As someone who also grew up on the '03 Turtles, the 2012 Turtles hit pretty hard. You need to give it another try, it really does start off goofy, but it gets really serious and dark later on. The voice cast is great, story makes sense and is still fun to follow, and the combat in the series is so much more than the stillframes of characters getting hit and then being thrown toward the camera we got in the 2D animation that the '03 Turtles had. It's so good, and although I still prefer the '03 cast just off of nostalgia bias, the 2012 Turtles go hard as fuck. Don't sleep on them, you'd seriously miss out.
Very true hot take: TMNT has not had a great 3D game since Mutant Nightmare. It all went down hill after that.
I was born in 2002. This and the 2007 movie are the Turtles that I grew up with in the late 2000s watching them on 4Kids TV. I'll always have a soft spot for that show, that movie, and these games. I was also a big fan of the 2012 series and the first Bay movie in my tween years lol.

Not gonna lie, "TMNT out of the shadows" for XBOX was awesome to me, played it so much back in day. This trip down memory lane was great, thanks. Take care all.
I loved tmnt 2003 and smash up when I was a kid. Gettint tmnt 03 for christmas is a core memory and I still own the game to this day. Even the day me and my friend beat the whole story in one day together. Best tmnt game

Honestly I could go on for hours about how much of an impact TMNT had on my childhood. It was one of my biggest hyperfixations as a kid, and recently, it's come back in full force.
Matty I love the OG turtles, and the 03 turtles as well. Just recently I started watching some of the 2012 turtles with my daughter and was totally surprised by how good the story is. Takes a few seasons but it gets pretty crazy.

Out of the shadows had the bones of an amazing game. The combat is so fun. It’s clearly unfinished but man I had so much fun with the Arkham style fighting.
So many memories playing these games with my older brothers and fighting over who got to play Raphael. I wish I could go back to those days being an adults sucks.

Arkham style combat mixed with Ninja Turtles is a natural pairing. Batman and Ninja Turtles both have similar fighting styles and styles of crime fighting. That idea needs to ve revisted with a '"AAA" budget.
2003 was what I grew up with and love the most but I also love the 80s and Rise of TMNT.

There is a lot of memories with Battle nexus. I was playing it with my friends in a past year and we beat it completely(and yeah, we those sick bastard's who complete all the racing levels with 3 turtles on the screen) . Like we got some double S status not only on racing levels but also on some regular ones with boss fights. And then TMNT Shredder's revenge was released, an I was fine with that game, it's solid beat em up after all, one of my friends was like "THIS GAME IS AWESOME" and another one was like "meh, let's go play battle nexus". We all grow up with 2003 series btw . And when I asked my friend why he chose the old TMNT 2 game he said that this game had more content on higher speed, he also said that after Shredder's revenge he was feeling bored and tired after few short sessions. It's sad that the second show doesn't getting as much attention as 87 version. I like the old show but the fact that companies care only about that piece of nostalgia when things comes to video games is annoying.

Turtles 2003 cartoon is still, without question, the best rendition of the Turtles. I never understood why they continue to re-do them. Should have left the best version alone as is.
Money. Also it’s Nickelodeon so any tv show and movie is doomed. At least we still have the games.

The three ps2 tmnt games were my favorite games to play when I was younger and I till this day I still love them redownloading these games a couple months ago just to play them again. Hopefully one day that can re release them or remaster them.

TMNT 2: Battle Nexus was not only my first TMNT game I played, but also happened to be the first game I played on a PS2. So I have very deeply fond memories of it. And some frustrating ones, like the much more challenging sections. Oddly enough, because of how much I was used to Battle Nexus, when I played TMNT1 on the Gamecube for the first time around the same age, I actually had a much more difficult time really getting into it. Even years later, it feels very much like a pick-up/put-down game every so often. 3, however, I have never played, but do have. I plan to get to it after beating TMNT1 for the first time, then beating Battle Nexus all over again.

The 2003 animated show game and the 2007 movie tie in were my childhood. I loved those games so much. I'm sure if I played the 2007 game today it definitely would not hold up but I remember being a dumb kid having fun with it.

