    Hoping you're well, I came back to this video for a comfort evening and so glad I did. This sprung a full on love for sewing and an outlet for creativity for me that I'm unsure I otherwise would have discovered. Thank you

      Sorry about the confusion, I’m stitching shut the sides after clipping them at 3:01, and then at 3:10 I put binding on that same seam

    Great video! On the pattern generator for zipper width are we talking teeth width or total width to the edges of the fabric when together?

    • @zipworks
      @zipworks  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks! Neither, we are talking the total width of the zipper by itself - teeth and tape.

    • @Jacobhance
      @Jacobhance 4 роки тому +1

      @@zipworks Teeth and tape! Perfect thank you.

    What is the marking tool you are using here? A chalk pencil is my guess even though I’ve never heard of that before.

    • @zipworks
      @zipworks  3 роки тому +1

      Fine point silver sharpie. Since I’m only marking the outline here it doesn’t matter that its permanent, it will be hidden in the seam allowance.

    My understanding is that dyneema doesn't stand up to chafing and rubbing. Probably not the best material for a wallet/pouch.

    • @zipworks
      @zipworks  3 роки тому +1

      Sure, not all projects are suited to be made out of dyneema - I guess it boils down to the intended use. If abrasion resistance is the primary concern, like for instance in an everyday wallet - I too would look elsewhere. Perhaps something in the Cordura family, known for being highly durable. I made this particular wallet to sit in my backpack and hold my car keys, credit card etc. when I go out hiking in the mountains. Dyneema is a popular choice for outdoor gear because of its strength-to-weight ratio, not to mention its ability to repel water. One would hope that the hybrid dyneema versions with the nylon face at least adds some abrasion resistance. I’ll report back when it wears out.

      The new Ultra fabric improves abrasion resistance while being similarly lightweight and waterproof.
