    Thought buffalo bream were a rubbish fish not worth your time? Steve and Paul are going to prove otherwise as they seek to land some of the massive vegetarian fish that hang around WA's rockwalls and reefs.
    Few fish from shore are this hard to hook, this hard to land and have this many dirty tricks. One of the favourite episodes ever and one of the funniest.
    Can you land a big buff from shore?

    Well done. These are very difficult to catch. I have eaten many large buff bream over the years and they are fairly good eating. Not as good as snapper, jewies, etc., but extremely edible all the same, baked or stewed, or in a curry.

    Silver drummer are not "rubbish" when it comes to table fare due to the fact that it is a herbivorous algae feeder. If prepared and cooked properly, it is a delicacy. They are widely targeted and eaten by anglers in many Eastern Asian countries, where stock number and size are below historic average due to heavy demand.

    whats the difference between a buff bream and a silver drummer?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod 10 років тому +1

      Buff bream, buffalo bream, silver drummer are all in fact the same species, Kyphosus sydneyanus. There are also closely related species such as Western buffalo bream and brassy drummer which have slightly different morphology, like the shape of the tail, stripe colours, etc.
