      @@capedluna News flash: Its not simple to prepare fish at ALL and Haru just loves mackerel THAT much that he goes out of his way to make it repeatedly. Then again, mackerel is easier to prepare than other fish, so maybe that's why

    That foil is a bad idea, the fish sticks to it and when you try to remove it, small pieces of foil rips off.

      Actually, the Japanese are credited with having the most correct portion (rations) in the world - most of us in the west over-consume food on such a scale that it is literally making us sick. Also, the amount of animal based proteins we eat is about 150-350% more than what we should be eating for a healthy, sustainable diet. I think we call all learn a thing or two from the Japanese when it comes to food - after all, they are amongst the healthiest people on the planet.

    • @NotSoCrazyNinja
      @NotSoCrazyNinja 6 років тому +3

      You don't NEED triple the portion unless you actually burn a lot of calories (extreme bodybuilding, twelve-hour hard labor workdays, and so forth). The human body is amazingly efficient. A small piece of fish, a small portion of rice, a pinch of vegetables and maybe a vegetable-based soup is all you need for a meal. If you're used to eating a lot, it will seem like it's too little, but you will get used to it and your body will thank you for not overeating. It has to work harder when you overeat.

    what type of mackerel is this? Spanish? I was at a fish market today and noticed there are many kinds

    • @vincentx2850
      @vincentx2850 7 років тому

      Actually just mackerel (saba in romanji), Spanish mackerel (sawara in romanji) is a rather different - though related - fish with a leaner taste profile. Of course Spanish mackerel also tastes great on the grill, but it also tends to have a higher heavy metal content as they are far more predatory than true mackerel if that is your concern.

    You need to oil the fish before you place it on pan or it will stick. The video doesn't tell you this. The skin came off, and I was very disappointed. Lesson learned.
