Interviewing the barman/woman or owner needs to be a staple in your new videos. Adds something else to the vids compared to your older Guinness stuff. Great vid, keep it up!
Wonderful pub. Went there after a storehouse visit and accidentally left our gift shop merch behind. The barman chased us down the street to get it back to us. Total class. Loving the new content Daragh. Great balance.
I’m a Marketing Director for a fortune 25 company in the US. Happy to help you define your content strategy and brand identity if interested. Love your stuff, my man. For no cost, obviously
Harkins restaurant is a hidden gem! Went there for a meal with my girlfriend after a visit to the Guinness Storehouse & was pleasantly surprised with the restaurant and the meal we were served! I had the peri peri chicken and she had the make your own pizza. 10/10
Switching to “Pub Guru” is so simple yet so effective - opens up so much fresh content on the same theme, whilst appealing to the same original subscribers! It’s a win win win
My wife and I went to this pub it was amazing, in Canada a very popular drink is cider and guiness, it's called a crown float, my wife wanted one, I told her that you don't mess with guiness in Ireland. She made me order it, and the bar tender really wouldn't do it, but did. The server brought it over and literally punched the table with it where the beer literally sprayed her everywhere it was hilarious
We call that a Poor Man's Black Velvet, or just a Black Velvet. But really a Black Velvet is supposed to be Champagne/Sparkling Wine topped with Guinness, which is why a cider version is called a Poor Man's Black Velvet. The Beatles used to drink them in Liverpool before they'd go streetfighting. It's true ya know, real bruisers they were in the early days.
Been a Guiness drinker for nearly 50 years, but I've recently ditched the nitrosurge cans for the Forged tins. It's all a matter of personal taste, and I just think the Forged tastes a lot better than Guinness tins. Slightly smokey with a hint of chocolate, lovely stuff. Hard to beat the Guinness out of a keg though. The keg Forged is excellent too.
Just a little tip Darragh. If you are going to rate any draught beer the one thing you should never do is eat immediately before as your taste buds will be all over the place due to salt, spices, butter, oil as they effect the pallett
Lovely all around. That Guinness stew looked serious. Guinness Stew Guru for a year!! On our trip last year I ate a lot of Guinness stew and the best we found was at Darkey Kelly’s. Would be a worthwhile stop.
When I visit Ireland, must things to do include the Guinness Storehouse and visit pubs, plus have a good Guinness stew. This seems like a must visit and glad you pointed it out
Love the music at the beginning. Reminds me of the older videos that you done back in the day in Drogheda, Navan and Dunshaughlin. I think chatting to the owner/bar staff is something that you should do in all videos going forward. A large part of pub culture is the games people play in pubs like darts, pool, rings (and poker machines 😅) would be good to see some of that Long live the pub guru
Reckon you have it right now mate. Food and Guiness.....allow for occasional other pint....like most people have to do especially with the bang average Guiness in Sheffield. I'm 59 that make me an auld lad? Used your video to point me in right direction in Limerick, Galway and Cork...so don't stop the pubs and other parts of Ireland. Keep them coming 👍👍
Great pub, run by lovely people, my Mum loved coming here whenever she'd visit me in Dublin. When the woman running the place found out she also owned and ran pubs she told her to serve her own drink 🤣
Man great change for the channel this, we all love a good pub, really looking forward to seeing where it goes, Ireland and beyond I hope. Ah, think I'll go for a pint.
I was sitting in Ryan's on Store Street watching your Enniskillen video again when this one popped up. So I've had to order another pint to have while watching this one 😊🍻
Defo backing the new second channel Daragh Curran - Stew Guru! Loved this one though, good to see you visibly enjoying making the video too. All these pub videos make me want to visit Ireland, I’m west mid England and never ventured, maybe 2024 is the year who knows. Cracking video mate, looking forward to more of them
I'm native English but I had a really hard time understanding what the barman was saying in the second half of that interview lol. Love these videos, reckon talking about one pub a video like this is a good idea, I'm all for watching these. Really interesting stuff.
I used to live down that next of the woods. (St James Gate) and the pubs round the area used to have very very good Guinness: Arthurs, The Dice Bar, (now gone) The Croppy Acre (long long gone). O'Sheas beside Dublin Corporation. Never been to this one but passed it may times. Will check it out.
Great video as always Daragh . That stew looks lovely in fairness about time the camera man got a feed 😂. I would love you to come and try one of my Guinness clones . I brew all my own stouts from scratch. Haven’t quite cracked the Guinness yet but I have some very close that hold there own as a nice stout . Cheers 🍻
It would be cool to see you visit irish pubs in Denmark. We have a lot of those and I am not sure if they are all faithful to the proper irish experience.
Head thickness strongly depends on gas pressure. Too low pressure gives too much head. The fact that both the Guinness and forged had a slightly thin head could suggest that the has pressure is a touch too high.
Interesting.. you seemed to enjoy the stout when you had it in the Black Forge Inn with the food a few months back.. was that because it goes better with food and not so good on its own or? This pint looked far creamier with less bubbles etc than the one you had in the restaurant?
This is more like it Daragh! None of that pop to a hotel/restaurant looking for some posh nosh and eaten a feckin cheese toastie. Stick to the black gold!
Forged is not Smokey at all, feck knows where you get this smoked flavour from, it’s a really good pint, has more flavour than Guinness, more on the roasted and chocolate flavour side of tings.
They sell it in spoons in blanch too. The Guinness in harkins is better than the storehouse I think . Think this is the last place where Brendan behan had a pint before he died
I went to Dublin for the first time last May. i have been drinking Guinness since 1970, an old git and had many a good pint and too many bad ones. Followed your list of pubs to go to in Dublin and went to the brewery experience. Best pint by far was Bowes, closely followed by the grave diggers. Had an absolute shite pint on the way the the brewery. which does prove Guinness management is vital wherever you are in the world.
Yes, I've always said it's a myth that Guinness is great in Ireland. I've had better Guinness in Great Britain than many I've had in Ireland. Time people realised it's a myth.
Not a myth at all that Guinness is better in Ireland, it undoubtedly is. You have no clue what good Guinness is. Yes not every pint will be mind blowing but the average is 1000% better in Ireland. Particularly in the West I’ve found. 95% of ‘great Guinness’ in the UK is below a pretty bad pint in Ireland. With the exception of literally 1 pub I’ve been to in London that still doesn’t top the best in Ireland but is very good when poured by the right person on the regular tap.
I had Forged Stout in a can in NYC. Did not like it, very very heavy and was not a smooth drinking experience. I felt as if I was working to drink the beer.
Interviewing the barman/woman or owner needs to be a staple in your new videos. Adds something else to the vids compared to your older Guinness stuff. Great vid, keep it up!

