    Perfect restoration 10/10... all the history is still within that knife...

    Amazing - one would expect that after a century undergrund wooden elements of the handle were completely rotten, but they somehow survived intact and in perfect condition, requiring only some sanding and polishing. Must be some magical place where this military camp was located, to preserve wood but make brass rusty.

      I think those scale pieces were bone rather than wood.

    How do you know it was underground for 105 years? Was there a note with it?

    That was incredible, had no idea there'd be brass under that rust. Now if it could only tell you the stories about who its owner was.

      yeah been wondering how he got it to stick on lol, same with it is "105" years lost, maybe the same fella who is going to tell the stories

    It looked like the knife was poorly made and put together with a quickness and then put through reverse Electrolysis to attract the rust to it then poorly restored but idk how does Brass Rust and wood not completely erode away

  • @mikewatkins7618
    @mikewatkins7618 Рік тому

    Amazing! However, I think that knife probably wasn’t outdoors in the dirt 105 years. I think if it was that long there would have been much less of it remaining! 😂

  • @derekwagner157
    @derekwagner157 Рік тому +1

    If using electrolysis to remove rust, be sure to expose raw, clean rustfree metal at the contact point. You will get far better results.
    That kinfe is less than 100 years old

    It must be magic; no other way would turn a junk knife covered with mud into a junk knife full of pits.

  • @andyc750
    @andyc750 Рік тому +7

    rusty brass is a good trick, must have took a while to get that effect, and were that a genuine "105" years lost knife then it is ruined from the historical artefact point of view

  • @theskyehiker
    @theskyehiker Рік тому +10

    Generally speaking, when an individual claims an item is x or y years old, I would expect that individual to present some corroborating evidence to support that claim. Photographs, historical drawings from catalogues etc. In the absence of this I assume the person is just making stuff up.

    • @JonAhlquist
      @JonAhlquist Рік тому +1

      The video description says that the knife was found at a WWI military camp site. Perhaps "105 years old" is based on the knife being restored 105 years after the end of WWI in 1918. At 0:09, it is called a 19th century pocket knife. I've done some image searching and cannot find a knife that looks like this.

    Rusty brass? Really?!? The fake before condition of so many utube restoration videos severely diminishes any quality of the restoration. You shouldn’t try to fool the gullible people who might not be aware of what’s going on.
