Can’t wait for the new merch to drop. As far as the Harley build goes, I’m here for anything that you find worthy of doing. You’ve proven yourself 100 times over with project NUGGET and I’m confident that you will continue to provide us with entertainment and inspiration! Cheers Paul ya bloody legend 🍻🍻🍻🇦🇺
The last Torana I had LJ 4 door, went for a midnight drive from Blacktown to Springwood, pre freeway. Just as I was approaching Springwood , I came up behind another LJ, who floored it when he saw me in his mirror. Not to be outdone I chased him. Within a few ks there was another torana behind me. The 3 of us convoyed flat out through the windy mountain bends. I tooted to the other 2 and peeled off at MT Victoria. What a magic moment, will stay with me forever. That was mid 1993.
Some may look at this old car as junk, me I see a piece of Australian motoring history being reborn. My first was an 73 LJ four door (Gold).. This brings back great memories. Thanks Paul, more strength to ya.
1970, Mr Pearce, a teacher at our primary school, rocked up one day in his brand new bright green XU1. In those days the teachers more or less parked in the play ground area. We weren't allowed within spitting distance. He had to warn the mob of kids off, we all just wanted a gorp! Every since that day I've been a fan. Nice to see another one making its return.
Bringing back the memories. I had a four door back in 91 which I rolled end over end just out of Lucknow near Orange. I got out unscathed motor still running and Dire Straits playing. Hitched a ride back to Bathurst only to find 2 boys in blue waiting with my dad. I had rolled the car that hard it was bananaed wheels to wheels ripping the turret from B pillar to B pillar. If I was in any other vehicle I think I wouldn’t be here adding this comment.
mate old school Harley I'm down and keen to see the progress... Please add BIG BOY shirts on your store (4XL). Look forward to seeing more Torrie vids. BTW, you pulled it out of the dirt and put it back on the road so you should do what you want to it, if it wasn't for you it be still sitting in red dust.
You don’t mess around mate, there are guys that build cars so meticulously they never get to drive them and then there’s guys like you that still build them well but get them going so they can be driven which I like. Looking forward to the removal of a couple of things no matter what anyone else thinks and like you said it’s your car which if it wasn’t for you it would be dead. Keep up the great work and looking forward to the next video
I bought a UC torana in mint rust free condition with some roof damage for $500 a few months ago,, I was searching UA-cam for roof repair videos I could get ideas from and that’s when I discovered your channel and have watched every episode of your LC/LJ torana build and absolutely love the inspiration I get seeing how much Nugget has come is a short time.. On a side note: Not sure if this information would interest you but I also know where 2 nice LC/LJ shells are sitting with For Sale signs on them.. they might need chassis and running gear but very clean panels on them. Hit me up and I’ll let you know where they are hiding out
Perfect video mate. I love the carb setup; it will meter fuel so much better than the alternatives. The Harley will be a really interesting one. I've been doing a few Honda UJM bikes, which I still need to complete, cheers and have a great new year!
Not a massive Harley fan either but I would love an old military WLA, but with more modern mechanicals and reliability. Keen to see how you go with it.
G’day Paul, happy to see you doing some little improvement mods to nugget, unsure about the carb of choice, I personally like the triple su setup, but your car your choice of course. (Maybe a supercharger in the near future……lol 👀) With the clear coat of paint blown over her looks really cool, I do like the rat look. Also closer look at the windscreen rubber, it does look like it hasn’t been pulled and set into the groove properly…? For the oil leak…? I think you have nailed it, no sealant was used and that plug came off with not much of an effort..! New door trims look a treat mate, can’t go wrong with black interior. Cut it short, it’s looking awesome mate, it’s come a long way even to the stage it is so far, keep going…it only gets better. For the Harley, mate thats another story on its own…👍🏻 I’ll be watching, cheers..!
Those cicadas do make quite the racket. Here in Alabama the Yellowhammer is considered the State bird, I think it’s the cicada. Sometimes a project can be on-going. The Army Drill Sgt told us all at Basic Training, “It’s just a thing. You can’t let the thing beat you, you have to be smarter than the thing”. Keep up the great work!
