Medieval Knights Fighting at 2024 Central Coast Renaissance Festival in San Luis Obispo - All Rounds

- Knights fight in duels and melee at the 38th annual Central Coast Renaissance festival at Laguna Lake Park on July 20-21st 2024.
Fighters are allowed to camp on site for free.
We started with 20 fighters and by the 2nd day 3p time block, we were down to 14.
Fighting both Saturday and Sunday at 12 noon and 3p. We had a 1 hour time block to fill by running a mixture of duels and melee. Our schedule looked like the below:
Starting at 12noon
-Fight for 15-20 minutes
-Wack a Knight 10 minutes
-Fight for 15-20 minutes
-Pictures with crowd
Knights use a mixture of weapons including swords, shields, maces, poleaxe, 1h axe, 2h longaxe, 2h longsword, bucklers, punch shield, Polearm, halberd and more. Knights are wearing real steel armor that is hardened. The weapons are blunted at 2mm. Nothing is choreographed.
These fights were a mixture of 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, and 6v6 melee rounds. Instead of a wood lyst to fight in there are hay bales, which play a major wild card.
Friends and memories were made this weekend, and we look forward to hanging out with everyone again soon.

This year a new guild was started with the sole intention to highlight and support the knight fighting during the SLO Ren Faire. We had a large shaded tent with a table of buffet food for the fighters. There were cold drinks, cold head cloths and live music. I have a lot of footage of just the hanging out and behind the scenes but this video was obviously long enough. Good times! Hope to see you there next year!
Thank you to those that dedicated your time towards helping us as part of the support team. Thank you to the marshals and event organizers for keeping us safe and making it an an enjoyable event. We see more knights attend every time which makes each year bigger and better than before.

You can tell immediately who has educated technique and armor matching his profile. That one guy had full range of motion and balance at all times. That's hard to beat.
As someone obsessed with history and martial arts, this is wonderful to see. Super happy I got to see it in real life as well.