2003 TMNT is very underrated. What I love most about it is that it kept that feeling of the arcade retro games while being a different incarnation. Graphics are still great and so is the combat
I played and enjoyed a few TMNT games but for now, my favorite versions of TMNT are that animated movie with immortal stone people........
and that 3D cartoon series with brain aliens in robot suits and their mutagen.

story about battlenexus with many different emotions involved: my best friend and I growing up played the hell out of that, he was Raph and I was Mikey. sad part he was hit by a car and killed nearly 3 years ago. I went to amazon to order that game as a kind of memorial but dumbasses at amazon sent the strategy guide (I ordered it as a combo deal) and refunded my money for the game itself. despite trying it hasn't come back up yet, at least a PS2 version hasn't. and subject change: mutant melee is on PS2 but very rare and very expensive.
TMNT 3 was so much fun when I was a kid, I wasn't a huge fan of the Ninja Turtles, but playing this with my friend was great and the hidden game was so mind blowing for me at the time

They should make an Arkham/Spider-Man PS4-esque TMNT game. I think the franchise would fit that type of game very well.
I should point out that Karai was actually Michelangelo's, and NOT Leonardo's replacement fighter in TMNT 2: Battle Nexus. Leo's was Slashuur, who was an exclusive character for that game, and (like 2003 Shredder) was also an utrom for that matter as well.

I've never seen a single episode of '03 TMNT but I agree it's the coolest look EVER for the turtles. I don't know why they never came back to it; modern action figures of this rendition would also be amazing to have.

You should watch TMNT 2012, it's an amazing show. Judging it based on the turtle's design is a mistake, it's a pretty mature show and is really great.

In defense of those series TMNT 2012 and Rise of the TMNT actually both do have really serious moments and depth in the characters, it’s just hard to see when looking at them from the outside, the Rise of the TMNT Movie especially does get pretty dark and genuinely intense
Not to mention how gorgeously animated Rise is. It's basically Gainax on Crack, it's *that* good

TMNT is one of my favorite games but I totally understand all of your critiques. It was one of my first video games so at the time I didn't have anything to compare it to I was just happy to be playing a video game. I still find it fun and it was my first introduction to ninja turtles which is now one of my biggest obsessions

The PS2 TMNT game and show bring back so many memories for me as a kid I damn near cried looking at the box art when you showed it I use to play this game with my mom

Just started replaying the first 03 game on the GameCube. It's such a blast.
I think PS2 manuals just generally are like that, earlier games have lovely full colour manuals and later ones are black and white cause it's cheaper to print
Probably late for this but Mutant Melee was on PC, I know that's not a console but still worth mentioning.
I remember setting the date on my gamecube to halloween and christmas and the turtles would have pumpkins and santa hats on their heads
Out of the shadows is absolutely GOATED. I've said that since I played the game for the first time, and I still believe that now. I've been dying for Redfly studio to get a chance to make a sequel because with new, updated consoles and the feedback from the first game, there's a lot of potential for a fire game.
I still don’t see the love. Like sure it had ok ideas. But the game is ugly, janky and buggy.

I loved TMNT 07 on PS2 as a kid.
Whichever one that let you go and play the original arcade turtles was great!
2003 was really fun. I think Battle Nexus is the one where they perfected the formula, not only in terms of gameplay but the huge, long campaign that adapted almost all of Season 2. It felt big and epic.
Mutant Nightmare was okay for adapting the basics of Season 3 though Battle Nexus is still the best.
I would’ve loved to see games adapting the latter seasons. Episodes like the Ancient One, the Ninja Tribunal arc, Fast Forward as a setting is great for a video game. Characters like Karai as the Shredder, Tengu Shredder, decaying Stockman, and the Dark Turtles would’ve been great boss fights.
Maybe for Fast Forward it would’ve been a more open world game to reflect how the Turtles get to live on the streets in 2105.

The arcade 1up looks better with the frost sticker removed. I didn’t think it came off but it does. I have one and to each their own though. It took 100 people telling me it came off for me to peel it off. Glad I did. Anyway great video. 😎👍🏻

This video was great! I loved so many of these games and some I didn’t get to play. I remember when mutants of Manhattan was about to come out and I was so hyped until I saw all the reviews :( shredders revenge was a saving grace! I really hope for a 3D Tmnt game

TMNT 2007 was a mixed bag. And yes I played it on GameCube along . TMNT smash up was very very good on Wii back in the day
The 2007 TMNT console game may not be to your liking but the GBA game is actually a solid 2D beat ‘em up. And lots of people who made the GBA TMNT game went on to make Shredder’s Revenge.
And omg I had all these games this gave me so much nostalgia 2003 tmnt forever !

Noticed 2 things that is a little off on your TMNT 1up cab. 1st is the control deck is foggy. There should be a thin film that you can peel off and it makes the deck look loads better. 2nd is your joy sticks are missing the disc dust covers. Not critical or anything but does help prevent dust build up inside. Fun video and keep up the good content.
I was super young the first time I played these, I remember this is how I learned what a doppelgänger was
I feel like looking back now I never gave '03 Turtles a fair shot. By then I was in college and had pretty much gotten into other things. Also I had severe nostalgia bias for the 80s/early 90s Turtles. I do remember watching and liking a few episodes but never really getting into it. I would love to try and give '03 Turtles another shot now that I'm older and can appreciate a more serious Turtle series.
