Just wanted to let you know that when I saw your video about convincing your parents to let you get herps I was leery. Working at a pet store I've seen so many reptiles come in that kids begged their parents for and then neglected. I was pleasantly surprised by how knowledgeable and responsible you are with your pets. Your videos are set up well and are easy to watch and have useful and practical tips. Looking forward to more from you, thank you for the vids!
Wow so many comments telling us you got the price wrong. I guess some people don't understand you can pay twice as much for something and get 20 times more so what if your only save $500 instead of $3000 over the next 3 or 4 years. Best video I've seen on this subject.
reptile / protein gutload:: lot of research says not to go over 15-18 percent for insect food, otherwise insects store acid that passes along to your reptile & causes gout (painful, expensive, fatal). ---- great video; thanks.
Not sure how desperate you might be to save but those external fish filters can cost a fair bit. Another better option is to sump the tank, which involves plumbing the tank to a sump tank, filled with media, which is then pushed back into the tank. Setup might cost a bit depending on how large you want to go but it is definately worth it in the long run. Hugely larger surface area with media, and some pumps can be extremely strong and low wattage. :) hope I can help someone save
A great (inexpensive) cricket/roach chow is a mix of 4 parts chickenfood, 1 part grounded sunflowerseeds and 1 part grounded hempseeds :) mix everything. You can give it dry or if you know that your critters eat up within a day, you can mix 2 parts chow and 1 part water. Clean out after 24 hours or you will have a dried up weird looking paste xD you can give them shredded carrots and other vegetables too. For watersupply, use a moist washcloth or cottonball in a bowl :) this is a very cheap option for your critters, and they will thrive! :)
@MRJonathanGT8D I'm sorry, but if I don't post a video, then I don't post a video. No big deal. It's my life, and I have a ton of things going on! My life actually doesn't revolve around UA-cam! It takes a lot of effort and time to make these. So please, don't complain! By the way, I tried uploading this morning at 6:30am, but something went wrong with the upload and it didn't get put up while I was at school. I'm trying again right now.
at all of my local pet stores the water crystals are $12 and the cricket food is about $8 i use the water storing crystals that same bag for $8 and homemade dry food
i have found that mealworms fave food is watermelon. i set mine up with oat meal, then throw some fruit or veggies and i am good to go, i also put an egg carton in.
I love your videos, very informative! I would recommend finding a different fish food though, I wouln't even feed a fish TetraFin, lots of dyes, not very good quality.
i could never breed my own feeder rodents cos i'd end up keepin em all! I also make mixes up 4 my insects n add calcium/D3 cos none of my geckos will eat dusted ones they did but just stopped they r all fine no MBD so it must work! cool video man peace
Actually, if you guys go looking for that bird food, ask for duck food, not chicken. What he shows is gamebird feed, which is for ducks not chickens. Most chicken feed is medicated.
What is a good way to breed crickets & clean their containerz??? I have problemz with my cricket breeding because when it comez down to cleaning out their containerz, I have babies everywhere... I don't know what to do bout this... Plz hlp!!!
Although this is helpful, people like myself have no choice but to buy Fluckers stuff because its closer and there is NO places that have the sort of stuff you get. So that's pretty much unfortunate...so I dunno what I should do in that case. Although I do know about the feed you get from feed stores, I just live in a more urbanized area! So I have no idea what to do about that. Thanks for the added turtle filter advice, I'm new at raising turtles so that was helpful in my case.
@MrHardcorerolling Just using normal Rodent breeding blocks provides the perfect diet, if your trying to breed. I give mine some fruit and vegetables every now and then. I don't know if it really helps, but they love it! Don't waste your money on that "Pet rodent" "fancy" food! lol again just fancy packaging! Just give em some bird seed if that's what you want!
We sell 1 oz of crystal for $1.00 and that makes one gallon. The ones at the store don't really cost that much but I won't buy them cause I don't shop the big stores anymore. I do like the idea about showing people how to save money but this just scratches the amount of money you can save such as using aspen in bulk then buying the crap like reptibark and what not...
on the back of the bag of bird food it says warning dont feed to rodents or insects it is proably ok but why does it say that a u still feed it to them
Yeah nothing worse then looking stupid talking about something you know nothing about... He shouldn't say prices if you don't know. 2.99 to 3.99 for a jar is not a lot of money specially if it has added calcium
I was going to buy from you but I emailed you and never got a reply then saw you are very much inactive on UA-cam and I didn't want to risk paying someone who didn't even breed dubai roaches or reptiles for all I know.

