Forbidden to kill Christians? Native Irish seemed to be one exception.

  • This video covers two locations associated with the Knights Hospitallers in County Kildare Ireland. The organisation was a pan-European military order of "warrior monks" who's mission was to defend the faith of Christ. In Ireland it seemed they were more an extension of military power of the English, under Royal control rather than Papal. What do you think? Your comments on this would be welcome.
Also note for those unfamiliar with Ireland, many Irish place names have the word "kill" before them. In Gaelic or Irish was once "Cill" which means church, but the word was Angelized to "Kill" over the centuries.

Greetings from Ireland! Welcome to my channel, that is dedicated to the history and culture of Ireland. This is not set out to be a history lesson, but a ramble through some stories you might find interesting about Ireland from an Irishman! Ireland has so many connections throughout the world from the emigration from this country over so many centuries, but those with Irish blood in their families always have a yearning to know more about their "old country", this is my attempt to bring some of the history and culture they left behind. So if you fancy some tales about horsemen and highwaymen, banshee's and fairies, soldiers and rebels, legends and folklore, saints and scholars, please like and subscribe, I post once per month. Thank you for watching. Ronan.

I find it amazing that the horses don’t collapse from the weight these people wear. If they fall of the horse they surely can’t get back on without a step up of some kind!

Most Knights were young men who could easily remount if "unhorsed" and the horses would get used to the weight.

wow they maintained the titles til the mid-1800s -- how did they preserve that during all ireland's upheavals. good stuff!

These titles were mainly honorary, in fact today the "Order of Malta" is a volunteer ambulance corps in Ireland that traces its origin to these knights, they even carry the cross and shield emblem on their vehicles!

You seem to be under the misconception that the Catholic church trusted the Celtic founded christians of Ireland, they never did, this is why they swapped Ireland for Sicily with the Normans, did not recognise the vast majority of Celtic saints till 1958 changing many dedications to more Catholic ones, not to mention the massacre of Bangor Is y Coed earlier on

The Templars returned for Jerusalem with Kabbalistic books that were hidden along with other stuff. They knew where as they were descended from the priests of the area who fled Jerusalem and intermarried with European royalty when they fled the falling of the second temple.
The founders of the Templars were all of families using the Lion of Judah as their moniker. It’s part of the storied list tribes .
They acted as brothers as do the Kabbalah, they acted with the same levels to gain access to the Grail , it’s mirrored in the Zohar where the grail is called the vessel”.
It’s obtained through group esoteric work handed down by text and word of mouth.
    It’s western Kabbalah…
Poor knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon ( the temple in Jewish writing is a spiritual concept , place or vessel to receive God directly.firstly ….and secondly a physical structure).
Kabbalah is in their name the Templars and I assume the other groups acted the same .
It’s clear to note also that the Templars accepted all classes and that’s unheard of for a Knight who must be of noble class.
    Not so here.
It’s the same as Arthur and his round table ( each meme et being equally distant and no head of the table).
Each one of the brothers is equal regardless of physical status.

Going back to the saving of the church and Europe in the early dark ages by Irish Missionaries Monks the Popes and the Bishops the Nobility of Europe sent their children to the colleges that were founded by the Irish Monks.
The Monks and powers at be within the church didn't always see eye to eye because of many of the Bishops had taken mistresses in had children and the Monks to exception to these Bishops and their mishandling of the church seeing much of what the Bishops and others were doing wasn't within the teaching of the church had written to the Pope of the day to Put the situation right even the Pope didn't escape the attention of the Monks for not properly promote the teaching of the church.
In turn it was the Monks that were in a way hated by parts of the Church in Rome and in some of the European countries.
The Pope had given the English his blessing to attack the Irish to destroy the Old Irish Church and bring it in line with Rome at the time as The Irish Church remained to the teaching of the old church founded by St PATRICK here in Ireland, Rome didn't like this in which it had a opportunity to do something about it as himself an English man ordered the Norman to Sack the Irish Church by destroying it foundation from the ground up by burning Abbys churches and slaughtering the abbots and abbotesses their Monks and their congregation and burning it down.
The normans the. Reestablished their own orders in place of the Irish.
They saw the irish church as a thorn in their side for many generations and took the opportunity to put the Irish in yheir place.
The Irish while going through Europe saw the mishandling of the church by the Bishops and others for political, monetary and for power sought to remond the powers at be that they should return to the correct way of life of a Catholic.
Some never forgot that. So it was sweet bitter revenge on the Irish by some of the normans and English against the Irish.
So this wasthe thinks the Irish got for saving Europe from the brink of disaster.
