world's and space's worst tetris player
I love Tetris so much that it's in my username.
Can scoring more points also make you a genderqueerer genderqueer person?
All things considered, this is really an unappealing version of the game.
Ministry is so fucking good, especially that album haha
