Epic $500 2001 Yamaha YZ250 Project Bike Rebuild Timelapse

- I bought this 2001 Yamaha YZ250 for $500 from a guy on Craigslist. The bike was half torn apart when I bought it, with the engine already removed from the frame and the clutch taken apart. The guy told me the bike ran, but made a horrible sound. I tore the entire engine apart and 3 of the transmission bearings were sticky, which was the problem. I cleaned her up nice and gave her love where she needed it - very happy with the final result!
Bike is for sale in Bozeman, MT for $2,800. Message me on Instagram @kincadep if you're interested!

Kincade this is another absolutely beautiful build. You are a true master of dirt bike restorations. Have you ever thought about having a young apprentice work with you. I am sure at first it would slow you down but I’m sure if you found a person with the same dedication and hunger they would learn fast.
Your videos bring me great flashbacks of the motocross races I was in back in the mid to late 80’s. I’m sure your video’s have many generations drooling but I know the GenX guys are truly Blown away.
Thank You
I'll be damned, this was interesting from start to finish. Thanks for sharing!
I have one yz250 1996 in the garage now and your video inspires a lot. Thank you very much dude!
Paint the chassis, bro!!
Thank you! No way possible I would have ever, put everything in the frame without painting it! And much less rebuilt the motor without cleaning the crap out of the casing an jug an got all that greasy dirt off it. I blast mine before rebuilding them so the outside of motor an frame looks as good as it did when it left the showroom floor. To much work to not atleast throw some fresh pait on the frame IMO but either way i give the young man props most people his age dont know how to change the oil! But he will have a dependable good running bike now!
Great work! Nice to get to hear it run at the end.
Thank you! Broke it in today down the street, she rips!
Ha, a fellow Montanian(Montana). I noticed that Bozeman location. Awesome video btw. Really inspiring.

Didn't realize I was still watching Gordon Ramsay videos.
Hahah! Hope all is well man!
@@KincadePavich It is! Busy and hectic but all is well. I see things would be better for you if you wouldn't keep getting injured lol
What chain adjuster blocks are you using for that bike? @@KincadePavich
Nice job man, you should be proud of your work.
Nice build. Had a 01 ya as my first bike. It was stolen out of my garage. Picked up another one the a couple weeks back. Gonna bring it back to life as soon as I'm done my yz450f.
TV MX ahh that’s rough man sorry to hear, hope the next one turns out sick!

Nice job mate, i used to love the white and red version of the YZ 490 and The FJ 1200 tourer, Yamaha are great bike designers..
Natural restoration, good job!

Amazing dude ceep that up it must feel good to ride
Awesome job man. Nice work of re using most of the plastics. They came up really good. Most people just throw away.
Glad you enjoyed! I'll admit the plastics were new. Original airbox/tank though.
Great job, I love the detaling 💪👍
Most detailed rebuild I ever saw. Amazing work bro.

It is fantastic to look at.

Nice job man, i'm from Brazil!

