The law which describes the steadfast guidelines for bourbon, was the "Bottled in Bond Act of 1897", whose biggest advocate was Colonel E.H. Taylor, who worked for ten years to get the law passed by Congress, which sets forth the method by which Bourbon must be made.
In 1964, Congress passed a law making Bourbon "America's Native Spirit"'.
This law restricts the making of Bourbon to anywhere in the United States of America.
