    Love how you taste the elegance and sophistication of this city...leisurely and not in a hurry...Compared to others who come and go in a hurry, they really miss too much...
    The temple culture in Taiwan is very rich and diverse, because Taiwan has deep religious beliefs, everyone has their own beliefs, and because of the influence of Chinese culture and Japanese culture, Taiwan has absorbed a very deep oriental cultural heritage...
    The movement of throwing the red, half-moon-shaped small wood is commonly seen in temples in Taiwan. It is called "pua̍h-pue." in Taiwanese... This movement is to move forward before extracting the will of the gods. If you pay attention... in Taiwanese temples, especially Taoist temples, in front of the altar for gods, there will be a tube-shaped object filled with thin sticks made of dozens to a hundred bamboo sticks. There are engraved numbers on it, or 60 groups of chronological numbers composed of 60 Chinese celestial stems and earthly branches...
    When believers want to ask the gods about things, or want to know something, solve confusion, and ask the gods for help, people will first take the two red half-moon-shaped wood chips and ask the gods if they can help? Or help answer? When these two half-moon-shaped pieces of wood are thrown on the ground...if one is positive and the other is reversed, it means that the gods agree with you to carry out the next procedure...if both sides show positive protrusions, it means that they disagree; If it is flat, it means that the situation is not clear, or the gods do not want to answer, or the information you gave is not enough...
    When you get the situation of one head and one head, you can take the bamboo branches placed on the table, beside the table, or in the tube. Of course, you must choose randomly, not deliberately... When you take one of them Zhi, you can take this bamboo branch to the gods again, ask again, and determine whether this is the intention and decision of the gods? In some temples, there are many worshippers... If everyone takes a lottery, then the probability will be reduced, so the temple will suggest that people memorize the words and the year on the bamboo branch...
    Generally speaking, you have to throw the half-moon-shaped piece of wood again to confirm to the god whether the number and year on the bamboo piece in your hand are His will?
    Generally speaking, experienced people will strongly throw three half-moon-shaped wood chips in a row to more strictly confirm the will of the gods... Usually a person is asking about life, health, career, lawsuits, major life crises and important events When the time comes, it will be stricter to obtain three consecutive one positive and one negative. As long as the continuity is interrupted once, people will start again to obtain another bamboo piece...
    If you have been unable to succeed, it means that something is preventing you from communicating with God, or the time has not come...you can choose to give up and come back at another time.
    -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -----
    Of course, you have obtained it three times, or you have only obtained the approval of the gods once, and you have confirmed that the long bamboo piece in your hand is the meaning of the gods, you can go to a box or cabinet next to the hall, and there will be There are wooden boxes made up of sixty or one hundred small drawers, and each small drawer contains printed poems and words, which will show the answers you want... These poems are usually It is composed of extremely profound and wise, even amazingly truthful words...Sometimes, you can understand and get enlightenment as soon as you read these verses...Some are more esoteric, you can take one of the poems, go to the side of the temple, and please enter the temple People, to solve your doubts for you...
    This culture is the most interesting one among the divination cultures of all temples in the entire East, including China, Japan, and Taiwan...
    Some temples are especially famous for certain divination effects...such as lawsuits, obstacles, health, marriage, love...etc;

      Thank you!! Taiwan is a fabulous city and definitely deserves more notoriety! It would definitely be hard to see Taipei in just a few days! :)
      Thank you for sharing more about the pua̍h-pue!! We really appreciate you taking the time to explain and share more about things that we may not have learned about without you! It is very interesting to us and a pleasure to learn more about it!

      @@IfWeGoTo You're welcome!
      Taiwan is indeed an interesting island country, political, geo-military, and its grievances with other Asian countries... haha. In many ways, Taiwan is a bit like the world, especially that node in the spider web of Asia, if you pull it, the whole of Asia will shake...Taiwan retains a kind of power like a key...
      For example, traditional Chinese is a necessary thing to open up China's 5,000-year history, culture and art, and it is more valuable than simplified Chinese; the colonial culture retained by the Japanese Empire in Taiwan was almost wiped out in Asian countries after World War II, but it was preserved in Taiwan like a unique species...
      Another point is more complicated. On a small island, there are more than 20 languages at the same time... (Chinese, Taiwanese, Hakka, minority languages of more than a dozen ethnic groups, languages of immigrants...etc.)... These people with different backgrounds are compressed here... Constantly shaping the culture of this island... Just like Taiwan is the junction of the ocean plate and the land plate...
      The place is undeniably captivating, detailed and subtle, rich and deep…
      I hope you have the opportunity to come back to this home again, and use your keen eyesight and elegant figure to see more of the unknown world of this island country for us...

    Thank you for another insightful video with solid information about local history. ( about the red light district and prostitution). Yes, the Lungshan temple in WanHua is the one to visit and pray for what seems to be missing in your life. Chances are your prayers will be answered as it is the most visited sacred temple. Tip:
    While you entering into a temple, always used the Right Door (so-called Dragon Gate).
    Entering from Dragon Gate as to request the blessing from the Deities and also to so-called "cleanse" oneself physical body/mind/soul.
    And Exit from the Left Door (Tiger Gate) of the temple. (Which if you are inside the temple that will be the door in your right hand corner)
    After going out from here, all your so-called "Bad Luck" will be retained by the Deities and "Good Luck" will be blessed on you.
    Also, never use the door in the middle because that is the pathway for gods.
    Fact:
    The painting on the doors is not just a artwork, they are gods of door (guardian of the temples) ,they keep the spirits and the demons outside of the temples

      No, Int’l Floral Expo was held in Taipei in 2012, not 2022. That might be a typo.

    Ximenting’s layout was designed by built by Japanese more than 100 years ago. Some shorter buildings hidden behind the billboards may be more than 100 year old too. It is considered older part of the city, but the young people like to hang out there … since more than 100 years ago. The area was full of theaters already in 1920s and 1930s. For example, 14:55 the building is new, but the same location had a modern theatre built in 1920. The new commercial building now even uses its original name “New World” 新世界.. the same name used more than 100 years ago.

      @IfWeGoTo  9 місяців тому

      @@riekster6901 Hi there... We appreciate you looking out for animals, but did you actually watch the video? We didn't eat the snake...
      That said, so long as the animal isn't abused, prone to disease, or pulled from the wild - is it much different from eating *any* farmed animal? That's why we're not necessarily against eating something like snake. (And we have consumed other reptiles before.)
      Whether or not to consume meat is a debate on its own (and we generally choose to because while traveling it IS part of experiencing other places), but to imply we would have an animal killed just for the purpose of a video is a bit offensive though.... we'd never do that.

    Wow I just went to Longshan Temple and Ximending today. Usually there's a farmer market right where you are in the video beside Yuanshan Station, but there could be other kinds of market too. Taiwan is gay-friendly, the first and only Asian country that legalizes gay marriage. But there's almost no gay district in Taiwan. I'm not sure why. Maybe it has something to do with Confucianism and sexual conservatism. 228 Peace Memorial Park was a dark place for gays to secretly linger around at night decades ago, when homosexuality was a taboo.

    • @IfWeGoTo
      @IfWeGoTo  10 місяців тому +1

      Oh ok! That's cool that they have a mix of markets!!
      Yeah we had read about that! It's really cool that Taiwan is setting the stage for elsewhere. I know some countries in Asia are allowing it but are still quite conservative, I'm sure with time there will continue to be more districts and places that pop up!
      Had no idea about that in 228! Very interesting bit of local knowledge, thank you for sharing!
