I am about sick of this whole "Modern Audience" nonsense. Any game, movie, or adaptation that talks about inclusivity of a modern audience in whatever form of media will not see a single cent from me.
What annoys me about it all, is games used to be for gamers. I started in the 80s with a zx Spectrum. Then C64 then Amiga then Pc. The games were just games and the people involved loved computers and made games for other computer lovers to play and enjoy. And that was it. Since gaming went more mainstream and became a big business its got like Football. Too many people who know nothing about it and dont care about it other than the cash have too much to say. And they have no clue. That is modern gaming to a T.
Baldur’s Gate 3 also has the non-binary option. Guess what? Still the best game of this year; winning multiple categories voted by gamers, won the best game of the year award, critically praised by majority, and no transaction. It’s a fucking RPG, players can choose whoever they want. Cyberpunk 2077, disaster of a launch but is well-liked now with all the bug patches, updates and that Phantom Liberty expansion, has voice option that effects pronouns and genital options. Guess what? Majority don’t give a fuck, it’s all superficial. Woke stuff only becomes problem when it affects the gameplay and story, and attacking the vast fanbase. Take that away, this divisive political wars means nothing to casual who just like a good game. It’s not about the pronouns, Starfield was just unfortunately a shitty game, to which I wholeheartedly agreed. Baby face is just lucky that his rage was on this piece of boring crap, most people don’t give a shit if they have choose a pronouns in customisation menu. It’s either a good game or not, not this gobbledy gook. BG3 proves that, so no excuse dorks, nice try on meaning less superficial stuff. And this coming from an anti-Hollywood person. baldurs gate 3 is filled to the brim with stuff like that and then some. However people are not really moaning about it because it was an actualy good game. I don't think the pronouns are what's wrong with starfield, i would mod them out like i did with bg3 and not even think about them, but having developers waste time on that instead of making a fun product first is the reason starfield was doa.

I got my refund after about the same amount of time. I got to the first "boss" fight and the AI was so bad I turned it off shortly after the battle started because all the enemies were just running into/against terrain firing in my general direction. If I wanted something that bad I could have made it by myself using Chat GPT.

The best thing about Starfield was indeed the creation of "The SilverBack". What a unironically awesome nickname, the more I say it the better it sounds. Much better than anything the game could offer.

Between this and cyberpunk, this one is probably the most disappointing for me, I really thought this game was going to live up to the hype the were putting out, I'd rather Play star citizen any day over this.
I'm glad I never paid any money for it, I sailed the high seas and then uninstalled it after 3 hours of playing. This is why we need to bring back demos.

Like Rare back in the day, I think Microsoft’s issue is that they are looking for the studio still in its prime they buy them when they are on the verge of failure and buying them up isn’t really saving them. Blizzard got me with Diablo 4 because I bought it when I was really tired one night, realized it following day without any playtime...so I was like ok i'll give a shot. Wanted a refund after an hour playtime, nope. They have a zero refund policy no exceptions. I forgot they aren't steam (and i still feel stupid about it). I mean it's OK that game is pretty boring but it is still better than wokefield (which isn't saying much). Biggest insult thought was seeing it out on steam at a discounted price when they never released their games to steam before. They're on my banned list of buying games until i thoroughly explore them first, no more spot purchase Blizzard games ever. Bethesda is on the list now too because of Wokefield.

I liked the ship customization stuff. I did stop after finding out an npc was a female, but also the clone of a dude ,and my space .44 magnum that i shot her in the head with did nothing. So i uninstalled the game and moved on.

Fallout 76 taught us that Bethy isn't a golden goose, has a customer relations problem, and feels shameless about lying and greed. It was painful watching those lessons be forgotten as a lot of ppl wanted to give Starfield the benefit of the doubt and jumped on the hype train with no caution. I'll be groaning as it happens all over again for Elder Scrolls 6.
Instead of suffering through Starfield, I got Cyberpunk on Sale and pumped 120 h into that. Can recommend if your open world-itch needs to be scratched.

Constant crashing and screen freezing is there recipe. I've been playing some Eurojank games recently, combat mechanic is horrible but stories not bad and no bugs, no crashing and no freezing. Way more enjoyable.

