Any extra function beyond telling the time is called a ‘complication’ because when the original watchmakers of mechanical watches were asked to add an additional feature they felt it complicated their work. True.
My Apple Watch alerted me that my heart rate was low. I went to ER and after tests they said I needed bypass surgery and should not go home to wait for one or I could have a heart attack. Bypass was successful.
I’m always using the multiple timer function. But the best thing is if you use Siri to dictate and set a timer and tell it to title that individual timer something, it will then remind you what thing you were timing. Useful for cooking when several things are all on different timers. "Hey Siri set a 15 minute timer, titled check potatoes".
"Complications" This is NOT really such a 'stoopid' term (2:30) as you say. Complication is a traditional watchmakers' term used by Swiss & other watch producers for over 120 years to refer to any function of a watch beyond its basic function of giving the time. Quite normal, common around the world, and it's not stupid 😂 . Thus, a mechanical watch that also shows the date has one complication, and further complications are built into more expensive clockwork watches, including the date, a separate second-hand, or the month, etc. Rolex and other high-end watches can include many complications such as the month, phase of the moon, time in another time-zone etc.. Watchmakers even compete and show off their design skills by building in more complications than others. Louis XIV's personal clock has the most complications ever built into one timepiece, and its designer is a legend among modern horologists. The Apple watch is still a watch, but it's electronic and so can include numerous fancy complications not possible in clock-work watches.
Multiple Timers on the Apple Watch: You can also name your timers. This is helpful in cooking, child care, maybe health care, coaching. Also, I find using Siri the easiest way to set the timers. How to: Say: Siri set 2 minute eggs timer, Siri set a 5 minute Doug time out timer, Siri set a 10 minute screen time timer. Then your watch will have a title on the timer while it is running and when it goes off. This can cut down on the confusion if you are super busy.
Killer feature of the Theatre Mode: the flashlight will be soft red instead of bright white. So nice for midnight trips to the bathroom. (I have the action button set as a flashlight). My number one feature request is ability to set the default flashlight setting to always be red, so you don’t need to be in theatre mode to have quick access to red light.
Speaking of list vs. grid view, I like the list view. However, my wish would be to allow the list view to fully rotate from the end of the list to the top without “bottoming out”! Minor annoyance.
Good stuff. The timers are incredibly helpful. I got a watch yesterday, and while it's kinda gimmicky, I think there's a good case for having one if you're out and about a lot and don't always wanna be grabbing a phone and setting it down etc. just glance and get back to whatever you're doing.
@2:32 In the days of mechanical watches, anytime additional gears were added to show the day, date, etc, it made the gear system more complicated. Thus the name “Complication”. SmartWatch makers retained the name, and presumably is still somewhat accurate, though more complicated from an additional coding point. :-)
Another option for two-finger face touch as shown at 1:56, besides announcing the time, is haptic time where the watch silently vibrates the time. It’s so cool and good for in bed and quiet theaters when you don’t want to light up your watch and can’t have an announcement. 😊 See settings
Yep, and I just love to use the 2-finger face touch on either the Mickey or Minnie Mouse faces, to amuse the kids, because the time is announced in Mickey's or Minnie's voice. 👍🏻😂❤️
@@jeffpicken5057 haha... no it's not an ultra hack 🤣 I suggest that you carefully go through all sounds and voice related settings, including volume and mutes, on BOTH the Watch app on your mobile and also all settings on your watch, and it will come good. I'm a complete dumbo on these matters, and if I can do it so can you. There's plenty of hacks & frauds, yes, but this ain't one of them, friend. 🤣 Good luck PS it's not just there for our fun, it's essential for blind people.
Thank you for good advices, i have a question regarding the stopwatc on Apple watch Ultra, why is the houndreds stop showing after 15 sec. and secunds stop showing after 1 minute, is there away to continue seeing everything after the watch mute ?
your videos are very engaging and informative at the same time . recently got myself an Ultra and am finding the tips awfully useful. keep up the good work guys
I have a problem about my new Ultra2 about watch os downloading update that never continue to download and install on my watch. It always tell error dowloding 11.1 Os update. Please help.
I can't hear the text message tone due to hearing loss is there a way to change the sound or allow my phone to still alert me with it's selected text notification sound?
I really have UA-cam burnout and I am very critical. It’s just so annoying how many people are doing this. But surprisingly, you guys are funny. Coming from someone as miserable as grinchy as me is quite a feat.
i noticed that as soon as you took a screen shot on your watch it was in the photos on your phone, for me that can take hours , is there a link control to speed up that process, this happens across all my apple programs
What do I do to stop my Apple Watch from playing everything music or movies on my phone that keep coming up on my watch as audio? I try everything it won’t stop
Do you know a way to add or remove old racer routes. I started mine a year ago and they are short compared to the routes I ride now, and would like to extend or make new ones, but can find a way. Any Ideas?
The term complications on a dial Apple Ultra comes from normal watches, where every additional function such as day display, moon phase, etc. is called a complication
You can place people on hold when they call. By pressing the three dots in the bottom right hand corner. Then select answer with phone. With the AirPods in you can hear them on the line. It will tell them please hold.
So in order for me to listen to music only using my Apple Watch Ultra, without my phone. I need to have Apple Music account? I have already UA-cam music, but this I can't listen to without my phone!
Why is it that they dont allow you to customize the timers with different options of the types of timers your adding. For example grilled fish/ grilled chicken etc…
I just bought an Ultra 2 and this is my first Apple Watch but 2nd smartwatch. It'd now RIP to my Samsung Gear S3. The Apple can do a lot more which also costs a lot more. So far, I'm liking my Ultra.
The apple watch workout could detect when you had stopped workout and ask you to stop the workout. However it couldn't detect when we had removed the watch from our wrist and continue to waste battery to detect our heart-beat till battery flat
You should be able to get rid of the activity rings. I'm disabled, and it frustrates the heck out of me. I hate to be reminded that I can't be as active as other people. I did not know you could touch it two fingers and it'll tell the time. I've had a series of Apple Watches for five years. You live and learn.
The unlock iPhone with Apple Watch doesn’t work for me. It still awaits Face ID or passcode, and after the phone is unlocked using either of the two traditional methods, a pop up comes up on the watch screen (sometimes) about unlocking the iPhone, even though it was unlocked without the use of the watch.
You probably have a number of apps on your Apple Watch. When I organize my apps, I organize them by the ones I use the most to one particular side of the screen. So I don’t have to go looking through all of the apps to find the one I’m looking for. Organizing by color is nice, but do we really use all the apps all the time. Maybe about four or five. That we use most.
It would have been good to add instructions how to listen to music offline with Spotify and not just with Apple Music. A lot of people use Spotify instead.
From the first picture on your video, I thought you would show some thing where we could change the face to night mode without using the digital crown because that’s going away in the next update
Obrigado.
I think the term complications comes from traditional (non-digital) watches. I have a vague recollection of seeing that term in the late 1980s, but I haven’t double-checked
to use the two-finger-tab to get the time spoken, it‘s neccessary that the watch is woken up before. Doesn‘t make sense. It would be much more comfortable, if it also would word in sleep mode…

