Today is first anniversary of my husband’s death and almost 3 weeks post op for a laminectomy. Sadness and pain (emotional and physical) are great partners. I’ve practiced many breath techniques and this one is one of the best. Thank you for this and a thanks for helping me get through surgery without my husband’s support.
Nice! Awesome! I donated to the anesthesiologist foundation again Thursday, I really enjoy donating to the anesthesiologist foundation, since it was hard for me to go to college because of my cerebral palsy, I really wanted to be a anesthesiologist
Damn that was awesome... I was so frustrated because my weed eater wouldn't work and I felt like my day had been wasted ... And when I came inside and looked at my phone this video popped up almost as it was a sign... So I watched it and now I feel amazing... I could feel my entire body relax and mood soften
I had anesthesia for an endoscopy last week. I've had many and none stand out but I distinctly remember this last one because you always talk about being calm before anesthesia. as the anesthesiologist got ready to push the meds, my doc positioned me for the procedure and I focused on conjuring a meditative state. while doing this, I realized that doc was holding my hand so I focused on that while my hand burned from the propofol. the docs were gently telling me to go to sleep and I felt so safe in that moment. when I woke up, I felt totally calm and was able to deal with the less than ideal test results. I spent last winter homeless so that feeling of safety is something that sort of goes away after you have to nap on concrete. I really appreciate you for helping me learn to fully appreciate such a lovely experience.
@@MedicalSecrets I'm still waiting on the biopsy results. hopefully everything is benign but if it isn't, I trust my docs to help me through. I told myself that if I could find peace when I was shaking in the cold while wrapped in survival blankets with my dog waiting for the homeless shelter to open, I can find it anywhere. I have my own little studio apartment now and I'm so happy. ❤️
Thank you, Dr. Kaveh- for your continued stellar content. Your breathing exercise in this video helped immensely. I experienced utter joy and a sense of balance. I currently feel small and insignificant 💛✌🏼
Refreshing from a medical provider, unfortunately it feels medical providers are pushed to an uncomfortable limit and if you need a moment for yourself then "too bad". We need more of this. We need more of this in medicine, especially, for patients AND providers. Love love love this.
Doc, I love the fact that you brought meditation into it! Thank you for introducing it here to people who may not have any other avenue of getting this info. I have regular procedures under sedation every few months (due to multiple chronic pain conditions) and I have used meditation both before procedures as well as daily and can attest to its wonderful effects…on just about everything. There are many forms of meditation, some more effective than others but any form is better than none 😊 Anyway keep up your wonderful work and thank again 🙏
I feel like you’re also on a journey with us. I feel like we’ve all been gaslit in ways we never thought were possible in our society but there’s been a change. Thank you for being there for us and hopefully we can help you as well❤
I was just reading about microtubules and quantum entanglement and how to fix the wave collapse problem 😂 I'm just a simpleton with big interests, but my nerve cells have been overstimulated, and i needed this. I've been wanting you to make some videos like this. You have a peaceful voice, and even though i don't know you, you feel pretty trustworthy to me, and that's something i struggle with. So this is nice, thank you ❤
Love this video ❤. Really helps me with all the anxiety, trauma I’ve been through. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! 3 weeks ago, I had a stroke, my right eyelid was shut when I woke up
I’m so very grateful to you for teaching me such an easy and effective way to allow myself to feel at one with the woman I truly am. Your kindness and well wishes are truly appreciated and I hope and pray that you receive every blessing to continue on your healing journey. May God Bless you and your family
Thank you Dr Kaveh!! Love this and will remember when I next need surgery. Many hugs and prayers to all going through health issues as well as the amazing doctors like you, Dr Kaveh, who keep an eye on us through the journey. Love this! Please do more!!😁💕🙌🏻🙏
I am going to try this for sleep because I am so tired of taking over the counter sleeping pills every night. I know they aren't good for prolonged use and I'm afraid if I don't take them that I won't fall asleep, and just lie there counting the minutes. Thank you so much!
Dr. Kaveh your voice is soothing I feel I could sleep from just hearing it 😂no need for sleep medication ❤ definitely will use this tonight for my bedtime 🫶🏻
Having surgery tomorrow for a port replacement. A pretty minor surgery, but Have had HORRIBLE previous anesthesia experiences, including being intubated while still awake but was unable to tell anyone. Even worse….im a nurse so I knew exactly what the sequence of events was, and what drugs were being used. I can remember the conversation in the room, etc. then I had horrible pain control when I woke up. Hoping for smoother sailing tomorrow morning at least. 😬🤞
Dr I’ve been enjoying your videos for over a year and you’ve helped me get through many difficult diagnoses. But this video has helped me relax enough that my mind actually stopped running. It was like I flipped a switch and it was quiet. This has never happened before. My anti seizure medication Kappra was increase 3 days ago. But I don’t think that will start to work so soon so I’m chalking this calm state to you and your video. Am I right in thinking my increase in Keppra wouldn’t work that quickly? Thank you for all your help. 💝🥰
I do this breathing with my patients prior to induction. Most of my anesthetists like it. It drives one of the crazy! I tell my patients to breathe in like they’re sniffing flowers and to blow out like they’re blowing out birthday candles. Because we do this at induction, they are more likely to remember to do it when prompted at emergence.
I always think of surgery as a nap. I lay down and close eyes and wish the doc would just let me sleep rather then telling me what’s going to happen but they kinda have to.
@@jzz1019 what the doctor stop talking? Or Going right to sleep? I don’t really remember getting the meds or the doctor stopping talking. I like sleep so I try to think it’s just a normal nap.💤 it’s less stressful
Have you done a video on the effects of anesthesia on heart? If you have pulmonary valve deficiency, how does it effect the heart? Is the time under anesthesia the problem, or something else?
Many many thanks for your compassionate care in all you do to bring healing . Much appreciated , our world needs Healthcare professionals like you. Mary.
Great video as always! I have an off-topic question regarding SGB treatment. From a biochemical standpoint, mechanistically and theoretically, blocking the stellate ganglion can provide a significant window for neuroplasticity to occur, which can, for example, significantly reduce PTSD symptoms. My question is, could this same neuroplasticity window mechanistically benefit other mental health conditions like OCD? I have a relative who suffers from OCD, and I would like to hear your opinion.
That's a great question. It has not been studied sufficiently to know for sure. However, on first principles, it is a reasonable theoretical basis to investigate.
After the anti addictive mechanism gets heavily weakened and the person also gets depression and all problems of chronic fatigue Is there any possibility that the person can become intellectual again and become good at not only his/her studies but their emotions as well ? (Without the use of any help medication) Even after his prefrontal cortex was heavily weakened?
Yippee! Surgery tomorrow, Thurs., then another on Friday. I love sedation! Will think of your sweet, calm demeanor, doc. Good night, sweetheart, well it's time to go, bu buhm buh buhm.... I can't wait for that great escape. Okay, so I gave away my age with that song.
Nothing in the least scares me about surgery, except the small chance of surgical awareness. My fear ( terror) is the immediate post op pain and more precisely whether it will be adequately controlled especially in the aftermath of the so called opioid/ opiate crisis. Stay well all
Refocus on stomach breathing, long slow deep breaths, the tongue will follow naturally. Stop focusing on the tongue. I use clenching the toes, then relax them ,do it up tje legs while continuing long slow deep breaths, its the oxygen that helps the body relax.
He did the classy version of f’d and didn’t say the whole word so maybe it’s ok when you censor yourself 😂 he seems such a nice guy, if he doesn’t let his real personality through then he wouldn’t seem so authentic so he needs to be both true to himself and relatable
