    Great review. I've mentioned before that here in California they are trying to force us to go to all battery lawn equipment and these reviews are an awesome resource for the new equipment. Thank you

      Thanks for watching! Battery equipment has come a long way over the past few years, I am using more and more battery power for everyday use than ever before, and I enjoy it more because you don’t have nearly the noise.

    Is the battery still holding up since you got it a couple years ago? Any issues or complaints with the battery trimmer?

    • @WilliamsonRidge
      @WilliamsonRidge  Місяць тому

      No complaints, it’s still doing good, I haven’t got to test a bunch of battery trimmers, but out of the ones that I have, I like this one the best

    @williamson ridge outdoors I looked at this 2600 model and the model just below, the 2100. What I am really looking for is a throttle that you can TRULY feather like a gas trimmer. What I found was the the cheaper 2100 I could get a very slow rotation on and then bring it up to speed. With this flagship 2600 model, you start squeezing and boom it starts rotating at some minimum speed which isn’t super slow. I know this is a small thing, but when I flip it over to edge around the oak trees, I don’t want to damage the roots. So on my gas powered echo, I simply feather, the throttle to spin the head fast enough to cut the grass and that’s it. same thing for edging along gravel. I want to rotate it super slow so that I’m not having gravel shoot all over the place. I would just get the lower priced 2100, but the shaft is a few inches shorter, which feels weird.
    Can you offer any feedback on the ability to feather the throttle. Do you experience the same thing that I did when I tried it out in the store. Excellent review by the way super helpful.

      The trigger is variable speed but it has a minimum speed that may not be slow enough for your needs, it’s not variable from zero to 100 it’s more like starts at 20 and goes to 100, it’s been slow enough for me going around chain link fences, if I need slower I’m kinda just on and off kinda bump it for delicate places, it can be used in those areas but it is a bit of hassle to have to work the trigger on an off

    The problem with rapid charging, it cuts the light for your battery. If you do it all the time it’ll cut it in half a third touchdown, grace and peace.

    There were 2 versions of the 58v String trimmers, the first generation actually has the motor in the back like this one.

  • @tsant6591
    @tsant6591 Рік тому +2

    Great review. Was there a noticeable difference in the weight? Easier on the back for us old and worn out geezers?

    • @WilliamsonRidge
      @WilliamsonRidge  Рік тому +2

      Not much between the old 58 and new 56 the weight ballance is the big difference, the old 58 has the motor mounted at the trimmer head making it nose heavy the 56v has it all at the back making the front very light and maneuverable, the 56v battery weighs right at the same weight as the gas version srm225 at just under 12lbs.

    I hate mine! Seriously, I can only get 4 yards done here in Virginia before the battery runs out. Not lying and not trolling. The few positives are that it’s light and it does cut well, but the shitty battery life angers me.

    • @sirjustis
      @sirjustis 2 роки тому +1

      If you have thick grass, the battery is used up more. If you have excess line, the battery will run out more. If you have a lot of edging or additional resistance type stuff, it will draw more current. Please be aware of these factors. Finally, the battery housing is not that easy to pop in and out either. It takes two hands to pop it out.

      Mine was tuff to get out too, I put a little dielectric grease on the connectors slides like butter now

    Thats how they make the money, they know people will buy it. I still use the 4 cycle gas whacker with the forester chain saw blade. You can't use the battery with the blade. good video.

    Thanks for the review. I am curious if you noticed any drive shaft vibration or resonance in the DSRM-2600 from it having the rear mounted motor?
    I was actually happy when they switched over to the direct drive (trimmer head side) motor in the previous generation as opposed to the PAS version because to seem to really cut back on NVH.

    • @WilliamsonRidge
      @WilliamsonRidge  2 роки тому +3

      I have both versions and I haven’t noticed much if any shaft vibration over the old, the old seems like it has just a bit more power but I like the smooth operation, ballance, and runtime over the old.

      I’ve actually never ran it the whole time on the low setting, seems like I always need that little bit of extra power and speed, it is the 5.0ah battery

    Interesting they have a 2100 PAS compatible or the regular 2100 but not the X series 2600 PAS compatible.
    nice review!

      Thanks! They make the DPAS-2600 in the X-series but I can only find it with the 2.5AH battery and it costs $20 more than the DSRM-2600.

    We have one at my landscaping company and it works good and very convenient but only lasts about 30 minutes depending on how tough the grass is. I like to use it for jobs that don’t take long but I prefer a stihl 111 or 91 for everything else

    The standard charger is better on the battery. Yes it does take longer to charge but a lower amp charge is better for the battery.

    Terrific review buddy. You’ve gained a new subscriber. Interested in slowly making the switch to battery powered equipment. I’m also curious - what kind of warranty does this machine come with? Echo usually offers pretty good warranties but where I’m not used to battery powered equipment and since us commercial lawn and landscapers are hard on our equipment, warranties are a bid deal.

    • @WilliamsonRidge
      @WilliamsonRidge  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I can’t remember for sure but I believe Echo does a 5 year residential and 2 or 3 year commercial warranty.
