      Just make sure you get one with low hours. When you are beginner you want to spend your time riding the bike. There is nothing wrong with the way this dude went. However he obviously has the experience to pull off the job. Also be sure and get yourself a full set of riding gear. Both Honda and Yamaha make excellent bikes. A 250 2 stroke is a lot of bike for a beginner. If you can handle it that would be a good direction. If not it 250 4-stroke liquid cooler it's an excellent choice. It is good to take an experienced rider with you when shopping . If this is not possible, look for buying used dirt bike videos on UA-cam. Good luck to you sir, I hope you hit the dirt soon.

    Oh help me I’m dying 😂 😂

    • @_jamesrayner_
      @_jamesrayner_ 6 років тому +1

      Ryan M. It depends rly, if it is more fuel into the engine, then yes, it would go faster. If it was more in the tank, it would be more weight to carry, but longer run times

    Instead of buying those $100 covers, you could have bought a linkage, wheels bearing kit, front fork seals, etc... That would be a full restoration

    Nice vid. So true on the parts, they add up quick.
    If you're changing the swingarm bearings, get the swing arm sandblasted, then give it a buff with a scotchbrite pad to give it a brush aluminum look. The sandblasting will mellow out a lot of the gouges and scratches, and it'll save you a bunch of elbow grease. Great job, keep it going.

    little tip for the cleaning of the aluminum parts. use a scrotch-brite wheel on a grinder or a Dremel and then just use the smaller scotchbrite tips for the cracks and crevices makes it take less than half the time

    Awesome build man. If I were you I would have gone with a 2005. Find one of those totally trashed for the right price and you have yourself a 2018 in no time. I bought a 2005 and put 450 forks on it. Complete motor only thing 2005 was the cases. Pro circuit pipes. 2008 sub frame and a new gas tank and boom. Fresh wheels all around and I had myself a 2018 completely indistinguishable. Still awesome build man. Super nice steel frame

    Couple of things I noticed, make sure to check and grease the bearings in wheels, swing arm etc. After blasting them with water you don't want them going rusty (Not sure if you plan on replacing)

    You should have tried to make the steel wool stick to a drill somehow ... Idk what tools you have but if you just cut a wood circle and put a screw thru the middle and then glued or velcroed the wool to it, then it might help

    Man, a $400 dirt bike and not one bad seal or bearing? Did you check for movement in the wheels, linkage, steering stem, swingarm, connecting rod, shifter rod or primary drive shaft where the front sprocket goes? Just giving some criticism man, love what your doing though, if you can do this again and again it will build up a subscriber base, I'm a Yamaha man myself, and a Kawasaki guy, and a Honda fan, haven't ridden but only about 20 different bikes so far in my life, but a few of them I owned and got to go deep into the engineering and building of it and since 4 it's been my main passion, keep it going brother, I messed up and let myself get down to not riding at all for several years before I said I NEED THIS!!! LOL, it's amazing how much joy it can bring to your life..