Dude ever since I've seen your video it inspired me to jump back on a bike I had to sell mine to my daughter liver problem she had 65 % of her liver removed she's healthy now praise God but in the process of a year I had to sell my bike to pay bills so we didn't loose everything we owned, so now I'm going threw the slow process of saving and trying buy a cheap one so if you know any cheap ones shoot me a message on here please bike was life at point you know what I mean now my family is life but doesn't mean I can't enjoy riding..
That turned out badass 🤘🏻
Nice work bro'''
Great job 👌🏼
Respect from Russia! Good luck 👍
Excelente me encanta esa moto.
People like you trick innocent people into thinking they can take on a challenge like this 😜
Where did you get that sticker kit from? I'm considering getting a graphics kit off Ali express, they looks good but just not sure about the quality.
Great job👌
So nice to watch
Inspired! Thank you
Beau travail ! Bravo !
I have a 2012 yz250 and it's got new style plastics you should have put some on that yz250 you rebuilt nice work tho you are one talented person 👌🤟🏍
Thanks man! The restyle kits fit 2002 and up, and this is a 2001. You have to swap subframe and tank to make it work with a 2001 I believe.
@@KincadePavich oh ok that's cool are you going to do a video where you ride the bike?😀
@@jbenduro4604 I actually sold this bike, I rebuilt it just to flip it
@@KincadePavich oh😂 ok lol nice build
freaking great job
Good job sir👍
Muito bom!
Pena que aqui custa muito para fazer isso!
Motores dois tempos são os melhores! 🤘🏼🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great video mate , big job but I’m
Sure the reward of that 2stroke starting was worth it
Nice! Looks good! Would’ve looked a little bit better if you soda blasted the motor to shine up and clean the aluminum
Amazing .
I saw the sri lankan flag. 🇱🇰
Day one of catching up on all this goodness I’ve missed out on.
Haha let’s gooo welcome to the channel!!
Did the zip ties help hold it together? I finally got to my 01 250 rebuild, the left side crankcase (where the center fork goes on gets stuck) wondering how I can fix that without ruining it. Good case too
Congratulations well done
Nice build
Excelente trabajo mis más merecidas felicitaciones 👌
A1
Nice job
Sick bike keep that
why goto the link you goto to do this build and not paint the frame? the factory blue looks amazing with a nice primer first coast. Did it on my 04 450f
Damn that's clean
It is possible to swap an aluminium frame on an old YZ like this one ?
Love the video
Jolie travaille!bravo 👏
Awesome build men 🤟🏻 what year front fender did you get?
Nice work! i just picked up one. Where did you get the graphics, seat cover, and what year is the newer front fender? The bike looks sick.
Braaaplive2strokes thanks man! Got the graphics and seat cover on eBay. Front fender is a UFO restyle front fender, though I believe 2009+ also bolts right up. There’s a TT forum on YZ plastics.
Nice ! From France
What type of pads do you use on the drill?
Crazy!
You put parts in the oven to expand the metal but you can also put parts in the freezer to shrink them too.
Hey where do you state you stay in because I have a 400 ex I would love to be redid
Mi respeto para usted compa
I love it brother
Goodjob👍
Great video, where did you get those graphic from ?
1:54 Sri Lankan flag 😯😯
-from Sri Lanka ❤🇱🇰
Much respect
What did you spray on the plastics to clean them
You weren't playing around dude!! Put this video with the bike when you sell it for +$1000 on Craigslist
sorry in advance, I want to ask where I can get a used motorcycle with prices like that of your dividends, please provide information
I'm sure that bike sold by now ?
You did a great job 👍❤
Yes it did :) Thanks a lot!
excellent work friend congratulations, just ask us a question. You can tell where you bought it for 500 and you can recommend us where to buy motorcycles like this to repair, we thank you for the information greetings friend
lol
Nice work, I cant do this. For you it like bycycle...
That was oddly satisfying to watch. Great job.
Success!
Did you have to use any like Yamaha bond for the case? When putting it back together?
Yes for the case halves. I just used motoseal from AutoZone; it serves the same purpose.
Nice bro
What year front fender and plate did you use?
Bike looks sick I wanna build mine to look similar to that how did you get those hubs and wheels to turn out so good
Thanks man! Hubs I used one of VHTs anodized "looking" blue spray paints with the proper primer. Rims on this bike were actually plastdipped (which lasts okay but doesn't survive a tire change) but the best route to go with wheels is anodizing. You have to clean them really well, but then it literally changes the color by some chemical process and they can't chip or crack. Shop here charges me $75 to anodize a set of rims.
@@KincadePavich I might as well just get a new set of wheels my front is pretty beat up and bent but the hubs can be shined up pretty good I assume
If you hadn't make the gestures you did when the bike started, I would be sure there was something wrong with you. Beautiful job!
Where did you get those plastics?
Sick!!!!
woooow Fantastic
3:00 ummm fresh baked engine 🍞
I am working on the 2002 model rn lol
how did you restyle the plastics i also have a2001 yz125 but can only find tge older looking plastics
The only restyled plastic piece on this bike is the front fender; everything else is new plastics for a 2001. UFO makes the restyled front fender.
How much did it cost to rebuild the whole thing cause I’m looking at like that exact same bike and I want that to be my project I do while this corona and summer to keep me busy so if you could please message me the price of all of it it would be much appreciated
Total cost was $1900. $500 for the bike including a new crankshaft.
Where did you get the graphics kit?
What year front fender is that