I lost myself in Morrowind for hundreds of hours in high school. It was a mind-blowing experience. Still play it all the time. Starfield… no interest whatsoever. It’s an insulting effort.
Morrowind was really something else when it came out in 2002. Starfailed is an ok loadscreen simulator but feels slightly less immersive than Morrowind for sure 😅
The most tragic part of all this is that Bethesda had the potential to add races a la Elder Scrolls. But instead, they added "Modern Diversity' instead. And the industry wonders why Palworld is popular as fuck. (lol)

I was in the middle of bg3 when Starfield came out. I quit Starfield and refunded it after 2 hours because it was clearly shallow garbage and went back to bg3.
Same here it aged like Milk. The more you play the game the less you start to like it and notice its major flaws. Its the first game Bethesda game i uninstalled from my computer without intention to play it again anytime soon somehow i got more enjoyment out of Fallout 76 which was also garbage more than this game.
I can't believe that one single man, I can't think of his name, but he took down Bethesda & Starfield all by himself. He made a very impassioned monologue, some called it a "rant", on how wasting time focusing on stupid things like pronouns and other current day supposedly buzzworthy topics instead of creating exciting and fulfilling story and gameplay like they had done in the past was going to cause the game to fail. I really hope he's feeling vindicated for all the attacks he got from that because he was absolutely RIGHT on all points.
The only concern now is that Bethesda might want to go back and remaster Skyrim, "fixing" the old "problematic" stories, and characters with trans characters, and force every NPC to have pronouns.

@mgshock 100% agree, I owned every playstation system up to ps4 then opted out of the ps5 due to how hard it was to obtain one at the time. The money was better spent upgrading my PC and I've never looked back.

It's only been 5 months since Starfield release? It feels like ages ago, and ages since I even looked at it.
That's because the game was very dated and a huge step backwards by the time it released so indeed. Feels like it's been years already.
Between this and cyberpunk, this one is probably the most disappointing for me, I really thought this game was going to live up to the hype the were putting out, I'd rather Play star citizen any day over this.

Blizzard got me with Diablo 4 because I bought it when I was really tired one night, realized it following day without any playtime...so I was like ok i'll give a shot. Wanted a refund after an hour playtime, nope. They have a zero refund policy no exceptions. I forgot they aren't steam (and i still feel stupid about it). I mean it's OK that game is pretty boring but it is still better than wokefield (which isn't saying much). Biggest insult thought was seeing it out on steam at a discounted price when they never released their games to steam before. They're on my banned list of buying games until i thoroughly explore them first, no more spot purchase Blizzard games ever. Bethesda is on the list now too because of Wokefield.

I liked the ship customization stuff. I did stop after finding out an npc was a female, but also the clone of a dude ,and my space .44 magnum that i shot her in the head with did nothing. So i uninstalled the game and moved on.

Starfield was boring because Bethesda gutted out all the things that make a fallout or elder scrolls fun. The exploration. Being able to strike out in any direction and find something interesting to do. All of that was removed from SF.

Fallout 76 taught us that Bethy isn't a golden goose, has a customer relations problem, and feels shameless about lying and greed. It was painful watching those lessons be forgotten as a lot of ppl wanted to give Starfield the benefit of the doubt and jumped on the hype train with no caution.

Instead of suffering through Starfield, I got Cyberpunk on Sale and pumped 120 h into that. Can recommend if your open world-itch needs to be scratched.

Constant crashing and screen freezing is there recipe. I've been playing some Eurojank games recently, combat mechanic is horrible but stories not bad and no bugs, no crashing and no freezing. Way more enjoyable.

I played it for around 8 hours and have to say that I wish I had stopped at 20 mins.

I lost myself in Morrowind for hundreds of hours in high school. It was a mind-blowing experience. Still play it all the time. Starfield… no interest whatsoever. It’s an insulting effort.
Morrowind was really something else when it came out in 2002.

I was in the middle of bg3 when Starfield came out. I quit Starfield and refunded it after 2 hours because it was clearly shallow garbage and went back to bg3.
Same here it aged like Milk. The more you play the game the less you start to like it and notice its major flaws. Its the first game Bethesda game i uninstalled from my computer without intention to play it again anytime soon somehow i got more enjoyment out of Fallout 76 which was also garbage more than this game.
I can't believe that one single man, I can't think of his name, but he took down Bethesda & Starfield all by himself. I got a refund after watching Az's stream before I even heard the rant. It just looked empty. This game should have been a layup. All they had to do was build a Fallout/mass effect style world and copy paste the space travel mechanics from Elite Dangerous. Why build a game around spacecrafts, then not allow the player to actually pilot them?? Sorry Todd, the modders won't be bailing you out on this one.
