- With Mutant Mayhem out in the wild, I had to return to my favorite era of Ninja Turtles. As a kid, this is one I enjoyed, but it was never my favorite. Entering my young adulthood, it's arguably my favorite Ninja Turtle game ever. Not that there aren't many fantastic ones to pick from, but the amount of secrets and unique content tucked away in this one makes it more than just another TMNT Beat-em-up to me.

At least until "Back to The Sewers" then you're right. Regardless of how goated the 2003 series, I love this game so much. It was so good to me, I even bought the sequel which despite it's lukewarm reception, I still had a great time. Ah Battle Nexus, good times, good times.

The best thing about the PS2 era is the amount of obscure games that got made, most the major Cartoon Network and nick shows got random games
A lot of people got their start in those industry from those games. Low barrier to entry too. Doesn’t happen anymore

I owned and loved this game. They actually had secret combos in the game. If you push square 5 times and hold the button on 5th time you press it "Leonardo would do a spin attack. Or on the third with "Raphael and more. The first and second one was fire. If you stay on any stage once you are not being attacked,just jump up for 5 minutes don't go attack anyone,you will get an automatic S grade.

2003 is the best version of them. I feel like the art style actually made it take itself seriously. Now all we get is extremly goofy turtles.

Yeah it definitely was healthy mix of serious and lighthearted moments. I get tmnt has been more geared towards kids so I understand not having killing but they seem to stray as far away as possible from the comics that their based on to now everything is overly goofy & you can’t take nothing serious

Its almost like Konami used to be a cool and caring game company at one point. People dont believe me these days when I tell them that even in 2003 Konami was still a great company. The 2003 tmnt game is a absolute classic that I played the HELL out of as a kid. Still have my copy to this very day too! Hopefully they re release it one day
Man this takes me back, Batte Nexus was my favorite, but it was really hard as a kid by yourself, i enjoyed it when my siblings would tag along.
Combo strings in nexus were really cool, sucks that you had to get all the antiques

Man I used to play this alot on the GameCube back in the day! This was a great series for it's time! Would always stayed tuned on 4Kids! every saturday morning just to watch 2 episodes out of order which as a kid didn't matter just couldn't wait for the series to start. Need to play this again remember it being hard at times as a kid since I always played it alone lost my memory card years ago so I'ma have to start all over. Thank you for bringing back memories!
The GBA version is my favorite out of the TMNT 2003 video games based wise.

This game and turtles in time are the peak of TMNT games.
First played this on the ps2 demo disc kiosk then even got the demo disc somehow and after months of playing it finally bought the game
And was blown away how much content the game had and the combat is probably one of the first i got real in depth with, i think this is one of the first games i 100%
It’s crazy how amazing the graphics were at time that the PS2 was out…it was so good
I was blown away what a great time to be into games even box art and manuals

What's cool about this game is when you play during the holidays say we're in Halloween in October the turtles will have pumpkin heads or if its Christmas season they'll wear santa hats in real time
I was also a Christmas Day turtle and the the little hat thing is a memory that is seared into my brain even all these years later as a 32 year old adult. God I feel like I took this game and this iteration of the turtles for granted. It was right around this time that I was at the age of having to “grow up” and pay less attention to all of my childhood heroes. Only to kick myself well into my adulthood for not keeping up with them during one of their best iterations

I find it really refreshing to get a review and a nostalgia trip from someone who actually played and enjoyed the 2003 series.
Most other popular gaming channels seem to just dump on this game becuase its not thier beloved 1980s TMNT.
Most other reviews just pick up and play the game for about 2 min, and just decide that its crap, just becuase its not 2D like the NES/SNES games.
I really enjoyed these games as a kid, and Im glad that someone with a voice is expressing how great these games and the 2003 show are.

I remember loving the demo for this in the Mario Kart Double Dash's Bonus Disc, never got the full game, but it was a lot of fun!

I'm SO HAPPY that Mutant Mayhem is literally bringing the Turtles out of the shadows again. I've seen SOOO many reviews of the OG Games. TMNT 2: Battle Nexus will always be one of my favorite games of all time, fr. This vid sold me on the first one, the combat looks pretty similar.

This was like one of the first video games I ever played as a kid the furthest I ever got was the nanobot junkyard boss fight everything about the 2003 series was goated

I beat this game once and thought it was so basic and boring. I had no idea you were supposed to beat it with all 4 characters and that had so many unlockables. My mind was blown watching this. I started playing it again, and am having a lot of fun. Gets my hands sweating towards the end. I'd love to see more videos about these games. Super enjoyable to watch, thanks!

I remember having this for the ps2. My favorite moment was when I realized I got to play through my favorite episode of tmnt 2003, "Nano", because I IMMEDIATELY knew who the final boss was gonna be. Safe to say I enjoyed fighting my favorite giant robot from my childhood right next to the transformers.

In my experience, Donatello was the best character for single player. Seemed like the reach of his bow staff made it easier compared to the other turtles' weapons.
I remember only playing the first level of this game on a PS2 demo disc, and I replayed the hell out of it. Even being a classic turtles fan there was something satisfying about this one

Although I wouldn't recommend going through the story mode and going against the bosses unless you are playing with a friend or three friends to play the other turtles
I remember with the toy line for these turtles you could get cheat codes for the game with the figures. That's why I bought the game.

This game doesn't mess around either. CO op is rough because you have to share lives. Those elemental ninjas in the museum level will DESTROY you.
I hope they release the TMNT GBA games on the NSO or add them to Cowabunga Collection via DLC in the future 😃🙏
I really like the new set! But if i can suggest something for the cib experience can you go back to overhead shots? I feel like having stuff in the background is distracting and also you cant see the whole game in that angle the overhead looks better

Hey I’d like to offer a tip for turtlebot, it’s difficult to do but what you’re supposed to do is wait for him to strike first then dash away fast then dash back and strike back (this also goes for a good number of bosses in the game)
I never got into this era of turtles as I was already older and was more of the original 90’s series/snes kid. Now that they have released the show on dvd maybe I’ll check it out the series and game. Great video.

Man im currently playing this with my cousin’ i played through battle nexus 2 and Mutant nightmare already. I can honestly say the first one feels the most like an arcade style turtles game. I havent beat this one yet but when i do, i have a feeling this will be my favorite out the trilogy