Right. It's not a new word that Apple invented. Watch people have used this word for things like moon phase dials for well over a century.
Thank you for this explanation. It never made sense to me that Apple called them complications.
That’s exactly what I wanted to comment. 👍👍
Thanks!
thanks , im 72 but still like tech , i just ordered the ultra 2, thanks for the tips, subscribed.
Cover to mute has been moved to gestures.
My Apple Watch alerted me that my heart rate was low. I went to ER and after tests they said I needed bypass surgery and should not go home to wait for one or I could have a heart attack. Bypass was successful.
Apple should make that a commercial

Thanks for your great videos. But I can’t find the Cover to mute option at my Series 7 with latest os. Is this ultra or higher series exclusive?
Great to have info on hand instead of searching each necessary question on functions that come up
Great video, but can’t get the flashlight to flash when pressing the chime. Is there some thing settings that needs to be turned on/off? Thanks.
Blood Oxygen levels is one of the main reasons I got my Apple watch

"Complications" may be stupid, but fancy watches also use the term. So Apple is just continuing a tradition.
You can arrange your app icons not only from your watch (tedious), but also from your iPhone Watch app. It’s MUCH easier!

Ask Siri through your AW mic to set a timer and it’ll pop up. “Hey Siri, set a timer for three minutes”
Timers are in the clock app along with the stop watch, alarms and time zones.