You look like an older dewy from malcom in the middle! SUBBED haha
Right ! Lol

Ozzy's settling in nice. He has grown so big over the last couple of months. Gonna out grow that tank in a little bit.

Very interesting and informative video. Nice presentation , great that you gave examples of where to get one’s supplies.
Excellent stuff here. When I bred Dubias, I used the water crystals from Home Depot as well.
happy upload anniversary, still helping people out to today.

Very smart, i never thought in made my own crickets food
Fluckers sells the cricket food for like $4, and the cricket water for $3-$4 at PetSmart & PetCo where I live.
I made the same food you use for your dubia's for mine. I use the same things, but a different chicken feed.
at all of my local pet stores the water crystals are $12 and the cricket food is about $8 i use the water storing crystals that same bag for $8 and homemade dry food
That's weird. I live in Georgia and you can get them for $3-$4 each.
Same thing here
+zhenia mokhan (skylander boy) you can get them for 2.99
you can feed crushed cat or dog food, its a little more work, but its fine, you can also get a ton of supplies at lowes or walmart. hope i helped.
i have found that mealworms fave food is watermelon. i set mine up with oat meal, then throw some fruit or veggies and i am good to go, i also put an egg carton in.
Great video and tips!!
This is amazing! Im probably going to start doing this for my lizards. I have some left over herptivite. Can i use that too?
great video!! This is gunna save me so much money and be better food for my bearded dragon!!
At the pet store I go to you can buy fluckers cricket food for $5 and the water gel for $3
I love your videos, very informative! I would recommend finding a different fish food though, I wouln't even feed a fish TetraFin, lots of dyes, not very good quality.
Yo please make more videos about roach care i keep replaying this video its so good
I really enjoy your videos kid, keep up the good work. You also remind me of the little brother from Malcolm in the middle.
@MrTiagoSkater I don't think thats the tub he was putting the crickets in that tub. It was just a storage tub for the food.
thanks for ur great videos
What is the best way to clean out your cricket containerz???
i could never breed my own feeder rodents cos i'd end up keepin em all! I also make mixes up 4 my insects n add calcium/D3 cos none of my geckos will eat dusted ones they did but just stopped they r all fine no MBD so it must work! cool video man peace

Oats and veg. Simple no need for anything fancy or expensive, $1 oats which will last approx 4-6 month and scrap veg for there moisture
At my local petco ther about $6.99 - $7.99 because I have the Yellow water crystals and the cricket feed.
Good thinking dude!
Thanks for the tips love the vids
What all did u mention was good 2 mix 2gether 4 feeding our insects & what insects r they good 4 feeding?
What is a good way to breed crickets & clean their containerz??? I have problemz with my cricket breeding because when it comez down to cleaning out their containerz, I have babies everywhere... I don't know what to do bout this... Plz hlp!!!
can you dye the water crystals to make them look cooler?
Hey if I put the D3 in the food do I still give it to them every other week when I dust the crickets
can you mix liquid calcium in the water for the crystals?
Thank you so much man !!! :D
Indeed it did thanks, I'll have to look into that. :P
Where did you get your insect water crystals from?
you use the cricket food as substrate?
hay i going to get a dubia roach colony at the start of this year do you think i could use this diet for them?
@airless818 nope petsmart sells the yellow cricket food for 2.50
at my petsmart the cricket diet is 7 dollars and the gel crystals are 10 dollars
Can i just buy or bees to water my crickets and just break them up?

I feel stupid asking this but do water crystals evaporate?
Do u have any websites? and if so can u post it?(: THANKS
The small containers cost 10 - 15 bucks
@sinisterrodents only bad thing about aspen is it molds more easily so more work
What do u recommend 4 breeding mealworms?
@MrHardcorerolling Just using normal Rodent breeding blocks provides the perfect diet, if your trying to breed. I give mine some fruit and vegetables every now and then. I don't know if it really helps, but they love it!
Don't waste your money on that "Pet rodent" "fancy" food! lol again just fancy packaging! Just give em some bird seed if that's what you want!
could u make a full update
@wazzupsli12 ok, but you put the food as like substracte or in a bowl
grind all organic dog food into powder and create a bedding out of it for your crickets and meal worms thats what davidsfinegeckos do.
We sell 1 oz of crystal for $1.00 and that makes one gallon. The ones at the store don't really cost that much but I won't buy them cause I don't shop the big stores anymore.
