    Sing a song of sunbeams,
    Let the notes fall where they may;
    Sing a song of sunbeams
    In a light fantastic way.
    Show the blues that you're busy
    And you just can't be annoyed,
    And they'll up and go,
    'Cause they know
    They're null and void.
    People all are softies for a grin,
    You give out, they're gonna give in!
    People always love a jolly gent,
    They might even make him president!
    So sing a song o' sunbeams,
    Let the notes fall where they may;
    Sing a song of sunbeams
    In a light fantastic way.
    Life is never perfect,
    But it isn't always wrong,
    So the only thing
    To do is sing
    A sunbeam song.
    People all are softies for a grin,
    You give out, they're gonna give in!
    People always love a jolly gent,
    They might even make him president!
    Why don't you sing a song of sunbeams?
    Let the notes fall where they may;
    Sing a song of sunbeams
    In a light fantastic way.
    Life is never perfect,
    But it isn't always wrong,
    So the only thing
    To do is sing
    A sunbeam song.

    Whenever a newspaper page appears in an old movie, I always want to read the stuff around whatever's being featured in the plot. So I froze the image to read the classified ads at the start of this scene, and to my surprise, the ad immediately to the left of the pertinent one reads: "HELP WANTED - MALE / DRESS - Blue chiffon in Cunningham's drug store, of Griswold exploded today, killing two and were demolished." Meanwhile ALL the other ads on the screen are completely normal and realistic. So this was some oddball little in-joke that no movie-goer in 1939 was able to read or wonder about, but which we can today!

      It wasn't a joke at all. Evidently you are unaware that blue chiffon dress bombs were heavily utilized by the U.S. Air Force in World War II, and dropped all over Germany and Japan, until we ran out of blue chiffon.

      @@truthbetold444 It wasn't right to publicize the blue chiffon dress bombs in a Hollywood movie in 1939, two years before the USA would get involved in the war. Disseminating crucial defense information like that to the potential enemies of our nation could be considered treasonous. J. Edgar Hoover should have investigated and brought the perpetrators to justice, I say.

    This film aired on our local “Million Dollar Movie” - you know, the station would air the same film three times over a weekend. Being an entertainment-hungry kid, I watched it three times. Today I have trouble remembering my usernames/passwords, but I can “Sing a Song of Sunbeam” verbatim!

      They still do that but you were lucky, you had a good movie to watch 3 times a weekend.Now it's rubbish we are expected to enjoy. I could gladly accept an old movie, the kind they don't make any more.

    In reality, no record player in the 1930s could possibly have worked in a moving vehicle. The needle would've been bounced all over the record.
