People like Matti doing "reviews" but essentially just hyping the camera without any usable information to make a purchase decision. And then we have this ACTUAL review. Tons of information and helped me decide if this is the camera for me. Personally, the A7Siii fits better for my needs. Thanks Philip for the extremely helpful video!
I honestly can’t wrap my head around how you create something so good. The footage, the structure, the editing- it’s all so masterful. I just can’t even. I have lost the ability to even.
Gerald randomly showing up in a video is just the bee's knees. This review was really great. I was really looking forward to hearing about this camera, as it's on my shortlist.
The picture of your screen as you are recording it side by side to your final edit is brilliant. I love your reviews, thank you for being awesome and the most OG pro cinema gear reviewer in the industry!
Always a pleasure queuing up ANY of your videos. From the cine quality to the amazing review details. Your wit and story telling is "the best". Thanks.
Philip - As a professional cinematographer i’m stunned of how amazing this video is. I own two FX6 and love them. Been thinking about buying Neat for a long time.. well, you convinced me. Have a great day- keep making amazing videos like this. Oh.. I also fell asleep at some point of the video, but that’s because of how calm and nice your voice and the beautiful footage is. A beauty for the eye and brain.

I never miss the reviews...even if I am not interested in the camera....this was a piece of art as usual...you are a true artist not a camera reviewer Philip !....the track that you used here in the beginning ( the one that you used also for the a7s iii) is such a great match with that b roll.....I don't know it's just this vibe that gets me as a viewer to keep watching even I already don't want to upgrade now !!
I’ve never been so down for a 42 minute review! I’ve just found you this afternoon in between filming horse races here in Australia - and this is a fantastic thing to watch! Thanks!
The viewfinder is what I miss the most. I'm not a big fan of the loupe that came with my FS7m2 so I won't buy the one Sony ships with the FX9 for the FX6 I've ordered. The Zacuto Z-Finder seems to be OK but it's a bit pricey at € 500 plus VAT for ending up just with a magnification of the original 720p screen. How could Atomos sell me a Ninja which has a lot more features and 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution for € 300 plus VAT?
While I always watch the many UA-cam reviews of a new Sony Camera once the launch occurs and the review embargo is lifted, I always patiently wait for your review Philip and I’m glad your review always comes a few days to a week after the embargo.. (probably due to Neat video NR rendering your “compact” video in PP) I knew many reviewers would rave about the FX-6 size, specs and the price value for what it can produce, however I can’t think of a DP or film maker I trust more to explain (while entertaining me) ,what lies beneath the surface of a film making tool and what is great, good and what could be so much better with some additional effort. Thank you so much for what you do.
What an extremely pleasant review to watch, all 42 minutes of it. I think it was the best review I ever saw really. Also, this was my introduction to your channel. Thank you.

Great work as usual, the best story teller I have seen so far, doesn't overuse B-roll and other new-gen tricks but still makes you watch it till the end, and only disappointment I have is that it ended, which means I need to wait another video! I am amazed by your skills!

Thank you so so so much! This is why I love your videos, practicality throughout the ENTIRE workflow! I never knew that having it as the first effect is what helps Premiere!
Thanks for the review. In about 42 minutes, you got me laughing, listening, doubting the purchase of my fx9 which I received a week ago, but then again not doubting it as much whilst enjoying the lovely footage from the fx6, at times scratching my head but knowing the biggest part of the beautiful imagery is the operator as shown overall in this review and especially in the last shot how all of this ends with the tilt up to the firework. Well, have to go back to my fx9 and understand it better, while in the meantime waiting to see what the A7IV will bring. Thank you Philip.

I can't justify an expense like this for my current needs (I use a Nikon z6 to juggle between photos and video work/self-amusement) but I'll be damned if I don't enjoy one of your intricately detailed reviews (with filming techniques sprinkled here and there). Philip, really enjoying your documentary style reviews. Keep up the great work! I feel that I'll be adding the FX6 to my kit down the road. Great little cinematic beast! -Tony
I waited 17 years (since DVX100/DVC80 cameras) to "JUMP" on the HD wagon...this is it! I DON'T need 4K. Good 1080/60p is GOOD ENOUGH for my NEEDS! What I DO NEED though its GREAT low light performance! Thanks Philip for the GREAT review!
Thanks for this Philip, I've found I watch the standard release day reviews / hand-on videos and then enjoy watching your thoughts far more than those day 1 videos. Lovely tone throughout, as ever.
As Always, great work-simply the best! I would love to see the timeline of this Film in your editor. Bet it’s crazy in places but beautiful all through.
I started to watch this review because I am interested in buying one of this FX6 and I got more confused. Lol, not really! But what I discovered is that now I want to watch all your reviews even if I am not interested in the equipment you review. Your shooting style, the music, the way you cut your videos is amazing. And the icing on the cake is your wonderful sense of humor. You should be making big budget films, not equipment reviews!
This was exceptional. I cannot think of a “review” I have every enjoyed watching as much as I enjoyed watching this. Enjoyed being the key phrase here. Thank you. Thank you so much.
This, and all cameras, are just "one" firmware away from true greatness that will never happen, now or ever, because perfection kills business and business is the last thing to ever get killed.. even people get killed first. My take? There are too many cameras in the market already, just, too many. Just go out, shoot with whatever you have, and if what you create is telling, moving and has substance, positively no one will care what is what shot on, what codec you used or how good the dynamic range is. Another camera that Sony expects to sell to everyone that already has several other cameras because.. well.. it's better in some ways. Thank you for the review.. much better than the camera itself :)
Thank you. This is how I feel ! Manufacturers have us professionals on a invisible leash. They take our money every year but our clients aren't willing to pay more.
@@Ariel_emerald Indeed.. in a world of compromises, I think the a7s3 hits most of the ideal points, from features to price, to true value and versatility.

This is not the question for the perfect camera quest, this is the question of cameras with things that make no sense and that have obvious flaws in an effort to buy several so all together you can actually get a working system with the features you need.
Once again, perfect review, Philip! I already have a great A-cam, so for my needs: a good b-roll camera that's lightweight with amazing autofocus, ibis, easy to throw on a gimbal... I think I'll stick with my A7S iii pre-order. Nothing against the FX6, just not what I need. Thanks for answering all my questions.
I preordered mine this morning. but why oh why did they not include an XLR input on the body and not include the new updated user interface / menus from the a7S iii??? 😩😩😩