Penetrol really is the best product. Every time I see an old rusty car or truck in someone’s garden or something, I think “they should Penetrol that so it doesn’t rust to pieces”
Another great episode mate, love watching you tinker and refine the Tori! As you said, it’s your car… you build it how you want it. Not everyone can afford nor want to sink $100k into a restoration, I really like how you’ve retained the old school patina. 👍

I'm with you on two things your car your rules but I do prefer a 4 door . And I can't stand Harley but giving it a old vintage look will certainly help
Dunno nothing about bikes, only gotta go fast enough to out run cows or the odd angry bull But I'll follow along and you never know I might just learn to like bikes 😊😊 Dunno much about paint or panel work I wonder if one of those green scratch pad thingy's used in the kitchen sink would soften the new gold a bit No matter, your having fun and we all enjoy watching it happen Thank you
Looking good love the old look I have worked on all the old holdens I have owned over the years I really enjoyed watching you work on the beast 😊 I will enjoy the Harley make over to can’t wait 🤙
The screaming goat 😂 Thats how I feel when I see a Harley! Lol One good thing sbout them is, that it is VINTAGE technology, so your job should be pretty easy haha. For the torry, just bang a VR V6 in it with a TH700. I did that (series one VN V6) into an LX Torana. Man that was lively in stock setup. Injected, starts, runs. I even drowned the ecu one night due to a leaky windshield plenum. Unhooked the ecu, sat it on top of the motor for 30mins, dried it out, drove 200km distance home. Bulletproof! Keep on keepin on, and I will keep watching!
Enjoyed the torana build have road Harley's for forty years its avery different world riding them if you say the things you sead obout them when you are riding around you are living very dangerously yust letting you know
Hey pal, I only got onto your channel from a mate who told me as I have a big stock LJ 4 door and he mentioned your build. You’ll never keep the keyboard warriors happy but just keep doing what you’re doing as you’ve got a new mate here!. Bring on the Harley and can’t wait to see it finished….. Cheers
Also, regarding the carbi issues, is there a limit to how much they can be angled before float angle becomes a concern, and could you ditch the linkages and convert to a cable actuation? I did this to mine way back when I changed to four-on-the-floor and twin Stromberg and it worked a treat fwiw.
Happy new year to you and your family. I love the thunderbirds type start of your videos it's what really grabbed my attention. the paintwork you did looks fine. Good to see you build your stuff however it suits you.

My old man bought a brand new LC 2600S in red from Reg Hunt Rhoades in Moorabbin (I think) in 1970. It was on a turnstile with the Wheels Car of the Year paraphenalia. Victoria reg KVD001. He was still working in Dampier WA and me and mum lived in South Melbourne. Anyway, Dad got the car about mile and half up the road from the dealer and some dickhead rear ended him, with about all of 7 miles on the clock. The slaesman near cried. That was KVD001's start to what would be many WA-Vic drives between the old man and his brother. Around 1975 he chucked it in for a used LC 2600S (again) this one being fawn, KMK820. It stayed with us until 1985 by which time we'd emigrated to NZ. I sometimes wonder where that car ended up.
@@oldskoolonly Thanks mate, whenever I see an LC at a show or wherever I'm just drawn to it, sets off so many early childhood memories! Mum had an HB Torana also and a friend of hers back in the Melbourne days had a Dublin Green LJ XU1 which he bought new. Cheers for the videos - they've made for an awesome trip down memory lane👍
Hi I had the same clearance issue with the carby have a look at raising the engine mounts either modify brackets and new solid mounts it worked for me cheers
Yeah have considered that but you’d have to do the same height with the transmission mount and there isn’t much clearance in the tunnel. If you just raise the engine it puts the diff angle out and then you start chewing up uni’s
a mechanic did the same thing, raised my engine in my old 1.6 escort van that I had in the '90 to fit a side draft webber, but the escort engine mounts a totally a different design which only needed a metal plate with a hole in the center for the bolt of the engine mount
I think your modifications are cool, Paul. The 5 speed will make nugget go like the clappers, lol. And go better on fuel. Can't wait to see the Harley build. Have a great day. Choppersrule1
Hey bro, love the videos I’m hoping you’re engine choice is gm with 8 cylinders or at least the red motor turbo’d or supercharged. No RB’s or JZ’s. Looking forward to the future videos bro. Happy New Year
Fn Amazing from what this car was to what you done to it,most people would say it’s to far gone but you could look past all that, great job absolutely love it, loving the content of your videos, look forward to seeing more 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great to see the “Puppy” Paul, Whatever you do to keep that car on the road and not being scrapped is a good thing so sod the keyboard warriors, Not really a Harley person either but I like the look and sound of them especially the older style, having hip problems and just had my knee replaced a Harley or that style bike might be easier to get on and ride than the sports bikes I currently own.
