    Would really like to see more stuff like this from you guys, especially since these patterns were retired. Being able to make custom bags for my bike or to fit specific products would be very helpful.

      @@williamreinhard retiring old patterns makes way for new. These are pretty straightforward and not too difficult to self design. Just need the ability to accurately measure the perimeter of the side profile so you can size the zipper gusset.

    I m making the HFB ... I have no clue what you mean by ' Fold garage in half an baste stitch on drive side ????? I could really use some visual clues here LOl

    • @LearnMYOG
      @LearnMYOG  2 роки тому +1

      The garage is the wedge of fabric at the front of the zipper so the zipper pull is covered when the zipper is closed. You fold that pattern piece in half and the sew it on top of the side panel partially covering the closed zipper.

    Great tutorial!
    But how do I work with plastic stiffener, not the flexible foam? It’s really hard to do basting and sewing with firm panels

    • @LearnMYOG
      @LearnMYOG  3 роки тому

      Thanks. Why would you want plastic panels inserted?

    • @buranik
      @buranik 3 роки тому +1

      @@LearnMYOG to add rigidity and protection to the contents of the bag. For example, I made bicycle basket bag and camera bag and the foam was definitely not enough. It was extremely hard to work with plastic stiffener, I had to add internal pockets for stiffener sheets.

    • @LearnMYOG
      @LearnMYOG  3 роки тому +1

      I use ABS plastic for backpack frame sheets and others use HDPE. Encasing like I do with foam would work so you don’t have to sew through the plastic sheet. But sewing a 3D corner will be tough so construction order and seam placement may take some creativity.

    Top Tube bag question: The pattern is one piece with a big line down almost the entire middle. Am I supposed to cut that in half so that the zipper + tabs can fit between the two? If not, more detail please! and thanks.

    Where are you buying the foam from?

  • @ryanboeding1318
    @ryanboeding1318 2 роки тому

    Kind of confused on attaching the zipper to the rest of the middle piece. Right sides together and sew only on one side, the side where the zipper is when up?

      To get your tabs on, I like this method: ua-cam.com/video/XDXNP_HkK28/v-deo.html It's different than the method the LearnMYOG zipper video, but it worked for me because I'm using thicker fabric.
      When sewing the 2nd tab on, make sure the zipper is the correct length to the LearnMYOG pattern.
      After your tabs are on, sew a strip of fabric (wider than you need) to the long edge of the zipper, right sides together. Fold the fabric out flat, then top stitch the fabric close to the zipper. You should now have a correct length zipper, with fabric on all 4 sides. Trim the sides to fit the pattern.
      Watch his zipper video and it should make sense: ua-cam.com/video/Tjf7XQ08I-c/v-deo.html

    Inserting the zipper into the top panel seems to be the most confusing part. I wish you would make a more in depth video (without the video cuts) showing the steps. I’ve watched your other videos but I’m still struggling and wasting zippers and fabric left and right. Thanks.