Feels like you've nailed it with Pub Guru, the passion really comes across. Glad to see you enjoying yourself again. All the best, fella.

Lesson one. It’s Guinness. Not Guiness. 😎
Fair point very well made......apologies to all !! 😅
The new Irish bar back of City Hall sell Forged & it's amazing. Sweeter & more chocolatey than Guinness

Great youre back
Doing pubs with a story/history should be great in 2024…and of course Guinness!
I'm native English but I had a really hard time understanding what the barman was saying in the second half of that interview lol. Love these videos, reckon talking about one pub a video like this is a good idea, I'm all for watching these. Really interesting stuff.
Tried my first Guinness 3 weeks ago at the age of 39. Not drank anything else since, absolutely hooked. Love the videos 👍
I did end up trying this pub when I was in Dublin a couple of years ago, it was really nice pub. Also, I think it was under €6 for a pint of Guinness.
Nothing beats Guinness and im a dub whos grandfather worked at Guinness. Theyre on another level.
Had a pint of Forged Stout at a pub in Yorkshire over the weekend. Totally agree with your review - I expect a stout to be a bit smoother.
Where was it, mate? I haven't come across it yet.
@@RichardOliver It was at the Treehouse Bar and Kitchen, Haworth.
The Winterspoons in Cork city sells Forged on draught. Porterhouse stout is my favourite.
Great video well played daragh 👏👏
Much prefer the pub and/or pints vids again 🤙🍻
Loving the new videos , best of luck Darragh , keep going . I still haven't tried forged Irish stout . As a Guinness drinker have to give it a rattle
Great video , had a few messy afternoons in there lol
Landlord looked a nice chap.
The Forged Stout, Had a pint of it in the Wetherspoons, Grand Canal Dock. Not a bad stout
This pub is on my bucket list !😀
Great video as always Daragh . That stew looks lovely in fairness about time the camera man got a feed 😂. I would love you to come and try one of my Guinness clones . It would be cool to see you visit irish pubs in Denmark. We have a lot of those and I am not sure if they are all faithful to the proper irish experience.
I’m just back from Copenhagen. Found an Irish bar over there called Kennedy’s. Superb pint of Guinness out of that place.
I love these pub videos!
Had a few cans of Forged recently, thought it was pretty good, and a decent alternative to a Guinness draught cans.
Head thickness strongly depends on gas pressure. Too low pressure gives too much head. The fact that both the Guinness and forged had a slightly thin head could suggest that the has pressure is a touch too high.

