Thank you for your review. I have been listening to the podcast since it launched, so I have been looking forward to this. I received my PDF two days ago, and while the production value is great I have never been so disappointed in a RPG before. It is bloated, full of so much of the Cyphre system and so little on the setting. I had hoped that the information on the setting was gonna be the main thing in the book, so that I could use it for any other system. A long wait for an underwhelming product. But again thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I mean, if you watched the video, you heard me mention that :p That was the thing that threw me off... so little world lore. However, that's one thing that I suspected might happen when they chose to "Monte Cook" their book instead of making their own system.

@@scottuhls There's one aspect to the OGOA setting that may or may not have been translated properly and that's the idea that while the Green and the Dark are at war, the Dark is largely trapped behind/under the coal seams of Appalachia, which serve as a type of prison, maintained by the Green.
This is the reason why the Dark is using the Industrial Robber Barons to pillage the coalfields, it's to weaken the barrier that traps the actual Dark and keeps it restrained.
That's the 30kft view though, so it doesn't really come into focus unless you back up and look at the entire setting and not just individual events.

@@1975Paladin1 I know that. But then sometimes the green and dark work together for something

@@scottuhlsWhile true, that's largely due to specific situations, especially if it concerns J.T.Fields.
The Green and the Dark are the major players, but not the only ones, afterall.

🤔 i came in here reading the comment here making it seem like you where about to shit on this so hard and possibly being the worst rpg in the market... im like 20+ minutes in.. and so far.. all you have done is just explain how the world works/ how to semi build your characters.. (not in detail but to let people understand/have an idea of how it works) 🤔 i see almost no negativity so far.. only stating that "the cypher system isnt your favorite but eh 🤷‍♂️" type of attitude which doesnt really mean anything negative or positive so far. 🤔 just seems like.. dnd but worded differently with that whole 1-10 difficulty+ more in the call of chtulhu type thing where you arent goinf in guns blazing like dnd but you WANT to just investigate/explore and focus on non combat unless needed to get away. 🤔

That is correct. I do NOT feel like its the worst RPG ever made (I reserve that for some other rpgs I've come across and you can see one of my reviews if you look up the video on Outbreak: Undead). Overall, my experience playing the system is that it does a pretty decent job of letting you toy around in the Old Gods universe, which means it accomplished it's goal. Other people may have much more negative views, but I view games in this order:
      1) does it do what it set out to do (let you tool around in the universe)?
      2) is the system overly complicated?
      3) are the explanation of the game rules clear and easy?
      4) is it laid out well and without bloat?
Those things are fine, so it's fine. I'm just not a super fan of the cypher system, so that's just my opinion :)
