I’m really rooting for this channel. Sharing every time I see a good opportunity to do so. Message me if you want some prints from southern Indiana’s morels. I just inoculated the tar out of my area with rain water slurry and spores Coated dry saw dust shavings/rice. I tried something new 2 years ago with seemingly great results. I added fulvic and humic acid with a bit of bee pollen and to date, it’s been by far the best turnout out of all the attempts I’ve made :-)
Make a video! I’ve been trying different ways for a while and have had 0 luck. I live downtown with a small patch of woods. I do a basic slurry of Morel spores, honey or molasses in a 40 gallon bin with with a rock bubbler.
I was reading in a book if I remember correctly they used tomato root extract to get a certain mushroom to grow. It will be great some day when we have some kind of hacks like that to grow morels and chanterelles at home.
@@1smik Well, you can look up how to clone mushrooms. You can take a sample from the mushroom and put it in agar in a petri dish. Then you can look up how to make liquid mushroom culture. Then you can just pour it around the natural environment, and maybe they will grow there in the correct season. The season for picking them is relatively short also so you have to know when the time is right.
Great content on your video. Can’t wait to see results. Interesting how you are transferring the soil on agars as well. Hopefully you have a yard full of high end mushrooms 🌈😃🤙
I've been investigating getting morels seeded in our yard. I saw that at least some morel species may prefer elm, especially slipper elm trees, ash and maple. I think slippery elm trees may have more vitamins and minerals, and I know that maples leaves are great for composting because they have a high calcium content. With that, i though maybe using some moringa powder tea where I put some morel slurry, because moringa is more than a superfood and loaded with vitamins and minerals. Has more calcium than milk, and more vitamin c than an orange. I will still try to maybe get some elm wood from a park or maybe the facebook marketplace as firewood or just a fresh cut tree. I just need some pieces, so that shouldn't be too difficult to find. My hubbie is a woodworker, and I finally found a good use for his copious amounts of saw dust. Normally, that is from trees like oaks, spanish cedar, some walnut. I know black walnut and sycamore have chemicals to supress the growth of other plants. I also got a syringe of black morel spores and a bag of sterilized rye grain, and I'm so happy the mycelium looks like it is going gangbusters now! i know gum tragacanth is very jelling and might be interesting to see if that would work like agar does. I know about that from making my own soft pastels.
I have observed that there are companion organisms with morchella and it will help me to recreate the “biome” that surrounds the mycelium and rhizomes in the soil
Pleased to meet you from West Tennessee .I have known about morel mushrooms for about a week now. I have never tasted one. But I have some good locations to spread scores. I would be interested in some of your spores if they are available. I also talk to a live talk radio program in Jackson Tennessee. Would you like for me to tell them about your website. I like your style. I’m the guy that drives the 100 mpg plus car in the West Tennessee area. So yes that means I never have a date. I spend lots of time reading and learning about interesting topics like this.🤓
I like the way you say that mush love at you to brother interesting with the microbiomes curious what you would to with with that how would you use them in conjunction with the culture like introducing them to the substrate before pasteurizing very curious
I have been trying to freeze dry a constituent of cells to make a powder then hydrate it and inoculate when you spawn the culture but haven’t tested the shelf stability of this method. It’s very hard to replicate
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi I'll share with my community is this the only method or is there any other ways to use the microbiomes perhaps somthing more conventional like maby a brew to hydrate the substrate with cubes respond well with cow poo or the microbiomes in it after it's been pasteurized perhaps you can use it like that make a big pot of microbiomes teas
you need to isolate mycelium. This can be done a few ways but traditionally you would streak out spores or take a tissue sample on agar, sub culture this and use it once it’s pure.
igotthis They have been cultivated indoors - it is very technical and requires the formation of sclerotia which is not well understood - Trying to crack the morel code is master level mycology MUSHLOVE
Fresh from the Farm Fungi LLC that's awesome I had no idea. The only thing that keeps me from those mushrooms are the bugs. I need a way to get rid of them all since I can't have them in my diet.
igotthis I usually get a few large mason jars (1 gallons) fill them with cold water and submerge them for a half hour and shake them around to loosen debris. Then take them out one by one and rinse them under running water and place on a towel to dry. They clean up better then most other mushrooms 👍🏻 But I hear ya - cultivated over foraged anytime!
Ive been researching and doing trials for a couple years now and I think I have a solid patch going this time 🤞sclerotia present just need to pop in the spring! I will do an update video soon
plant in the fall in grain bags on the surface with holes , then they need to colonize the surrounding dirt, form sclerotia and not dry out in the spring - there needs to be a nutrient gradient so they will pin and form sclerotia and a period of freeze/thaw so they will fruit
Every time I culture. I have to play the pokemon stadium theme now. Epic.
Lol I've never heard this live version played before 😂

Awesome thanks for following! Send me an email at freshfromthefarmfungi@gmail.com that sounds great about the morels!
I would be interested in some spores from you. I'm trying to learn how to grow some in my yard or hunting area

I would like to hear about the isolation of bacteria in the soil further please.

@@1smik You could in theory make or buy a liquid culture and then put it outside to grow in a natural environment.

Great stuff man, I can't wait on the results. I could do without the loud music, I about threw my phone when it kicked on..lol
Me last week tearing up a morel, dipping the pieces in molasses/salt/water mix and placing them around on the ground to try and inoculate my yard lol
Fantastic video! Please show us how they came out…much appreciated…
I have SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks for these!
Awww wish u would've put up the video once you had some results

You are the actual Ash Ketchum of mycology 😂
Good work sir welcome to you organic farming mission kashmir
Nice can't wait the result!
You need to zoom in on what you are taking out of the inside of the mushroom.
Details.... close up video and still photos would help.

Your volume on your music was fine until @2:38
Thanks for the video....now start heating the butter.
Bro i dont have agar so can i use shep blood?
May I ask, what’s the purpose of collecting bacteria sample from the soil around the mycelium?

So you scrape the inside
hi friends. ı wonder can ı learn how many days be cloning time to be ready ? one month two month ? ı need a answer
What's the orange stuff in the agar
Great job
How do I make the culture? like the stuff to put in a syringe and inject into a grain bag?

@FreshfromtheFarmFungi thank you. What is streaking out spores and sub culturing? Could you make a video on how to do that?
Drives me nuts when people call it auger 😢
What's the agar recipe you use for morels?
Ive ran them on MEA, PDA, V9 and DRBC all did well
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi awesome thanks!
How come they can’t be grown inside like other mushrooms?
Because that would also help you to not have any bugs either.

Any update of the result? Thanks.
we are waiting for the spring rains - we have everything spawned and grown out just hoping for a rainy april
I’ve tried growing morels a couple different ways. No luck yet but I love hunting them just the same #MushroomFantasies
