I was just looking at getting this system! :) The dual channel receiver is the only remnant from the previous gen of Sony's wireless audio, it was helpful to hear yours didn't want to connect, I'll call Sony support before I buy to make sure they can work together.
I was told when I was hiring out the kit that they should work together, you just need to manually input the frequency instead of using the auto sync and pairing function. But when I tried to do that, the frequency ranges were different, as listed in the video. I'm not an audio expert, so if you find a way around it please let me know! 😀
Really handy video, thanks! Have you tried the Rode Wireless Go II? You get two transmitters and one receiver that are supposed to record separately to the left and right channel. Problem is I can only seem to get a linked stereo recording in the FX6...
Yes, you can sync channel 1 to the lav transmitter and channel 2 with the handheld microphone. I use the Sony handheld microphone which has it's own transmitter built in.
Thanks for the video. With the new D27 Reciver, Can you monitor the levels of each of the transmitters separately? Hot Shoe one and two in the FX6 Audio Controls are for Transmiter one and two?
Thanks for the great vids on the FX6. Have you now purchased the compatible transmitter unit that plugs into an XLR mic? I'm using this set up with a Senheiser 416 shotgun but I'm getting an slight audio hiss. I'm curious what setting you might recommend to get rid of this.
I now have this audio receiver but not the compatible xlr unit. I do have the older xlr version though and there is a slight hiss in the recording compared to using a direct xlr cable. In think that is just one of the compromises of using wireless!
Thanks for watching! Currently I am using the RX at 0db Output and then setting the CH1 on the FX6 to I believe 6-7. Then I have the TX set to: Attenuator 12db Gain Mode: Normal RF Power is set to HIGH as well. You might need to Google how to set RF Power to High, there's a trick to getting to that setting and I didn't do it to my TX, someone else fortunately found it and changed it for me. I also have the RX set to be powered by the MI Shoe, which saves me having to worry about battery. I found when the Attenuator wasn't set to 12db, I could get a bit of distortion in the audio recording, even though the levels didn't say it was peaking. Hope that helps.
@@YourStoryStudios thanks for the response! Just discovered that in order to change RF power you need to hold down power and set while turning on the unit. Then power off and on again to save the setting.
Whats your take on the new Sony URX-P41D? Not worth the upgrade for you? I am struggling with my different wireless system from Røde and Shure. They are great but a source of worry and complexity.
@@YourStoryStudios I received my UWP-D27/K33 with the SMAD-P5 adapter a couple of days ago. I have yet to take it out for a real spin but my quick tests on both the A7s3 and FX6 using the adapter turned out really good. I’d say just switching from analogue to digital through the shoe improved that noice floor. However, I just did a quick test. Looking forward to see your take on it. 🙂👍✨
Hi I have the URX-P03D receiver with the SMAD-P3D MI shoe mount adaptor into a Sony A7IV. The sound quality is great BUT the receiver audio cuts out after around a minute each time I start recording. Help! Help! Help!
Sorry to hear that! That hasn’t happened to me. I’ve ordered this item and will be getting it at the end of November, so if I get the same problem and find the solution I’ll make a video on it 😉
I believe so, but then that will limit your flexibility in editing. EG: Removing someone breathing heavily into the microphone when the other person is talking.

Man i was eyeballing exactly sony urx p03d system for interview sets! I’m looking forward to see your hands on experience!!
Shoot is coming up today so hopefully I'll be able to put together a video showing some examples and my overall thoughts! Thanks for watching 😀
Very useful video. I don't shoot Q&A very often, so I still use Sennheiser's AVX microphone system. I might switch in the future.

I haven’t used the wireless go 2 but have heard of it. I like you can record internally 32-bit float but haven’t been able to test it.
I have this same issue funnily enough and was looking for a solution. Any luck?
I'm having same issue
Thanks for the video - is it possible to set audio from MI shoe 1 to tracks 1 & 2 on the FX6, or do you have to set it to tracks 1 & 3?
You have to set it to 1 and 3. A small gotcha but easy enough to work around.
Thank you for the video.
How do you connect the Lav and handheld to work together? is that possible?
Yes, you can sync channel 1 to the lav transmitter and channel 2 with the handheld microphone. I use the Sony handheld microphone which has it's own transmitter built in.
@@YourStoryStudios thank you! I would appreciate you have a link to instructions or video tutorial.

Yes that is correct!

I’ve got one on pre-order and I’m hoping it will give me a lower noise floor. Will make a video once I’ve had a play with it!

Not sure why that would be happening sorry!
Hey man nice video! When I connected mine to my FX6 I received this error:
" Unsupported MI Shoe device"
Have you experienced anything like that?

Can’t you change the band and sync up your old transmitter
Not from what I could tell but I could be wrong. The frequencies didn’t over lap to sync up.
Can you just record two lavs as one channel so I can use the other three channels for 2 shotguns and the internal mic on the handle?
I believe so, but then that will limit your flexibility in editing. EG: Removing someone breathing heavily into the microphone when the other person is talking.
I see something new came up from Sony.. can’t you help us understand the comparisons
I saw that too! Looking forward to getting my hands on the new unit to see if it improves the noise floor.