Awesome work , that carby and manifold screams performance 👌🏽 Only thing I’d change is the oil filter , I’d go to a Z160 which is the Holden v8 filter . Same everything just smaller . Cheers
Adelaide made cars. when i used to work for ai automotive back in the day at Woodville the old holden plant. in the press shop they used to have an underground die storage had all the die to crush parts for all the holden makes and gts stuff.
Hay Bud I’m so glad you took my advice on the manifold & carnie setup , I would do a 2 degree mill of both head side and carb side of the manifold , should clear the subframm bolts cheers Tony
Coming from someone who has owned and worked on 6 cylinder Holden first thing I would suggest pull those crappy tin Welsh plugs out and replace them with brass if you don't you will regret it because those tin ones will rust up and leak if you want to remove that bent over heater hose you can get rubber plugs to block them off
Great job Paul love the finished results I recon the pai nt match up looks awesome, and I'm not a bike lover but I'm intrigued to see what you'll be doing with the Harley, now doubt it will look awesome. Keep up the great work as always mate.
Another awesome video on the Torana mate, the whole journey has been unreal!! Also looking forward to the Harley build, my exact style I like as well so I’m looking forward to seeing how you go about making oldschool, enjoy legend 🤘🏼🍻
I like the oil drain pan you use. I got the shirt & sticker pack on Friday cheers. I'm happy with that!. I'll be interested in the bike build. Thanks mate 👍
You could angle plane that manifold face but make sure the bolts or studs clamping it pull up equal or it will eat the manifold up. A trick i did with my Tripple webers was to also make a adjustable brace rod that went from the engine mount to the bottom carbi to manifold studs to help support the weight. With one Delorto not too much weight but having a support helps alot. Also watch your wiring to your starter is no where near the extractors. Not nice replacing a whole car loom. Dont ask me how i know :D
Back in 73, dad bought an LJ for $3200. A 2850 auto . Come the 80's he gave to my sister. She then traded for f all on a bloody Telstar. Guess how we feel now .
"It's my car I'll do what I want", you would not believe how many people have "questioned" what I'm doing with my MG's , 100% respect Paul, I can only imagine the things you have seen and done in your roles in life, you are quite a special person, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos, live long and prosper, you deserve it. Cheers Marty (Crap to Cream YT)
Looking forward to the Harley project. Maybe similar to what I want to do to a Dyna by going FL style. 16in wheels front and back with heritage guards. Founales rear shocks and maybe a heritage front end or a standard length springer but 30's- 40's style. Can't stand the late model springer with the shock on it. Loving the Torana journey...Good luck with it.
There is another single weber manifold that is angled up that should solve your issue. It has a square tube collector that raises the carb by about 1.5 inches.

Cheers bud 🍻
Hey Bro when you mechine the manifold make saw you mechine the carby end too so the carby sits leavel so she runs sweet cheers
Hey bro, love the videos I’m hoping you’re engine choice is gm with 8 cylinders or at least the red motor turbo’d or supercharged. No RB’s or JZ’s. Looking forward to the future videos bro. Happy New Year
Fn Amazing from what this car was to what you done to it,most people would say it’s to far gone but you could look past all that, great job absolutely love it, loving the content of your videos, look forward to seeing more 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers man much appreciated 🍻
Yep go the bike mate , cheers , shaneno, nelson nz 🍺👍
Cheers brother 🍻
Great to see the “Puppy” Paul, Whatever you do to keep that car on the road and not being scrapped is a good thing so sod the keyboard warriors, Not really a Harley person either but I like the look and sound of them especially the older style, having hip problems and just had my knee replaced a Harley or that style bike might be easier to get on and ride than the sports bikes I currently own.
Cheers mate much appreciated
Sweet great video mate 👍
Cheers mate
Love the work mate.
Awesome work , that carby and manifold screams performance 👌🏽
Only thing I’d change is the oil filter , I’d go to a Z160 which is the Holden v8 filter . Same everything just smaller . Cheers
The nugget just keeps getting shinier! Love it.
The closet Harley lover comes out haha I don’t like Holden’s but I will put up with it so we are even happy new year ya little mate looks happy
Haha Cheers mate 🍻
So true about the getting the new car only to see them on every corner.
