Quite an underrated developer for the quality of the plugins they produce which punches above the weight-class. I have TB EQ4 but the Proximity EQ-like Ambient and Sustain Filters makes me want to get this. Had this been another developer, they would've priced this closer or above 100. At 59 euros, this is quite a stoutly featured EQ. I wish the developer uploaded more tutorials and deep dives.

That split second you cut with the direct filter instantly made the drums sound like a room mic. That was impressive.

Thanks for an extensive review! The amount of science here is immense. TB and TDR are on top of the game today.
I wwwway prefer how EQ4 deals for everything, as well how it looks. But the PRO does need some time to learn how amazing it is and it does sole the problems you never even hoped to deal with. I kind of like the idea they are slightly different in what they do - with both of them it looks like everything that I can imagine EQ can do is done. One big bummer is no LP mode though :(

Toneboosters stuff is absolutely top notch!! And wow, that sibilance filter seems to be working really well, that's something that every EQ plugin should have. 🤩🤩

Aside from a few early version tiny teething problems, this seems like a very capable 'EQ' tool. I was skeptical when I saw the thumbnail...but honestly, I think the thumbnail sentiment was a fair appraisal of this. And there's a world of difference between it's competitors pricing wise, so Toneboosters are really coming into this part of the market aggressively. Fair play to them, it's a crowded field!
Nice melody on that tune too, very Beatles :)

Great channel. Keep going. Hope you get big. Toneboosters always have great plugins at a affordable price. Barricade is still my goto limiter.

I completely agree with you about the ability to quickly switch filter modes and the filter window covering the spectrum. I would prefer to be able to choose to move it somewhere or minimize it.

The reason that the demo and license button swap places from time to time is probably to prevent people from scripting a button push. Seems fair with such a generous trial approach.

TB EQ pro has better spectral resolution and dynamic range (-140db vs -120)
The creator of TB is a highly skilled audio and software engineer and researcher with a background in psychoacoustics and dsp vs software engineers who consult with professional audio engineers and sound designers.
    Edit:
9:44, You are now able to drag the window in the latest version.

If they add linear phase (and preferably a mixed mode such as Kirchoff EQ offers) then it might actually be a kill-them-all plugin. That said, it’s pretty amazing what this demo version offers ‘for free’.

Hi Friend, (Unable to find out your name brother) I am Bijo from India. Based on your experience, which one is better for a beginner's perspective (TB Eq 4 or EQ Pro)? I found both of those are having multiple options like (De esser, Volume doubler) .. so basically if I buy one, that will serve multiple purpose.. But as a said before, I am a complete beginner and having only less than 4 months of experience in Reaper). Which one are you recommending? Let me know once you get the time. (In my work flow, I want to add the following. 1) Tone corrector, 2) EQ, 3) Compressor, 4) Deesser, 5)Doubler, 6) Reverb and 7) limiter). Since you are an experience person, If you have any other suggestion, request you to share the same. So I am looking for a plugin, which will help to cover multiple purpose... Thanks. 🙏

I haven't tested split EQ, but this one is cheaper and more powerful (because it has more filter types) - so I'm happy with this one :)

My personal opinion is that it's probably better to have both EQ-4 and EQ-Pro separated because in EQ-4 you have far more control over the compression aspect of the filters where as in EQ-Pro you basically have none. EQ-Pro however does have M/S/L/R placement whereas EQ-4 does not. So I think they complement each-other pretty well, but I wouldn't upgrade my EQ-4 license to a Pro license personally.

I was scratching my head trying to figure out sidechaining. NOBODY mentions the fact you have to select a dedicated sidechain filter (which is weird in my opinion) all dynamic eq's I use just do this by default

Without linear phase you will ruin your low end when using high-pass filters

    • @xantux
      @xantux  3 місяці тому +1

That's not how it works - you just can't use stuff on parallel without linear phase (according to Dan Worrall)

The plugin is good, but the demo pop-up is really annoying. If it pops up only one time like Reaper, this plugin could be the best free EQ ever. I uninstalled it after 30 mins because of the demo pop-up. I rather go with other free EQ plugins. There are plenty of alternatives these days.
