The hump is for inverted skinning, you slide the spine against the meat and push it forward, unzips the skin as the tip stays above piercing height, and you don't cut into organs.
Nice! I love the look of that. Thanks for another good review Sootch.
I'm getting some "The Revenant" vibes from this blade... Sweet!
I just got it at SMKW today. Its my first ESEE and so far I love it.
Its a beautiful knife and I ordered one yesterday from SMKW ! I can't wait to get it! Great video bud!
Just ordered this one looks like a great companion to my Ashley game knife
Live within minutes of SMKW, thanks for visiting our area. Great knife!
Very Cool knife Sootch00. Thanks for the knowledge about Nessmuk style knives too. As always long live the republic my friend !!!
Thanks for a good review. I purchased the ESEE PR4 Kephart, but think I need the Nessmuk too. ESEE makes great knives! Like Dave C. says, "Two is one and one is none."
Thanks for another great review. I'd already decided my next knife would be the ESEE JG3 (for an EDC and small carver), now I'm thinking I'll order a JG5 along with it. Something about James Gibson's designs really appeal to me, maybe one day I'll order one of his customs.
Smokey Mountain knife works is 45 minutes away from my home town of Onidea Tennessee..awesome place!
I just ordered the jg5 couple days ago from SMKW can’t wait to get it I have the izula and the 3,4 and 6 I think it’ll be a nice addition to my Esee line
That first knife (Rowen) has a profile of a traditional butcher knife.
Been looking for a reasonable full tang option
Looks like a great skinning knife.
Thanks great review
I became jealous when I heard you say "I was in SMKW." That's like Disney World for me.
have owned the blade for a year or so .... love it for a number of reasons... i prep wood ...etc. its my go to if i am camping or fishing
Nice review Sootch. Interesting blade design. I really like it. It really looks like a very old design.
Sootch, I just like your reviews!!!