Haha, your engine Crane rolls about as good as mine - but I think for very different reasons😂
Adelaide made cars. when i used to work for ai automotive back in the day at Woodville the old holden plant. in the press shop they used to have an underground die storage had all the die to crush parts for all the holden makes and gts stuff.
Cheers man, great to hear that story.
The Nugget is looking better than ever👍
Thanks man

Have to find some clear front indicator lenses.
Got some, are the amber ones LJ?
Hay Bud I’m so glad you took my advice on the manifold & carnie setup , I would do a 2 degree mill of both head side and carb side of the manifold , should clear the subframm bolts cheers Tony
Coming from someone who has owned and worked on 6 cylinder Holden first thing I would suggest pull those crappy tin Welsh plugs out and replace them with brass if you don't you will regret it because those tin ones will rust up and leak if you want to remove that bent over heater hose you can get rubber plugs to block them off
Watch ep4 👌🏻
Joys of having tinnintus is crickets dont bother me haha
🤣
Im a ford man but have enjoyed the journey! Much rather these builds than the million dollar money pits
Cheers much appreciated
Always keen for some new projects, motorbikes, pushbikes or cars doesn't matter, you do a great job on them all.
Cheers Brett, much appreciated 🍻
Good on you for doing your own thing with your car. Respect man
🍻
Great job Paul love the finished results I recon the pai nt match up looks awesome, and I'm not a bike lover but I'm intrigued to see what you'll be doing with the Harley, now doubt it will look awesome. Keep up the great work as always mate.
Cheers mate, much appreciated.
Another awesome video on the Torana mate, the whole journey has been unreal!! Also looking forward to the Harley build, my exact style I like as well so I’m looking forward to seeing how you go about making oldschool, enjoy legend 🤘🏼🍻
Cheers mate, I’m looking forward to getting into it. 🍻
Good to hear from you again, the LC all in good time my friend Cheers
Old cars and old bikes doesn't matter what make or model can't wait for the bike build
Cheers, much appreciated 🍻
I wanted to put the ford 250 cross flo in my 4 door LJ but these days I'd put the BARRA 100 %
I like the oil drain pan you use. I got the shirt & sticker pack on Friday cheers. I'm happy with that!. I'll be interested in the bike build. Thanks mate 👍
Awesome mate, great to hear 🍻
You could angle plane that manifold face but make sure the bolts or studs clamping it pull up equal or it will eat the manifold up. A trick i did with my Tripple webers was to also make a adjustable brace rod that went from the engine mount to the bottom carbi to manifold studs to help support the weight. With one Delorto not too much weight but having a support helps alot.
Also watch your wiring to your starter is no where near the extractors. Not nice replacing a whole car loom. Dont ask me how i know :D
Hi, regarding the carby clearance issue: have you considered shimming the passengers side engine mount up a few millimetres?
Yeah I have and I’ve done that before but it’ll play on me. The machining etc will sort it easily and I’ll be happier 👌🏻
I'm definitely sticking with your channel. Can't wait for the Harley build. I've always said no to owning a Harley but you might be onto something.
Cheers mate, it’s gonna be a ripper.
Back in 73, dad bought an LJ for $3200. A 2850 auto . Come the 80's he gave to my sister. She then traded for f all on a bloody Telstar.
Guess how we feel now .
I can imagine 😬
"It's my car I'll do what I want", you would not believe how many people have "questioned" what I'm doing with my MG's , 100% respect Paul, I can only imagine the things you have seen and done in your roles in life, you are quite a special person, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos, live long and prosper, you deserve it. Cheers Marty (Crap to Cream YT)
Cheers man much appreciated. Ill check out your channel 🍻
Love ya work keep up the good fight , can't wait for the Harley transformation .. bring it on
Cheers man, much appreciated 🍻
Bloody ripper mate
Looking forward to the Harley build too
Looking forward to the Harley project.
Cheers mate pretty much what I’m doing, you should enjoy the build 🍻
There is another single weber manifold that is angled up that should solve your issue. It has a square tube collector that raises the carb by about 1.5 inches.
The one with the plenum? Yeah saw those.. this one will be easy to modify. Cheers man
Great show , I've really enjoyed this build , I also only like the early H.D bikes ,kick start triumph would be cool
Cheers mate
Great to see you continued the build is good to be home different world 🌎 ❤ it must cost a lot of money 💰
Cheers mate
Looking great 👍 👌