The boy is back in town 😂.Nuair a thosaigh mé ag amharc ar do físeáin thosaigh mé ag d’ól an iomarca Guinness arís.
enjoying these vids mate
They serve it at Wetherspoons, when ‘spoons’ take over Southern Ireland it wouldn’t suprise me if it overtakes Guinness.
I’ve noticed in spoons In the uk there starting to use the old style glasses now
Need to get those views up!
Pucan in Galway city serves Forged
This is more like it Daragh! None of that pop to a hotel/restaurant looking for some posh nosh and eaten a feckin cheese toastie. Stick to the black gold!
the sovereign seal of eire 13 string?, that room can be used as a court
Great video.probably very awkward to give a mark knowing that your going to speak to the owner afterwards.
I just got back from Dublin. They were serving Forged in a spot called Buskers in Temple Bar area
Overpriced dump
you're not wrong
@@stedoyle
Hey daragh, how's it going buddy and how come they want to change the glasses?
Try rubys swords for a pint of forged stout plus their chicken wings and ribs
Still cant take this lad serious when he didn’t know the difference between a can and a pint off the tap. Or Guinness, murphys and beamish shocking.
The Guru is back thank god 👐👐
Beamish is smokie too and nice pint
Forged is not Smokey at all, feck knows where you get this smoked flavour from, it’s a really good pint, has more flavour than Guinness, more on the roasted and chocolate flavour side of tings.
I've had forged stout. It's not smokey at all. It's much nicer than beamish or Murphys
Maybe someone left a tab end in the bottom of the glass before they poured
Nah murphys in cork is hard to beat unbelievable pints of it down there.
Murphys is better than forged
Fair play to Conor spread the wealth around
They sell it in spoons in blanch too. The Guinness in harkins is better than the storehouse I think . Think this is the last place where Brendan behan had a pint before he died
Yep it was called the Harbour Lights when Brendan Behan drank there.
Pretty stressful review I'd say. The thoughts of a coked up Conor tracking you down after a bad review would be enough to give you nightmares
Now u have it stick McGregor's name into every video this year. "I'm here in a toilet in Louth that McGregor once used

Pub guru 👏👏👏
McGregor being the barman then leave a grand tip shows his good side and why some of us still actually like him...
Great to hear the thin lizzy intro again 👏🏻👍🏻
Whats "Gravy" got to do with Stew...
pub guru 👌🏼👏🏼
Most Irish people don’t even like Conor mcgregor
They serve it in wetherspoons too
Small head = more Guinness. Is that not better? Just my opinion. 😎
It’s in every wherherspoons in Dublin
I think harkins were the first to get it in before it went in anywhere else.
4:34 controversial sneeze
Guinness gives the new glasses for free, but charged for the old ones. Be thankful pubs stuck with the old and paid for them.
I had Forged Stout in a can in NYC. Did not like it, very very heavy and was not a smooth drinking experience. I felt as if I was working to drink the beer.
All the Wetherspoons in Dublin sell the forged stout and a couple of locals where I am in Wexford do it too
Ara a right man would have had the pint with the stew 💪 bit rushed
Beamish is hardly Smokey. It's very like Guinness
The owner mentions that Beamish is having a revival thanks to hipsters ? Really ?
No alliteration anymore tho…. Pub Puru?
Forged better then Guinness
Cracking video
Hon darci
If it's anything like his pisskey, it won't be great. I've heard it compared to an over-roasted Beamish.
Not going to lie but I miss the days of you randomly hitting London and reviewing shit hotels and eating eels.
Do you favorite cuppa in Ireland next!
change your name again lol
Hey @daragh Curran, was this a paid promotion video?
Mcgregors a bawbag😅
McGregor for president❤
You're obsessed with McGregor. Get over him ffs.
Do women get an assault with every pint or just a bag?
Guinness is the most over rated pile of shite in a glass. Im born and bred Irish, drank for last 20 years. Its a pure shite.
What do you drink?
Please stop going over old content 🙏
"Keep it real" you're going bald.
yer allergic to flavor
Oh my God it looks like dirty piss water
