That knife you cleaned up needs the area inside the middle groove cleaned where the blade hooks on inside the groove, then the knife will close all the way. If you noticed the ''Tip"will stick out and maybe cut you if there is lint or dirt inside. When properly cleaned the blade will snap shut. I have over a 5 gallon bucket full of older Old Timers, Buck, Schrade, Case and others, hunting knives also. Been at this crazy buying for 54 years , and yes i like that feeling of the knife in the pocket ! I feel naked without one in my pocket.I enjoy the knives that have been sharpened and show blade wear the most. I'm 71 years old now and have started putting them in picture boxes on the wall. Happy blade hunting.
Turn on to your channel after reviewing your gift to 2nd chance George!😊

Enjoyed the restore efforts on the CASE 10 dot. Your team explanations are spot on👍
Awesome!! Welcome Aboard! I love his channel!!
I have a similar age Case Peanut with Delrin scales. I have cleaned the scales up before (they had a similar "white -ish" look as yours did). They get back to the brown colour with a bit of work but if I put it back in storage the "white" stuff comes back after a few months. I wonder if it is just the old plastic (Delrin) oxidizing or something?
I have a very similar knife that I purchased from the USAF PX at Clark field in the Philippine Islands in 1967. Part number is 61048. I also have another CASE knife that belonged to my Father. the number n it is 61023 or 61093. The 3rd number is worn to where I can't read it iven with a magnifying glass.
That’s Awesome Sir!! Thanks for sharing this!
The slimline trapper is my favorite Case XX knife. Great job on this one, I've just subscribed. :)
I like to restore old pocket knives, but I don't have the nice gear that you have for buffing and sharpening... but I'll get it some day, no doubt.
I have a Camillus stockman that the main blade will barely snap some of the time, then it'll stop again. The spring does rise above the liner seemingly far enough to allow the blade to snap, and like I said, it'll snap sometimes (a little, not strong) and not snap at all at other times. I think the problem is dirt and/or some corrosion on the sides of the blade, sandwiched around the pivot hole. Working the blade back and forth moves that dirt around (on this Camillus I'm currently fooling with), but it doesn't come out. I've considered submerging the knife in some kerosene or maybe Marvel Mystery Oil and opening and closing the blade several times, which might (might?) clean up the gunk on the sides of the blade's pivot point, and the brass liners also. If I ever try this, I'll let you know. :)
Thank you for sharing this!! Welcome Aboard!!
you ought to try and take apart sever SAK's and then rebuild them to your own design. There are so many parts and videos on how to do it available.
Just got one of your videos in my suggestions box and I'm already hooked. I think this is the 5th video I've watched in a row. Keep up the good work my friend!
Thank you so much for the support! That's awesome!!
What kind of sharpener are you using?
Work Sharp Sharpener. Thanks for watching!!
Great videos! I remember my dad having 2 of those knives in the early seventies. I notice you, like a lot of guys, pronounce Victorinox as Victori-a-nox but there is no “a” in the word.😊
LOL. Thanks. I don't mean to do it. It just comes out that way. LOL
You've probably mentioned it in other videos, but what kind of oil are you using?
Remington Gun Oil. Thanks for watching!
I have the exact same knife but brushed stainless 2017. I bought it in a store but got a Great deal.
That gray color that was in the foe gigging looked kind of like J B Weld to me. But it sure lookes good now thats for sure. Cheers.😊
Ever use Flitz metal polish ? It works great on the bolsters .
I haven't tried it. Thanks for suggestion and thanks for the support!
If you take a large screw driver or some sort of wedge at the end of the bolster you can gently pry the bolster a part at that knife will have a fantastic snap.
look for a supper eraser its a grity rubber block that is sold in knife shops like the old shcool knife works in otto nc it work asome for cleaning blades
Love the Case Slimline Trapper. One of my favorites. I'm looking for old Case Slimlines. Keep up the videos. Fun catching up on the old ones.
Thank you!!
The Victorinox with the hooked blade is a florists knife.
I’m curious now. I just wonder what your keychain looks like. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had 12 knives hanging on it.
LOL. No, I just have a Victorinox SD Classic on both sets.
Nice job,im learning alot and enjoying every minute 👍
New Sub, Terry's Knives and Man Stuff sent me this way!! I love cleaning up the old ones!!! I'm a big fan of the Never Dull, works some magic for sure! I also have that same field sharpener and was boasting about it in our recent live! Thanks for sharing this!!
