As a teen when this song came out I remember the impact of this guitar solo on me. None of my friends thought anything of it so I figured I was over zealous. Now listening to your comments I feel validated. Ha! Now I’m off to learn it now. Thanks KDA!
The greatest and most underrated guitar solo of all time. Agreed. Melodic! Quirky! Speedy! Excellent picking technique. A great part of the song. I was in Navy boot camp in 1979 in Orlando Florida and this song was all over the radio when I transferred to "A" school after basic.
You got that right.....when i ever see top 100 guitar solo's...i never ever see this listed....it is absolutely unrated..because people think that knack was just a one an done deal.....their first album...is killer!...excellent call!
Awesome job...I’ve always loved that solo (Get the Knack is a strong album all the way thru)...I’ve played it sloppy for years...thanks for nailing it down for us KDA...rock on my brother!!!!
You're absolutely right? I used to love hearing that song In the seventies. especially the solo man. It just got you pumped up Loving the guita solo then all of a sudden you noticed they take the lead guitar out. The best part of the whole Song. And you explained it. explains it. I always wondered why they cut parts of songs out because of radio time. How does that even make sense and then base? And I want to thank you so much for teaching this perfectly. I'm gonna start falling you. God-bless man.
Right on. I also use 10s. Been playing with the NYXLs but normally EBs. I have a hard time with this solo because the fast interchanging picking patterns on the highs are really hard for me to visualize and then play. Idk
know nothing about musical theory but thought that power chord from this song was supposed to be an f#? But then when I looked up the key of this song, the interwebs told me it was in the key of C which means no sharps.
Thank you. You’ve given me enough confidence to try this & I agree-the greatest solo of the 70s.

That solo fits the song like a glove. In the same way Hotel California’s or Stairway to Heaven’s or Freebird’s does.
Thanks again, Kelly. Always loved that fun song.
You're right, I don't quite remember this song having a solo, but I'm glad it does and that you get us another great tutorial. Thanks!
One of the best solo's of all time and you don't remember it!
@@timaddison707 Yes, isn't life filled with such wonderful and amazing things!
The full solo was left off the radio edit, so unless you had the album it could easily pass you by.
Excellent - by far the best tutorial on this solo I've come across. Thank you :)
I'm a huge Vanhalen/metal guy,but this is one of my favorite solos of all time thanks Brutha 😊

Completely agree. Woefully underappreciated guitar work. Such a sweet melodic solo
This is in my opinion my favorite solo of all time. Very underatted like you say

Well done for giving the shout out to Berton Averre!
Awesome as usual ,, gonna be learning this one for sure
love! this solo
Great job. Thanks a lot!! Solo is underrated because a song is masterstroke anyway. Real Gem among gems ..without this mind blowing solo! .
Excelente! mil gracias!!
excellent Thank you so much.
obrigado pela aula cara!!! eu amo esse solo
Part of that guitar solo 12:45 was a little ahead of it's time in 1978-79. That kind of pattern wasn't common for guitarists until in 82.
For starters the riff begins on the 2nd fret
Great tutorial thanks man, what gauge strings do you use?
Ernie Ball 10s. Green pack regular slinky

Which PRS is that? It’s gorgeous. What burst is it? Thanks! Great lesson
It's a PRS SE245. I think it's just called vintage burst.
Okay, ..this is my pick to work on today. I keep putting it off ...but... it makes me crazy every time i hear it and can't play it.
11:20 note to self
11:52 riff first half
The best pop guitar solo ...now do the second best pop solo ...Two Tickets To Paradise...Eddie Money
this solo made my buy a guitar when I was 14 in 1979 still don't play it right
Me too. Still have it, but I can play it right.
Hi nice! What model PRS is that, the SE or the CE, 24 Fret?
22 fret SE.
7:15 - where I left off

I learnt half of this and then sliced tips of my 3rd finger with a knife and now i have to wait a week to learn the pull offs section. SAD
That slide up into the the riff is a half step not a whole step ...you do not play an F - use a F# ... just saying.
it slides from F# to G not from F
